I've been playing for 4 months and am very new to the concept of "scales". As soon as I learned the Am blues scale I came here to jam along, randomly climbing up and down the scale. This might be my first improv but man that felt so good!
Keep up the good work 👏 some day you will have the "awakening" and you will be fabulous every time you touch your instrument. It's definitely worth the work and time.
@@OverheatingHotdog It’s kinda ok. I moved somewhere and couldn’t pay much attention to guitar for reasons, so I don’t think I have a 5 year worthy progress. Yes! I'm not a very good player, but man.... with a killer backing track like this one, I can do the same. Get into a groove with the pentatonic scale, all up and down the neck.... and just have a field day with it! Get my sound system dialed in, up there in the music room, and pretend I'm a pro for a little while! LOL Agree with you 100%. This is a killer track!
Actually qith this backing track u can add a couple of notes that also fits in cuz its in minor so u can add a F and also B and there are other notes but i don’t have my guit rn so yee
Dude, that’s all it takes. I’d say add a couple more scales. Figure out a few repeater licks and some great places to bend and you’re golden. Find your own tone through a quality amp. Slash from GNR made his money with the blues scale and pentatonic and great tone and embellishment. Improvise a lot, come up with some of your moves. Honestly, I think if you just kept the pentatonic alone and played in a band the audience would love it because your solos would sound great to the ear. Screw trying to be Hendrix.

Here's a little tip to expand your chops. Start with a note in the scale, slide on up , same string to the next note that sounds like it fits. Might be one fret, might be 3 frets up. But always look around the neck for a new starting point. Cause now from that new spot you found, run the scale from that position in the scale. It will be liberating in that "stuck in one area" tar pit of advancement. Every string has a A or a note in that scale. Let your ear hear it as you slide up or down at your own pace. Listening for that sweet note that fits.
Thank you, thank you!!! I had never thought about backing tracks on you tube. You just made my world a better place, I will be practicing like crazy on my new amp and guitar 🎸. Cheers!!
