Thanks for the youtube video, I was able to repair my wife's laptop thanks to the clear film, a lot of work but worth it. Also thanks on behalf of my Wife.
It's usually me making the videos on here helping people, so make a nice change somebody making one that helped me! My Acer Aspire 6 would pretty much turn itself off after a few seconds, so thought for the sake of £19 I'll buy a keyboard and replace it. Finally working again thanks to this video 😎
Great video, thank you for the effort! I despise laptops that are designed this way now with a keyboard that is not meant to be serviceable. Before I buy now, I actually look up the repair videos first to see if they are still design and I will avoid the laptop. It is a ridiculous amount of labor to change a part that is so often in need of repair because of broken buttons, spilled drinks etc. I miss the days of older IBMs that had spill trays and robust, beefy keyboards that could be popped out of the top of the laptop. I'm not sure if anyone still manufactures them that way anymore.
Choose laptops with the HP, Dell, or Lenovo brand. HP is a pretty simple replacement. The keyboard from Dell is excellent and robust. Lenovo keyboard is also good.
watching this video made me realize that instead of doing it myself it would be best if i take my laptop to a repair shop for it's keyboard replacement.
OMG. Thanks for the great video! This particular repair is not for the faint of heart for sure. And its difficulty is a little bit beyond what I can comfortably do. I am glad I decide to watch this first before deciding to sink money to buy the keyboard, just to learn the repair is this difficult. So, I guess it's selling whatever I have as parts!
I just wanted to replace mine with a backlit keyboard. The current one isn't broken. Maybe I'll find a different light source. Anyway, I suck at soldering big things. I wouldn't try to do a precision solder.
Hello, and nice job ;-) I was curious to know what the name of that pencil you use to pour out the plastic droplets. It is a much faster system than the one I use with PLC, cutting it and melting it with the soldering iron. Greetings!
@@fixstudioTV No.. I mean the pencil you drop the green drop plastic, and, after that, you use the soldering iron when you are placing the new keyboard.
@@fixstudioTV Ah! I thought it dropped the plastic you melted with the soldering iron... So you are melting the existing plastic which was in the chasis. I use PLC instead with the soldering iron, but don't care about which holes to fill... I just fill some of them, in the keyboard and, later, in the protecting shield. Thanks!
Hi , can you tell me what the tool you used to remove the plastic rivet? I have a laptop of the same model and I need to perform this keyboard replacement. Greetings from Brazil.
Sir I need answer ASAP please. Do we need to reinstall the OS after keyboard replacement? In some cases, I see people said that removing ssd from mobo will affect us to reinstall the windows too. Thankyou!
Hi, I have the same notebook. In my case the keyboard has problems only for 5-6 keys. Sometimes all work fine and sometimes this keys have problems. Do I have to change all the keyboard or I can try something else?
Hi I found your channel after searching according to a problem I'm having I have acer Aspire F 15 notebook but he broke the hinges, but I saw that it’s a simple thing to be revolving, just change the metal cover and attach the screen and the front plastic .... I have no experience with that .. would you have a video explaining something about thank you very much hugs
I had the same question. I've seen glue used before but I don't see any substance being applied to fasten the new keyboard here. Love that Dremel...going to get one. Thanks!
Is it possible to replace the single fan with two fans from a model with the same platform? (the Acer Nitro 5 has two fans for an example) Or does this model's motherboard lack a second port for it?
hey, can you do this for the acer aspire a515-43-r19l by any chance, my keyboard needs a replacement as some of the keys aren't functioning properly and there doesn't seem to be a tutorial for my exact computer model I have more details below
I already know how to open the laptop up, I've already replaced the previous fan with help from these yt guides, as the model in the video isn't the same as my acer aspire 5, some of the internals look different, and just worried that I might mess something up.
The keyboard has been changed. Thank you. My cat spilled a large amount of black coffee 💀💀 🐈 , The funny thing all buttons work except power button doesn't work . I went to the stores in my town and i didn't find an original keyboard. I installed a good quality keyboard. and the laptop works without problems , guys who have cats be careful don't put liquids near laptops .
Unfortunately, it is not only Acer, most companies have changed the way to change the keyboard in modern models, you have to disassemble the whole laptop to get to the damaged keyboard, previously it was very easy to change it .
The acer service center recently changed my laptop's keyboard. It is working fine now but not the same like the keyboard which was originally. I have to press some keys twice to register the keys.
Question I have this model laptop and the power button doesn't work anymore. I even removed it to try to make a better connection to make it work and it eventually failed. I took it to a shop and they won't touch it. I know i'm asking an almost impossible question here but could you do your best to give me like a percentage of doing this fixing the issue? Or could it be something completely different? I apologize to ask this because I know you need a lot more information to accurately answer this. But, if you could kindly give me your best estimate I'd greatly appreciate it!
What a horrible process it is to replace this keyboard. It seems you almost have to dissassemble everything to get to the keyboard. I decided to buy another brand of laptop after seeing what is involved.
Worst design ever. It's a big production number just to replace the keyboard. Too many areas for novices to make mistakes and brick the laptop. The old series was better. The whole keyboard just pops off from the top. Very little room for mistakes.
replacing keyboard must be so hard by just watching this... imagine paying the technician to replace the keyboard.. my wallet starts to cry, just wanna get some external keyboard but its too inconvenient
lol and i paid 60 euros and they did a shit job now all my bottons are so low i cant even press them right cuz anytime i want press them i hit the case around....
wtf!!! you have to do all this for a keyboard replacement??? I would never buy such a crappy notebook of Acer. I have toshiba satellite and asus, for toshiba you have to remove only one screw, for asus nothing at all.
Acer came up with a stupid design. Don't purchase these funny laptops. You must disassemble the entire device just to replace the keyboard. Despite these difficulties, I have changed my keyboard four times in the past two years.

You have to look for business-class laptops. They are usually still built in a modular fashion, so all the parts can be easily replaced.
Choose laptops with the HP, Dell, or Lenovo brand. HP is a pretty simple replacement. The keyboard from Dell is excellent and robust. Lenovo keyboard is also good.
Wtf acer? All that work for one keyboard replacement
watching this video made me realize that instead of doing it myself it would be best if i take my laptop to a repair shop for it's keyboard replacement.
Then they can half ass it and leave your laptop as an internal mess and you would know 😈

Will never buy another acer product or recommend one ever again. Actually started doing this 10 year ago.

Is there any rivet gun for this of activity...
Thank you for the tutorial.👍👍
Are you replacing the plastic rivets? or is there still enough present to heat and re-attach plate? thanks!!! great video!!
If you are careful, there will be enough left over for reuse

Aaaa OK, it’s just a regular marker, noting spatial… to mark which pins go through the additional shield and which ones need to be melted directly

hi really thanks for the video. may i know what is that electric tool that you are using remove plastic rivet and where can i buy it ?
It's called a Dremel tool. You can get them branded Dremel or from other manufacturers

Do you need soldering iron or can i hot glue it
Both options are possible. Just be careful, it’s easy to damage the keyboard.

now i can insert RGB now, thx so much
Honest question, would de keyboard be somewhat wobbly? I see the keyboard is attached to the laptop (by some dumb design reason)

is the 11:24 heat soldering the keyboard?
