As an FFXI player of 21 years who still plays to this day, this made me emotional. I don't really play XIV, but they did Vana'diel good here. I LOVE that you can actually see the Galka in the Shadow Lord's face at 27:43! And Prishe with references to all her moves and dialogue from CoP! And assuming that this raid is actually taking place in the real Walk of the Echoes (the world between worlds), that means Eorzea and Vana'diel aren't that far apart from each other. The two worlds may just be a couple Cavernous Maws away from connecting each other. Although... not sure how I felt about the AA voices haha; they always sounded a lot more sinister/monstrous in my head. Thank you, CGInferno, for uploading without any commentary! I loved going on a ride through the First Walk without any interruptions. 🙂
It was later revealed that Vana'diel does exist in a far off world, but the area you're in is a recreation of it made by Sareel Ja using a wonder ore called electrope and based off of the visions he saw of it. Right after this, you visit a near perfect recreation of a section of Lower Jeuno, but most of the area's in ruins, floating debris and all
As an OG XI player who left in the WoTG era this makes me SUPER happy and emotional lol. 75 era XI will always be my favorite gaming experience of all time.
@Sol-ct9oe I agree, but I love how chaotic it is. Gives me heavy Dun Scaith vibes with how quickly things can go to shit and turn into panic mode. So much fun.
i kinda knew that shadow lord would be the main boss since poster status, but i really was expecting AAs to be the final boss as a twist given the plot

Prishe was the main protagonist for FF11's expansion, Chains of Promathia. Which released in 2004 in Japan, 2006 worldwide. Lol. That's Prishe's voice.
@@Anonymous-qo4so Prishe was featured in Dissidia, where she had a completely different voice, without the cockney accent. The push to make everything sound so British takes me out of the characters. @@treyenma5206 "The push to make everything sound so British" In the new expansion where people speak with distinctly American accents and one of the main characters has an Icelandic accent. Uh huh. Everyone from Eorzea is British because that's what Eorzea is based off of. Tural similarly is America, so everyone has American accents there.
Never played FF11 but this feels so...meh? Previous raids based on other FF titles had some cool things for people unfamiliar but this isnt very exciting looking. Will play it in a few weeks when I log back in to see how it plays but not really excited. It does look like it comes from an older MMO so I guess they nailed it.

Man they really amped up the difficulty with this raid. I don't think anyone was expecting that.
I think it's more chaotic than hard, but I will admit if people go down it makes it substantially harder due to a lot of stacking damage

Yes because the AA defeated the shadow lord.
omg take me back to vana'diel
google ffxi horizon
I just started a series about returning to vanadiel in 2024 and its surprising how fun it is, despite it being mostly a single player game now.

AAGK having only one swing animation is a bit disheartening. They could have put a bit more effort into it...
