This is perfect! I went to school in a very diverse area and it was awesome seeing our band directors build new programs from the ground up like this! By the time I graduated, we had implimented a Jazz Band program, a Beginner Band program for high schoolers who had never played an instrument before, and a Cultural Music class that would teach about music history from many parts of the world that are often overlooked in typical Theory courses. I love this. Music is one of the very few universal languages. Using that language to bring people together is one of the most precious things we have in this life.
AMEN! Ppl talk trash about Millenials, but the kids I come into contact with, as a 56 year old lady, are kind, polite, loving, helpful and aware of others around them. My generation may be tougher, but these kids will make a better future for the world.
Proud of the students, band, and community. Always be proud of your culture and your color. We embrace our color because God chose it for us. Viva la piel canela!!! Sending blessings and great success from San Antonio, Texas. Texas has several Universities where you can major in Mariachi!!!!
There’s more good people than hateful people. Can’t let the miserable folks divide us as Americans. America 🇺🇸 will Always be an amazing place to call home and live amongst different people who may look different but are American.
The future of mariachi music is not in Mexico, were young people are now turning to música de banda, reggaetón or corridos tumbados and have forgotten about mariachi music. Mariachi music is often regarded as "music for old people". The future of this music is now in the hands of mexicans that are US citizens. The future of mariachi music is now up north, in the US.
@@imperialmotoring3789 in small rural towns all across america there are plenty of murders and drug dealers that share the load of crime. This is America!
It's the obligation of immigrants to assimilate to the host country's culture, not the other way around. This inversion is one of the symptoms that we're living in a dying society. Some cultures voluntarily assimilate. Some cultures invade and conquer. Weak societies accept being conquered.
Oh brother, give it a rest. I'm Italian American. The same nonsense was said to my ancestors in the 19th century in Little Italy by the so-called nativists who were of English Dutch descent. Give it a rest. It's a nice change and an addition to the typical meat and potatoes culture of the Midwest.
Do you have a problem with the historically European ethnic enclaves in cities like New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia? They existed outside of WASP culture in every way, and eventually their children became assimilated into what you call the host culture. It's the very essence of why America is referred to as a "Melting Pot.
@@failyourwaytothetop _"The same nonsense was said to my ancestors in the 19th century in Little Italy by the so-called nativists who were of English Dutch descent."_ That pressure is how assimilation happens. They were right to do so. _"It's a nice change and an addition to the typical meat and potatoes culture of the Midwest."_ That's not your call to make. Culture is not some product for you to exploit and consume for entertainment. Culture is the social fabric that keeps a society together. If people don't want that crap, they shouldn't be forced to accept it. A different culture literally means a different society. That is how separation or civil conflict starts. Yugoslavia certainly had "a nice change." How about I go to Italy and start waving the American flag everywhere and demanding everyone make more hamburgers to accomodate me? What kind of treatment do you think I'd get from Italians? How about if I demand they give me pizza with pineapple? I would get run out of town, lol.
@@paulh1918 _"Ok so when are you gonna start assimilating to Native American culture?!"_ Simplistic, tiresome soundbite. I don't live in "Native America," whatever that is. I live in the United States of America. If you want to be a smartass, then you're only validating my point further. A society that does not enforce its standards will be destroyed. So, thank you for proving my point. And if you're going to try the "real owner" game, then American Indians came from Asia. They don't belong here, either. Nice try, though.
Mariachi music can make anybody from any culture happy & smile!

Any students playing the guitar?
People dont know whats diversity means
If you notice they didn't name the actual town there's a reason for that just putting it out there
Isn't Denison an actual town?
The town name was mentioned over a dozen times lol
What video did you watch…
Call us Mexican-American, latino is too broad. We are not all the same
Traje = dress lol
