San Diego FC has signed Hirving “Chucky” Lozano to a four-year contract. The 28-year-old Mexican International star will make his debut for the Club in February 2025.
Much rather have signed a younger player from South America. This guys career is at a downward spiral. But for the marketing and Mexican fans it’s smart I guess
@@SoccerlandUSA I hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen him play recently for the majority of the season and since he was doing bad at Napoli last season as well. This signing is just a marketing stunt based on how he’s been playing. There’s nothing wrong with criticism the goal is for overall improvement. I won’t just blindly show support. I want this team to be great
@@morosz1159 got it, I understand your point. Honestly I haven’t been following that closely, so my first reaction was “how come a player like Lozano, Serie A champion, is coming to San Diego? At 28 years old, why don’t you wanna stay in Europe?” So I was very pleasantly surprised that San Diego was able to sign him. But I do remember him based on 2023 and earlier. Therefore, maybe you are right, maybe the dip in form caused Napoli to let the guy go, and he couldn’t find himself a team in Europe attractive enough, so he is coming to us. Could be that too. But like you said, I think the signing is still good because of the name recognition and mexican population, who are going to love to see him here in San Diego. The merch is going to be selling very well with his name
