While memberships are an awesome way for people to publicly endorse a channel, there has to be a healthy way for people to publicly criticize specific videos. Dislike counts have served that purpose for years. Please bring them back so the negativity doesn't funnel into other areas, like the comments section.
Too late, But don't worry the most disliked channels will have their comments turned off and will still be boosted in the algorithm because those channels are "loyal".

Nice feature! Even better would be some sort of public dislike counter so that you could see whether or not the video you're watching is worth it at a glance. It would really help the massive influx of spam, scams, and fake stuff that has infested this platform and that your moderation seems utterly helpless to stop!

Don’t forget that the dislike counter is also very good for long video essay content too. Ones where the speaker’s opinions… and… views of the world are most often expressed. Videos that’ll perhaps take a long while to find something potentially abhorrent in them.

You should disclose how much the creator will receive and how much youtube will keep. That info should be visible everywhere the amount is displayed, not hidden in help pages or as notes or legal stuff.

We're already seeing channels upload videos using a thumbnail that tricks people into clicking on a video. The viewer believes the thumbnail image occurs at some point in the video but never does. If only there was something like a visible dislike bar so the viewer wouldn't have wasted their time on clickbait

There's a Chrome extension called Return TH-cam Dislikes and it works perfectly.
You should disclose how much the creator will receive and how much youtube will keep.
That info should be visible everywhere the amount is displayed, not hidden in help pages or as notes or legal stuff.

What a useful button with a great function! You know what button also is nice to press when it has a function? You guessed it! THE DISLIKE BUTTON WOULD REALLY BE NICE IF IT ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING
We're already seeing channels upload videos using a thumbnail that tricks people into clicking on a video. The viewer believes the thumbnail image occurs at some point in the video but never does. If only there was something like a visible dislike bar so the viewer wouldn't have wasted their time on clickbait

Bring back the dislike button. Any possible benefit is greatly outweighed by the cons. This is sacrificing user experience for no gain on the part of the user. It's so incredibly annoying, and honestly flat out shows the lack of care that you have for the opinions of your users.

I like the Memberships, but YT needs to really improve the communication with/about members. I get no notification when someone joins or leaves. I have no automatic 'thank you' when someone joins or leaves. Y'all need to go look at Patreon, and -steal- adopt many of their features, and while you are there figure out how they do it for 5% instead of 30%. 😎
