Can we talk about for it’s time, having so many voice lines, and animations? Like, they animated limping for leg shots, losing their gun or hurting their arm etc, the reload animations are really good, you can tell a lot of love went into this game.
I can imagine Ray being a secret agent contacting HQ going “Wait, you wanted me to WEAR the disguise? I thought just having it with me would be good enough.”
This game brings back soo much nostalgia. As much as I liked Golden Eye, as Ray said, Perfect Dark took everything Golden Eye did good and made it better. I loved the story, especially with all the twists and whatnot closer to the end. The weapons were fun as hell and loved all the different alt-fire modes. My favorite was just filling a lobby with Random Bots and going against them. You'd get some that were stupid and some that were damn near cheating but it made it feel like playing with real people (I didn't have friends to game with then :( ) but I would spend hours going against all sorts of different Bot configurations.
@Miles Doyle Zamn man you must really love Perfect Dark if you're quoting the Bible, though I would lay off the scriptures there are some Christians out there that are Crazies. Keep trying to convert people to their religion and will attack people who say otherwise, Crazy zealotry. It's people like them that drive Religious wars, like in the Middle East.
*I finish it a couple of days ago for the first time and to be honest it is much, much better and far more entertaining than the last Decade of CoD Games*
With the ambush with the bodyguards at the end of Extraction, you can hit the lightswitch on the right side of the room when the lights go out to stun everybody in the room because they all have night vision too!
TIP For your next run: Skedar take headshot damage if you target the snake-like protrusion from the back of their head. That's the actual alien, the rest of what you see is an exosuit. Their apparent 'head' doesn't take any extra damage it's as if you're shooting a human enemy in the chest.
"A hatch opened but I don't know where"...proceeds to run around like a caffeine addled child without looking carefully....same thing in every game Always entertaining.
3:22:36 It's always makes me happy to hear people bring up Soulcalibur. As a competitive SC player can confirm, the competitive scene for SC6 is still goin'. But the series does have a history of getting a massive casual player base that just kinda drifts off cuz they just really get into the character creator aspect for the most part and mash buttons with friends, they don't get into or understand the actual mechanics due to it being a FG and a very complex one at that, so it takes a lot of learning. So people get the mind set that it's dead when it very much isn't, much like a lot of FGs. People (myself included) still jam SC2. (FG's never die) FGs will always be niche due to the fact you can't just jump in at them and immediately understand how it works like an FPS. And honestly I think that's a good thing. sry bout the essay, I just love my fighting games. :)
i still have my 64 and this game along with 007 golden eye. they were the best back in the day. i don't know how to emulate so i can't get it for my pc. would be cool though with a modern controller and play multi player. the mian war mission took me forever on perfect agent. think like 2 years it took me because was just so hard.
they are making mr. carington a bad guy in the reboot when it comes out. crazy twist but that is what they have in mind. i just hope it has all these old weapons they have from the first game.
@@GabePuratekuta also it’s not Rare making it. It’s a new company called The Institute (at least I think that was the name) made up of former Rare devs most of which worked on both Goldeneye and the original Perfect Dark.

I wonder if he ever played coop on this game with the unnamed blond woman (I think) that takes the negotiator spot or other 2ed spots. Also holding A to give orders to AI in Combat mode was always fun. I still have my Pikachu N64 and my copy of Perfect Dark.
Okay, I know this would probably not do great in reviews, but I really kind of hope that the new Perfect Dark game is a retelling of this story, while really building up this control system and not changing the shit out of it. Not making it a Call of Duty clone with Daniel Craig's face in it, changing up all the cool shit in the story, I mean, just literally.... polishing the fuck out of THIS story. And taking THIS formula as far as it can go. There's a couple of things from Zero that I could even see working their way in. Like having optional objectives that you don't know about when you start the mission, because shit happens, shit changes in the middle, like, Oh, shit, they've got hostages and that wasn't in the briefing. etc.
I Loved this Game Fun Fact Before Starting Every Mission I'd Scroll over and look at the Different Briefings Of Each Objective It's Just fascinating to me
Seeing how horrible the original graphics are makes me appreciate how much more beautiful the remaster looks. Also Johanna looks much sexier in the remaster!

The fact that there is an animation for pulling the trigger still blows my mind to this day. So happy you played this!

It's incredible how well this game holds up even to shooters in 2021.
To bad the controls are absolute ass! The manual aiming system sucks balls
Just play it on pc. For the control and the better framerate

Don’t mind me, I’m just going to cheat off this when I finally get to it in Rare Replay.

Damn the menu font is the exact one they ended up using for timesplitters
Damn, just realised how much that level with the trench coat feels like NeoTokyo from TS2 too lol
It's like the GE/PD devs went to make TimeSplitters or something. ;P
I saw the thumbnail, and thought it said "Perfect Dank". How appropriate for this channel.
I do like seeing Ray play these old games. So nostalgic.
the sniper in the villa shower isnt a hidden gun. its from one of the snipers and has clipped threw the roof

So is the Perfect Dark reveal from the Game Awards a remake or a sequel?
Sequel
@@termentir7257 Microsoft is finally letting them make it!?

TUROK 2 Seeds of Evil. You should do that one sometime.
Didn’t he play it when they got remastered for Xbox? Or was that just the first game.
@@termentir7257 He only played the first one on stream.
Rare was the best back in the day.
Are you saying Perfect Dark Zero would've been better on the Gamecube?
Ray is this a totally legit copy? ;)
Perfect Dark is a game I wish so badly that I’d played when it came out. It looks great, but I imagine it feels insanely dated nowadays.
Not as much as you'd think, especially if you play the XB360 remaster of it.
Only aiming feels weird, everything else is amazing. It actually plays better then Zero does with the awful cover and dodge roll system.
Played it for the first time last year, not really that dated tbh, quite enjoyed it.
