I'm probably going to read Lonesome Dove this year and I'm really looking forward to it. Universally loved by all it seems. The Road would probably be in my top 10 as well. Imagica and Blackwater just went on my TBR, and I'm ashamed to say I've haven't read The Giver yet, but hopefully will get to that soon as well, since I'm going through a pretty big dystopian and post-apocalyptic phase.
Dang, Baron! Heck of a list. I’ve only read a couple of books on here, It, The Hobbit, and LOTR. I’ve been so excited to try some Barker, I’ve ignored your praises for him for too long. Great video my man.
I read No Country and Blood Meridian a few weeks ago and honestly neither have come close to The Road for me. Still some of the best books I've read all year though.
Great list, dude. Only one book that overlaps with my list, but a lot that would probably be in my top 30ish, so I’m looking forward to reading those that I haven’t tried yet (starting with Lonesome Dove). As a side note: my favourite Steinbeck is Of Mice and Men. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s a must (just keep the tissues handy).
At long last a great audio 👏👏👏 When I mention audio to certain channel runners they blame my computer...Ha ! You just proved them wrong and I thank you. Regards from the UK.
Excellent list. I've read 6 of these and loved five, and I'm going to be reading East of Eden in July and Lonesome Dove in the fall. I own Blackwater too and your review has pushed it much higher on the tbr.
I love what you said about Clive Barker's Imajica. I haven't read anything by this author yet. Libby let me down so now I'm seeing if I can purchase without my wife finding out. lol Excellent list Barron.
What a list! You've got some of my favorites here. I'm a big SF reader so of course high five for Dune (classic) and the whole Remembrance of the Earth's Past trilogy (mind-bending). "IT" is in my King top 3; best character work! Lonesome Dove pulled me from the first 'hot and dusty' page and I could not put it down. Amazing! Having said all that... I've never heard of Imajica! I'm definitely going to consider reading it at some point. Thanks 😃
@@YourBrainonBooks After watching your vid. I think you will LOVE the book I'm writing. You'd put mine in your next top 10. Can you give it a read & review when I finish?
Won't argue with Death's End, also one of my favorite books of all time! The Giver also left a tremendous impression when I was a kid -- I really need to try some of these others, and I own It and Lonesome Dove and need to give those big boys a try!
Great top 10! Wow, The Giver, I taught this book in Junior High School and it has stayed with me. I have heard so many amazing things about Lonesome Dove, added to my tbr. I have read three Michael McDowell novels and would love to get a physical copy of Blackwater. Unfortunately difficult to get hold of in South Africa so I might have to purchase this on my kindle. My wife and I have probably watched Lord of the Rings like 10 times. I absolutely adore Imajica but My choice for Clive Barker would be Weaveworld, perhaps because it is the second Barker book that I read and blew me away. Frikken awesome video and apologies for the essay.
Thanks Cliff!!!! Man, McDowell is tricky to get good copies of even in the states. It’s a shame. I love Weaveworld too or pretty much all Barker for that matter 🤣 thanks for watching
Baron! you still out there? I just found your site and subscribed based on your initial review of Imajica. Then I watched your top 10 favs and I discovered you were the only other person I knew who thought Imajica was the best thing ever. Hit me back if you're still active on here.
@@YourBrainonBooks That's good news! Besides our mutual love of Imajica, I was impressed with the scope of your list. I always tell people that the best books are those with stories that haunt me long after reading. I've read four from your list (Dune, Death's End, The Hobbit and Imajica), and all four took permanent residence in my mind. I'm drawn to solid recommendations out of my comfort zone. I look forward to hearing what you have to say. If you want some recommendations let me know. Three or four titles spring to mind.
My question is have you read every book you would probably change your mind and how many genres are you talking because if you just read the publisher’s lists you are not giving any credence to your list

Great list and taste! I'm adding Lonesome Dove to my to-read list.
Thank you!!!! I hope you enjoy it the second time around :)

Imajica is such a great book. Clive Barker is one of the most underrated fantasy authors of all time.
Absolutely! I’m trying to spread the good word. Thanks for watching Andrew :)

He does mention genitals at random, though. Like King,. Not a complement.

I haven’t done my own top 10 yet (soon!), but we have a LOT of books in common. Thanks for the video!
How you feel about Blackwater is how I feel about Lonesome Dove. Was the last book I finished last year and I'm already itching for a reread.
Soooooo goood
Excellent list. I've read 6 of these and loved five, and I'm going to be reading East of Eden in July and Lonesome Dove in the fall. I own Blackwater too and your review has pushed it much higher on the tbr.

Well worth checking out. One of the most prolific writers of horror and dark fantasy. Truly one of a kind

Thank you Penny! :)
Great list of books Baron! People keep telling me I need to read East of Eden lol. Dune is definitely on my list too.
Oh Chas you need to!!!!
I recently read The Road and was floored by it!
Wow! So stoked it resonated with you

Read the novel “ The Way of the Corn”
i’ve read most books by stephen king but i though IT was not his best, imho the stand, salems are my favourites.
See Curator of the Lost. He has several Dune books to sell.
Everyone puts Dune on their "best books ever" list. I should probably read it, one day.

Have you read summer of night?
Yeah I have, I really enjoyed it!
Baron!!! Why did you delete the discord???
Everyone bailed
The old man and the sea?
I wasn’t nuts about it /:

It is fine if you like peddo horror .....
Blackwater you say ;)
No RoMac?! 😂
Not quite yet….. 🤔
Many people like Tolkien..and don't know what it's about.....sad
The Giver lol. This is the most generic list I've ever seen. + points for The Road though.
