I love explorer! There's a deck you made awhile back for standard, mono-blue ninjitsu artifact aggro that was so good, I'd love to see an explorer version of that deck now that Kamigawa has rotated out. Love your videos!
Not sure what the Amalia combo was, but if appears Explorer is just a combo jungle. This is an Izzet combo deck; Phoenix is a combo deck; there's that +1/+1 counters combo deck; Ygra and kitty combo; etc.. Maybe Amalia was banned because it was easier?
Yeah the Amalia combo was very easy to assemble with cards like Chord of Calling and was very resilient. Besides being powerful the combo had a bunch of other issues, like games sometimes ending in a draw because you would get stuck in an unbreakable infinite loop if someone cast a pump spell on Amalia to get it above 20 power.

This was my favorite deck in the format until amalia and vampires pushed it from tier 1.5 to unplayable. Glad to see it's good again

Phoenix is not a combo, it's just a tempo deck with a very strong graveyard synergy

that WotC made the card Creativity is pretty baffling. Prima facie, it's only okay or cool in the hands of impossibly bad players.

Don't follow explorer meta much what did Sorin do that drew a ban?
Consistent turn 3 Vein Rippers were a little too good. Would also make it harder to balance future Vampires having to take Sorin into account.
