This was really fun to watch; I learned about Norwegian politics and was also looking up the players on Wikipedia while I watched: Dag Otto is a Tour de France bicycle guy, Marion Raven and Silya Nymoen are singers and this Vegard person is some other guy's Turkish brother. ;-)
Also, I have to ask Hva betyr "huskestue"? Is that like "å huske" meaning remember (which I know from a board game from my childhood in the 1970s called "Husker Du")? But more importantly, does stue means a room in your house? Google translates it as 'living room" but I vaguely remember from Duolingo it is just any room in the house... I sense there is another meaning?
Anyway, tusen takk for the effort to translate an entire 40 minute show!
PS: I thought the physical torture thing was something only Ylvis did, I assumed because they are brothers they could get away with it. But no, it turns out that, evidently, nordmenn love watching celebrities of all kinds get beaten and shocked. Maybe it's the inner Viking simmering beneath the complacent exteriors of our civilized Scandinavian brothers? ;-)

"huske" means "to remember" and "stue" is as you say "living room". "huskestue" isnt a word that people use ever, its just these two words are put together for this tv show.
thats why the setting for this show is made to look like a living room, and the questions are "easy" so all you have to do is to remember them as fast as possible.

It is a Norwegian word, though. ordbok.uib.no/perl/ordbok.cgi?OPP=huskestue&ant_bokmaal=5&ant_nynorsk=5&begge=+&ordbok=begge

The word "Huskestue" is actually a kind of concept. It usually involves chastisement. When you are being told off for something and (rightfully) reprimanded, you sometimes say that the situation became completely huskestue.

    • @ahkkariq7406

"Stue" has two meanings, living room or cottage. Huskestue, from the two parts "å huske/to remember or to swing (like in a childrens swing)" and "stue/living room/cottage" means noise or commotion in a room/house as a result of someone doing something wrong. In Norwegian, we also say "da ble det liv i stua/the living room came to life", which means that everyone in the house is upset by something, positive or negative. I guess the actual meaning of "huske" in the word "huskestue" is swing, everything is moving/rocking, like in a rocking chair, but in the TV Show they use the double meaning of the word "huske", to remember.

Though it feels like that everytime you hear a foreign language in the beginning, unfortunately the host is speaking in a very relaxed pace. Speech elsewhere is usually a tad faster.

I'm kinda surprised; Marion Ravn did a decent job here, looking over it she got more right answers than Silya. It's just that Vegard completely dominated, and Dag Otto completely didn't.
Maybe it's a bit patronising saying I'm surprised she did a good job, but, so be it. I didn't expect it :D
