    Is really great to know that Anderson University was historically founded in 1848 and currently in 2023 it ranks 25th nationally in student engagement according to the Wall Street Journal, standing out in Anderson for its historical and academic value and every year student applications to Anderson University increase.

    Hi Aubree. At about the 01:50 mark you say Hartwell Dam is how Anderson got it's name as the "Electric City" That's not correct. Hartwell Dam wasn't completed until 1963. Anderson was dubbed "The Electric City" in 1895 when William C. Whitner built a hydroelectric power plant in McFalls Mill at High Shoals on the Rocky River. It supplied power to light the city and also supplied electricity to several small industries in Anderson.

    What are best areas for homes with acreage?

    • @aubree_lewis
      @aubree_lewis  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would look more in the Easley, Pickens areas. Maybe also Williamston, Belton, Fountain Inn. There may also be more acreage in Duncan, Lyman, Inman, Boiling Springs areas.

    Is it a diverse city or is it primarily Caucasian, Anglo? Got offered a position and currently live in the Southwest 4 corners area. Not sure how I feel about going out there. Especially being half Native American and half Mexican. Last time I was in the South Carolina area people asked if I had my citizenship and a bunch of messed up questions. The Mexican side of my family have been in the US since the 1400’s as a Native American this is our land! Never had any issues in Arizona, Texas, Colorado and New Mexico. Up that way there seems to be issues cultural diversity.

      For me personally I think you’d be just fine. At the same time I’m sorry that was that was the first impression this area gave 😬 I believe that Greenville is a melting pot of so many people from all over the country/world, etc. I will say though that the number one thing I get from people that tell me what they love about the upstate is that people are kind 🤷🏻‍♀️❤️ not sure if this answer helped, but happy to answer any questions you have!

      What an ignorant comment. Homeland park is a rough area, and some spots in west anderson can be, but I've never felt unsafe walking around by myself at night downtown, and it was far more "dangerous" when I moved here in 2014.

    • @dawson0610
      @dawson0610 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zchris87v80 So tell me again how using national data to research an area is ignorant? Ignorance would be if I hadn't done my research. Feeling safe and being safe could just be that you are ignorant to the fact you live in a dangerous city. Ignorance is bliss I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @zchris87v80 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dawson0610 by that logic, no one should live in the US because it's four times more dangerous than Qatar. If you want to live your life behind a computer screen, go ahead. Don't walk outside, don't talk to anyone.

    We are planning with in 6-8 months to move to Anderson. Visited even the supposed “hoods” today actually Sunday saw the drugs / issues among new houses it’s clear steps are being taken . I cannot locate any info about the accomplishments of the Police / Sheriffs/ law enforcement. An honest video would go a long way to help people who are wanting to move to help the community etc. Trust is such an issue . One would have to be clients think drugs have not touched absolute right ? What can you tell a future resident more about Anderson’s city plans ?. I cannot find anything sincerely Sally

      Hey Sally! Thanks for the comment. I actually have a friend of mine who is a detective in Anderson and have helped many people relocate here. I know I'll be doing another video about Anderson this summer, though it might end up being a live stream. I'm going to take all your questions and really research into them and see what answers I can find for you. Is there anywhere you are looking particular or just want a general overview?

    • @1955mercury
      @1955mercury ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can tell you Sally Lamore. I've lived here 56 years. The sheriffs department does a wonderfull job. They arrest the druggies and the judges release them. The sheriffs department arrests them again and the judges release them again. It gives the sheriff's department something usefull to do and it gives the judges something usefull to do. They might go out of business if the system was any different. It also gives the public defenders something usefull to do.
