Sturtzhauw (1.53v.1) in The Art of Combat 1570.
The main reason for using Strutzhauw is for Zufechten (Onset), to change from another guard to Ochs and cut with adding momentum, by Joachim Meyer's definition. But if you always use Strutzhauw to set up another cut without creating any threat, that will only be a wasted tempo for provoking an incoming attack, likely a quick Absetzen (counter-thrust) to your shoulder. One of the simplest ways to avoid this pattern forming is to actually cut with this movement and maintain the threat. Of course, you also can use this opening to Reitzer (provoke) and counter the counter.
Another advantage of Strutzhauw is the trajectory. You may already notice that the Strutzhauw is the opposite of Schielhauw. Schielhauw covered the line and made a sound safety cut. Strutzhauw opened the line and asked the face smash. But the trajectory of Strutzhauw is similar to Krumphauw or Doplieren, like a hooking-in motion. Therefore if the opponent is pointing straight-up parries, your Strutzhauw will hook in on their middle or weak, short edge cut landed if in range, or thrust if you are out of range and continue. Like all the similar outside attacks, you need to Winden back to cover the line or dodge away.
