for that last case you mentioned, I've found a better solution than friction. you can screw a small bracket into the centering ring which does an offset and holds the motor into the mount!
I used the no engine block trick in my Estes argent. I flew it on a 29 mm I105 motor it worked well. It flew to about 7000 ft and traveled At mach 2.3. The upper body tube I turned into a payload section and flew weather instruments with a speedometer and an altimeter in it and I got it back safely.
Tim I currently use a grey Estes screw on engine retainer on my 29mm madcow solar express that i use but somehow whenever I insert an aerotech F20-4w the screwcap doesn't go on all the way to hold the engine in place, am I using the wrong retainer ?
Excellent video. The hobby has come a long way since launching the Estes kits at the local park back in 1979.
Thanks. A lot has changed
I love how real the dude is. "May your...uhh...well anyway we'll see you next time!" Lol
Yea, Tim forgot the quote haha.
Ok, burning questions, can aerotech engines be used in estes rockets, star orbiter and maxi mosquito?
Yes. Go for it.

Hi Nate - got a repair job to do and this sounds interesting. Do you have any photos or illustrations of this?
For the last rocket with the rear centering ring all the way aft what about fabricating kaplow clips?

How far does the motor mount tube need to stick out from the centering ring to epoxy the flange?
Great Video Tim! you make it look so easy

It's hard to say without seeing it. Sorry.
08:44 May the winds be calm,
May the skies be blue,
And may all your rockets fly straight and true!
What is the highest category i can fly without a certification 1 ?
It depends. If you're older than 18, then a G80.
