So if I have my $44 inside and the point is 10 and the shooter hits the 10, do I just leave my $44 inside and add the 5 & 9 lays until a new point is established (I'm guessing)? No harm in doing that, right?

Why lay the 5&9 and not the 4&10?
I'd guess that it's less outlay. $30 on the 5/9 gets you $20, while to get $20 on the 4/10 you have to bet $40.

Played a variation on this last night won $400 on $10 table, 2.5hrs on choppy start table. The variation is this, once point is made no matter what, start with $110 inside, when hit regress down to $44 inside. Then do a collect and bump all one unit inside in each consecutive win. Never fully reset. If point hits, leave bets off, but do the same $30lay on 5,9,c,e on every come out.
For a little extra fun, if the c,e hit twice during come out, after point do $5 hard ways. Don't replenish the hards unless they hit. If they hit follow the same collect and bump all hards. If say you have only $5 hard 10 and 8 and one hits. Then you have $5 4 and 6, and a $10 10 and 8.

I *think* this one could be great on the bubble, because with the lay bets and C&E you don’t have to play Pass or DP? and you’re leaning into the likely choppy table that bubble usually is
I have seen bubble craps dice defy the laws of physics.
