Again, it is hard to believe this gem has never been published so far... Far from intending to minimise the original version, IMHO Kalina Jędrusik's rendition of this Paul Anka song takes it to a whole new, exquisitely refined and tender level that the original is lacking... Thank you so much for sharing!
KALINA was a color feathered bird among greyish sparrows of that time - different in every way, her intimate style of singing included. Equally loved and hated, as many personalities reaching forward their time. I have strongly belonged to the first group. Merci, Patrick.
@@jerzyplaczkiewicz9786 She was a unique glowing star at the musical firmament for sure, but I cannot imagine one single thing that could be hated about her; hence definitely count me in, since I equally belong to that first group :-)
@@1920sfan1 ... You never lived in a communist ruled country, as I guess. There was a certain model of behaviour obligatory that was officially accepted, by the rulers and a part of population, being rather in accordance with the taste of a Big Brother . Kalina was out of it - she was a character of her own, being constantly in opposition - with her conduct, style and tastes, as well as openly expressed judgments. She must have been a loser, generally speaking. There were periods that she was not performing at all, being refused tv, radio and film. I see you are shocked but that was the life then and there (which for me means - here).
@@jerzyplaczkiewicz9786 No, I never lived under communist rule and as such, of course, I can only vaguely imagine how it was; only someone who underwent this regime can genuinely describe it. I was not sufficiently aware that she was a rebel, being considered as contrarian by comformist authorities and part of the population. In such circumstances I do understand that in several ways she ended up being an "outlaw". Taking into account the great artist she was, however, I can only feel sadness and deep regret about her harsh and arduous fate. She would have deserved way better and more artistic freedom.
@@1920sfan1 - that was the reason that she was even not offered to make her LP record ! - recording company was of course a governmental body under control of a ruling party. Just a few singles, radio recordings that's all that was left. Something still will appear here; her being different, apart from her talent, made her especially dear to me.
