Excellent video. You are the type of person that prevents other guys from getting parts they don’t need, or getting taken advantage of by an unscrupulous mechanic. We are all suffering money wise out here and I’d just like to say “thanks for the heads up”. Peace be with you and go with God my brother. 👍👍
Its 2023 ive had my 01 ram 1500 bought it with the evap leaks and never fixed it. Now it got worse cause it’s draining fuel like a semi. I have had the truck for 5 yrs. Can’t believe it took me this long to find out where the evap lines were. Im going to try to fix this. Thank you so much for the great video
I know this is an old post, but it helped me identify a hose that was dangling under my truck. I found that it went to the evap canister, but didn't know where is came from, until this video. Thanks!
Vacuum leaking it’s a complicated thing if you let it go or stay, my Dodge is giving me the code p0505 which is the air control valve but when I replaced it I still had the code, then a friend told me you have a vacuum leak but I wasn’t getting any evap codes and he said trust me, sure enough several hoses were broken replaced all of them mad at myself and then engine light and codes off, man I tell you I went fishing for a week just to celebrate, that headache lasted almost three years is like being in jail for a crime you didn’t commit, uffffff fried fish for dinner
nice video dude both connections the one by the firewall and the one under the side of my truck were busted my truck was back firing like a madman and that was the answer thanks
yes, the gas tank rollover is a multi hose block. The small nipples are prone to break off. Mine was one that went up to gascap compartment. I bought a short metal brake line, cut it & inserted into both tube/block connector and JB welded. Strong!
Thanks for the post man. I just pulled this code from my Dodge (my rig's even the same color as yours...lol). Now that I know it's nothing that will leave me stranded and can wait until the weekend, I'm gonna do just that but this weekend I'll try to run it down, and yes, everyone can screw off if they don't appreciate your video!
Thanks for the video, we replace the engine on one of our trucks, but we did not reconnect the hoses properly in those valves that you show at the beginning of your video, you just save me $$$$ with this info... thanks again...
I forgot to thank the uploader for this video. Thank you VERY much, mate! I'll take some of that snow! St. Louis has been getting ripped off lately. No good severe thunderstorms or snow in the last couple of years. heh
Way cool video , I see its 10 years old but still helps, Ive got a evap leak that i cant find for the past 2 years on my Dodge. Ive swaped so many parts and still have a PO442 code. Ive even taken it to 3 different mechanics and they tell me to sell the truck , screw them! But Im lost on this evap problem.
When the truck first started acting up, did it sound like a air hose spraying when you pushed on the gas pedal? Then went away? High rpms 2 thousand rpm
Thanks brother. By watching yours & a couple others vids I know what to look for. I'll let ya know how I fixed my leak(s) whenever I can get to it. Btw your truck pretty clean underneath for living with snow as I do.
Thank you very much for your video I really appreciate your help! I have a p0455 & P0442 on my 2003 Dodge Caravan SE and Idk where both these leaks are at and not having a smoke machine makes it harder to find. Can you help me please?
That part you showed that costs $97, what is it called? I'm having a heck of a time finding replacement hoses and connectors online. I presume that isn't part of the canister, is it? From what I've been told, that boot connecter/joiner looks cracked (this is my employee's car).
that thing does not cost 97 dollars. you replace with a coupling or replacement house end which cost next to nothing. you can replace your entire EVAP system for that price
Funny but I was looking for a video showing the Evap system on the Dodge Ram and happened across your video. I then noticed your youtube name.. My last name is Leif.
seriously if you don't know it can be dangerous because you assume every house you see is related to EVAP you will wind up actually messing with a fuel line. and wind up leaking fuel and got forbid hurt someone
black box near fuel tank it's called fuel pump.. and a leak in the fuel line from cap would cause gas to literally leak as a liquid. I am embarrassed for you . if you have to guess while your trying to teach you don't know what your doing and shouldn't bother doing a video.. I'm not trying to be an asshole but needed to be said

Thank you very much for the time you took to make this! Several years later this is still relevant! 🙏🏽
This helped me out on a 2001 Durango in 2021! Your video allowed me to be able to see what I can't without dropping the tank. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video I like how you pointed out where the hoses are all at. Thank you 😎

I've been fighting a EVAP leak on my 2001 for 4 years now
nice video dude both connections the one by the firewall and the one under the side of my truck were busted my truck was back firing like a madman and that was the answer thanks
Very helpful man!! Thats exactly what I needed to know, the evap line that goes to the rear canister. Thx for posting this vid!!

wow! So Helpful! My 2001 had a cracked/busted hose end right at the same place you said yours had. Thanks for helping me find the problem
I'm now having this issue and now I know what all to check. Nice informative vid and thanks.

I like this guy! " you can go screw off" 😂😂😂
Thanks for making this video 🙂👍🏻🇺🇸
Appreciate your very good input sir! Very good perspective, enjoyed the video, made me laugh at the beginning. Funny!
Would evap leak cause stalling? I’m having stalling out problems and shows up as Evap.
Where does that one go to on the engine block area?
How do you know where it's leaking can I test it

I just used a generic hose and fittings from the auto store, and in not sure what that part is called
I was wondering if that might be a possibility. Thanks for your reply, Leif a!! :thumbs up:
