Nice! You are right, some rotation would be extremely cool. Then the flight will be much more stable. If you use higher pressure (like 350 bar) you can also make the weapon portable.
*Not sure why I love these guys but I do. Sure they'd be horrible neighbors but I love their videos!*
@@1nvisible1 Imagine if they lived next to each other, it would be a very funny village to live in :)
yes spinning would be awesome but this way its more like experimenting with the gravity cannon from half life 2!
what about smooth sharp edges? grind the teeth off or use sharpened ring blades the same size?
I sometimes help my friend, who is a carpenter, in his workshop and he have told me a story when something like this hapenned in real life. Some guys have put a sawblade on a mashine that it wasn't build for- i'm not sure about the terminology but i think it's called a router in english, but It was a big, stationary one. The mashine could spin on a few gears like 3000 RPMs, 6000 and so on, all the way up tu 13000 RPMs. The blade however was rated to spin 3000 RPMs max. They forgot to make sure that the mashine was on the right gear and turned it on, on a 13000 RPMs setting. Suddenly they heard "hshshshshs" as the saw was passing thrue the air. One of the guys turned pale and said that it barely missed him. The blade dissapeared- all they found was a groove in the worshop wall, about the width of the saw. (Sorry if i misspeld something or my english is bad- it's not even close to my first language)
I once stuck a 10 inch 7200 rpm sawblade on a 13000 rpm angle grinder I made only one small cut with it and it cut really fast but it was too scary for me to use my fingers were about 2 inches away from the blade with no guard
The 148 dislikes are from Ravenholm zombies.
LOL, I was just going to post something like "well, it's not quite a gravity gun, but it will keep you safe in Ravenholm".
Yup, I heard the zombies are up in arms over this video! They are trying to say it's not politically correct to harm zombies?
Exactly what I was thinking. I was going to make a comment about Half-Life 2 - Ravenholm, and *then I saw (pun intended) yours!*
Husband and Wife, who are also Best Friends, doing crazy “Experiments” together!
This is one of my Favorite channels! Keep up the great work!
These are field trials and not experiments. An experiment requires a control group and a hypothesis to either prove or disprove.
If you could find a way to make it spin, you could shoot it out over the lake and get the water skipping world record lol
Slingshot channel did a blade launcher with a sled than spun the blade, so it is definitely do-able.
@@aaronshapiro2542 I was just getting ready to mention that. Co-op project between Beyond the Press and The Slingshot Channel? Yes please!
4:02 reminded me of Oppenheimer: "I am become death, destroyer of worlds. I'm going to save the high-speed."
1:34 Ah yes, Finnish water, also known as ice
I like your rational explanation for making a blade cannon.
"Modificate" and "I'm going to check the high speed" should be on a t-shirt
@Vee "This shirt looks harmless but it can attack at any moment, so we must deal with it"
This is the most wholesome channel on the internet, "Thats Mushroom Smoke, don't breath that", that's the best advice I've heard today.
Builds saw blade doomsday machine.
Wife: "Well done!"
life goal; find a woman that is into doing crazy shit like you are...
Joerg Sprave will be wanting to put a magazine on this :D
I would need also larger compressor :D I takes 5 seconds to load the disc and 5 minutes to fill up the tank :D
"accelerate to healthy speed."
Interesting definition of, "healthy."
Splendid. The spinning version will be devastating. Looking forward to seeing it.
"Are you going out to do something dangerous again?" - "Nah, just to play some frisbie!" - "M-kay..."
Turn the barrel 90 degrees. See how far it will roll on edge across the lake. Dangerous? Of course it is!
I doubt it would go far but it would make some seriously awesome high-speed footage
for some reason i had a small fight in my head. On one side this spinning blade, on the other side Furze's Rip tire...
Lauri, only you could say 'We're going to cut a piece of wood with a saw blade' and still hold my interest :-)
It's like when you shoot the sawblades with the gravity gun in Half Life 2
"The enemy is attacking what are we going to do?"
"Hold my beer"
"Don't never modificate your tools."
Words to live by. 👍
it's no fun if you don't modify your tools. You just need to be creative. Come on live on the wild side.
Modifying a tool carefully is better than just using it wrong and hoping for the best.
@@frankmortensen7651 YES. He does "modificate" tools quite frequently.😂👌
I can see why many people trust that kind of shielding now
One of the best videos yet! Thanks for coming up with this crazy stuff.
I just like listening to their accents- “Hoowly moowly!”
@@issadraco532 I think it’s Laury and Anni. So Larry and Ann in American. Every time I see something cool now I say “Hoowly mooowly!” My wife hates it. Lol.
I agree one of the best machines you have invented. My favorite. We need to see this tool more!
Definitley Ballistic gell. period.
Third ...
But take a leaf out of Skallagrim's book, and make a torso, out of ballistic gel, with pvc pipes for ribs, and whatever you prefer as analogues for internal organs.
Set the target ~30m from the 'muzzle', and vary the 'muzzle' velocity from 10 to 30m/s, in 5m/s increments, so that you enable viewers, whom are more used to ft/s, an idea of just what happens at those velocities.
Getting the blade to spin, though, will take a lot of doing, mechanically speaking, especially if you are trying to get the blade to fly in a straight line; so simply firing it as is, personally speaking, is good enough ...
@@nigelft A potentially easy way of putting spin on it could just be a small rubber bump on one side of the muzzle at the end, similar to how "hop-up" works in airsoft guns. This would even have the added benefit of knocking the sabot loose sooner.
That, or the blade gets stuck and the whole thing explodes. Either way it should be pretty entertaining!
@@venbrou I think a notch to catch the sabot and having the sabot designed to release the blade from one side should do it
@@nigelft and possibly a headcrab head, this video is pure Half Life 2 memories
Overhead camera was the best view. . Loved slow motion color film too. You 2 are great and pretty darn awesome!
The first slow mo saw shot is one of the best pieces of video you guys ever made
HAHAHAHAHAHA I"m glad my cousin and I weren't smart enough to build this when we were kids. It's bad enough we used to throw them as ninja stars!
Same. Had a bigass tree at my uncle's house that we all collectively killed over the years with saw blade "dart" games. Lol
Lmao use to have competition with my cousins on who could get them lodged into a tree the best.
Aliens don't need to fear the military : our TH-camrs are wayyyyyy more dangerous !
If you think youtubers are crazy you haven't seen bored soldiers unsupervised
These guys give the best entertainment on youtube - they got the product - the style - and that accent is the best on the planet.
Reminds me to double check the arbor bolt on my miter saw... 😬
Gordon Freeman approves of this.
I am searching for this comment lol
Prepare 4 unseen concuences--gman
Yesss another video game weapon brought to life! Discarding sabots for saw blades make me happy.
Lol great videos as always.
Thank the lord for TH-cam & folks like these two! Godspeed!!
When i was young, My friend had a saw blade on His weed eater! It worked great, and made lots of scary sounds!!
Madness at its most brilliant, you guys are fantastic stay safe and keep em coming
Nice! Like the music! Think I saw your ice fishing video! 👍like the smoke mushrooms 🤣! Makes me think of the movie Krull!😜
Lauri and Colin Furze need to get together.
Well they have their similarities and differences. Furze is great with building complicated machines, welding, hydraulics and electrical stuff. He also has pretty wild imagination. Lauri in the other hand is great with machining and metal works all along, and he is great with destroying things with very innovative ways. In my mind there could be a collab where Furze builds some machine that should be undestructable, and Lauri finds a way to destroy it.
I love it when something happens and he just says “check”
Everyone who has played ravenholm would already know just how dangerous a launched saw blade can be
lol the extra content and the smile after , you are like kids
i love that mind :D
You should make a hardened tool cannon! Impaler cannon 5000000 Great vid yall! Keep up the great work!
Hey Lauri, I have one idea for "safety research" that happened to me a few years ago. I left a bottle of R404a (a/c refrigerant gas) on the passenger in my car and parked it on a hot summer day. It heated up with the sun and exploded!! Destroyed the seat stuffing and the bottle was propelled and perforated the car door. It would be really nice to see that in slow motion! Maybe even during winter you can replicate the experiment by having the bottle sitting on a hot plate or something...
THIS... is the GREATEST channel EVER!!! Just imagine if that thing was spinning!!!
I always have a sudden urge to air guitar when the intro plays!!
"that wood hurt " haha
Woodworker Don approves of Anni's & Lauri's favorite being the wood post that Anni described as "That's nasty!"
My first experience with your channel, and you two are adorable!
Love your videos. Keep up good work. You two are great.
"WOW. Dats nasty!"
That was AWESOME! Yes Mr Laurie well done indeed.
Now off to my air compressor, I know I've got some old circular saw blades laying around here somewhere? !
Some years ago I read a news account about an industrial accident, where a saw blade on a table saw or some type of milling machine either shattered or flew off the arbor, sailed across the room, struck the wall, logged in it . Much like the clip with the 4x4 stock. Those saw blades can be dangerous when not properly used.
After these last few videos I want a shirt that says "I'm going to go save the high-speed!"
You are awesome. Love your builds.
That was way cool!!! The music was good too! Thanks for the entertainment!
I'm gonna try my absolute best to not modificate my saws. Thanks for the tip
We always called those mushrooms "devil's snuff."
I'm pretty sure I have seen some where that"you are going to shoot your eye out kid", seems to apply here, not that I don't love it!
Keep up the good work, crazy stuff is sometimes the funnest stuff😂
I feel like if it was spinning it would be more stable thru flight but that orange thing that’s hold big it actually did really good at keeping it level. Awesome vid!!
In Canada we call those smoke mushrooms "Puffballs"
that's maamuna or ground egg and it's excellent tasting shroom when it's still fresh (ie. not smoking).
Wait, we got these over here ? I wonder if they grow around in my region, would be quite interesting to find some wild ones ^^
@@PyroNinja713 Yup, you get giant puffballs over there as well, looks like your ones grow more than twice the size of UK ones as well. Also tasty if you get them young.
Welcome to “Beyond Depressed channel” haha
But you guys are awesome!! I love your content
I smile so much when I watch your videos.
this is your best work in a while!
BTP on video: "this is test how dangerous a saw blade flying lose from the tool is!"
Reality: "I like that weapon from Unreal Tournament a whole lot."
I like the way you talk makes things more fun.
I love the toys. I am glad you post the stuff i like to watch. Destruction at it finest. Thank you
"Excuse me? What we have made?"
I am become death.
This is delightfully insane! :D I think you should try cutting meat, frozen meat and maybe meat with bone in it as a simulation of a workplace accident from hell. ;)
Awesome video guys!
AWESOME VIDEO AS ALWAYS GUYS!!!
4:15 The duct tape saw it coming and tried to bail out
so what i learned is hl2 was pretty spot on when it came to launching saw blades
Very impressive... I really love your Channel
I absolutely love you both so much! You are the coolest.
“Dat’s nasty...”
😏👍
Yes Ma’am...
This is the sort of thing the world has absolutely no need for whatsoever and I am so thrilled that you made it anyway!
This was one heck of a video!
With _everything_ you guys have shot out of cannons over the years, you've basically shown us the movie "Twister" irl.
The "3-d printed piston thing" should be called a sabot.
Alfred Morency please keep in mind their native language is Finnish and I, as a native English speaker, didn’t know the word “sabot” either lol
My granny had a name for smoke mushrooms, and it is "Devil's Snuff-box" ... Enjoyed the video and MAYHEM very much!
The air behind the blade makes it 100x more awesome and it's already pretty awesome lol

Who's Mark and what does he do on the wall?
It's Mark Dent. He used to bully Lauri, now Lauri is bigger than him. It helps that Lauri smarter and crazier.
Mark is a pretty stiff character - you could as well be talking to a concrete wall.
Incredible. Well done guys. Greetings from HUN :)
"HEY! There is mark on the wall! Check!"
I love these guys!
See if the saw blade can cut through a Book with a hard and soft covers on it.
If you added a small cam at the end of the launcher it might make it spin the blade and add flight stability
I was thinking if the “sabot” could be held at the end of the “barrel” then maybe a small cam like you say on one side that indexes on a saw tooth so thar when it stops the blade momentum pushes it past the cam inducing spin
You have to make it spin inside the pipe like a bullet. It needs to start spinning when it's still quite slow and accelerating.
I saw, that the pipe was bending. It's still too weak to hold the pressure.
Currently to fire the blade the sabot is needed. Otherwise it would destroy the machine
I was thinking that they could make the sabot with an axle holder, and then spin it up with compressed air through a small hole at the side of the pipe.
These 2 channels is like a physics class. All kinds of neat little things going on.
AWESOME and love the music too
Good news more mayhem coming soon! I just started my printer and it's making more sabots for next weeks video :D
I'm surprised that the poly stopped it- thought it was going through for sure.
8:53 Holy moly! You should launch clay targets used to practice duck hunting.
Do some Rocket Sled videos.
MORE mayhem is always good mayhem.👍
Maybe you need to make some holes in the holder so that air can come through (edit: when the blade is released) and put some metal tabs in the end of the barrel to stop the holder from flying out with the blade. Then again, there probably is so much force that you'd destroy the holder anyway when you try to stop it from flying out with the blade.
