'64 was a GREAT year! Great Strats were made, the Rolling Stones first album hit, the Beatles send their careers skyrocketing via the Ed Sullivan appearance, The Ford Mustang was born, A Fistful of Dollars began the Spaghetti Western craze, Goldfinger debuted, Anderton's was born, I was born. 'Nuff said.

Yep - I was playing in 1964....and in Jim Marshal's in Hanwell you could have bought a Strat for £50....nobody played them; nobody wanted one. We had to wait until Jimi turned up to change all that. Wish I'd bought a couple - ha!!

I was 17 in 1964....lots of players hanging at JMs at that time....Pete Townshend, Ron Wood, Mitch Mitchell, John Entwistle, Keith Moon, were guys I knew then.

That's really nice of Lee to give Pete his strat back if they sell the guitars.

  • @benlogan430

Remember that we all have our licks. The Captain is just lucky enough to have a signature lick that we all know! If we were in his shoes our licks would come out too. If you analyze Charlie Parker’s solos you’ll discover he had only something like 32-33 licks that he arranged over every song. I don’t use different words every time I speak and I’m not gonna play new licks every time I play either. It’s how you use those words and notes that’s interesting! So Rock on Captain because I myself like your licks!

Came here to say dammit Lee give the man his guitar back. And as I was typing that’s what you said you’d do. You’re a class act. I’ll never forget how kind you were to me and my daughter in your shop. We had come to Andertons on a trip to the U.K. from Australia and you were clearly busy and stopped to say hello and chat to us. 15 months later she still talks about it all the time.

For me, the '61 far and away. And that says more about the '61 than this '64 because the '64 still sounds and looks fantastic. But that '61-- in either the green or the blue -- made me all warm and fuzzy and tingly. 🙂 Wish I could afford one of those.
Also, I may have missed it, but I would love to see a quick shot of each of your pedal boards during your guitar demos.

I'm always tempted to order one of "Pete's Strat" from you. As I live in New Jersey it's faintly ridiculous to have a guitar that was shipped from California to Surrey then back to NJ... However should you do a Shell Pink one at some point I may not be able to resist. Lovely tones therein. Best, Pete.

Well done Captain, the solo you did in the intro was on-point as was the Pink Floyd bit.

I'd love it in Fiesta Red or Daphne Blue, but alas way out of my budget. I used to have a Custom Shop relic '61 in Fiesta Red on long-term loan from a friend around 2003/4 and he wouldn't sell it to me, even though he didn't ever play it. It was the one guitar I miss the most in my life. It was perfect. This one sounds amazing too.

Bruh think it could be a really cool idea for you guys to maybe do a DIY guitar build, maybe like a partscaster or something? Maybe Pete and the Cap could both do it and then showcase them to each other on camera. I know Rob and Lee did one before with the Tele with the scalloped neck but really loved that video so would be cool to see another. Maybe with a bit more of the guitar work being done on camera... could be cool for all the people who are locked in their houses right now, gives us a project to keep busy with... keep up the great work regardless dudes, stay safe!
