This is one of my all-time favourite matches of magic. I'm a fan of both players but Gerard just completely out-sideboarded and outplayed BBD in the post-board games. BBD made the cardinal error of not recognising his role in the matchup and tried to make his deck too controlling, which just played into Gerard's hands as the Sultai deck has the more powerful lategame. BBD should have been mulliganning any hand that didn't have a 2-drop on turn 2. He kept his opening 7 on the play in game 4 and didn't have a 2-drop attacker which was poor play IMO (and there's an argument for mulliganning that 6 he had in game 5...no 2-drop and no third land). If he reflected on what his winning formula was games 1 and 2 he would've been favoured to win, particularly as he could see from games 3 and 4 what Gerard's strategy was (take out all the reanimator package and bring in all the controlling cards). As a side note, Gerard bringing in negate ON THE DRAW no less in game 5 is just massive nuts. It shows how much he had gotten into BBD's head...he knew Brian was reducing the attacking capacity of his deck and going slower, and he boarded accordingly. If Brian come out fast with fleecemanes and death dealers, that negate is looking ridiculous! Great game from both competitors, and well done Gerard.
LOL I'm with you! I really think that's the most common mistake, and even cheating accusations, that people are calling on this current Standard (or since Urborg was reprinted)... Anyway, I really agree with you! People usually makes cheating calls, instead of just trying to really see what happened, or even before just try to understand what's wrong or make a normal comment, asking and/or pointing to a situation that could be (or not) a missplay or even cheating! In this case minibluepumpkin just pointed to what he thought that was a missplay (or whatever), without calling anything or accusing anyone! Yes, there was "a heros downfall casted with 1 temple of malady and 2 yavimaya coasts", as he said, but correctly casted cause or Urborg that was on play... Unfortunately most people start making cheating accusations before even write just a comment like this! What can we do? Idiots.... =\
That foil thoughtseize is bar none the most expensive card I have ever seen in a standard deck. The dopeness.

+Ben Guth Back to nature reads destroy all enchantments. Gfab's creatures were both enchantment creatures, whilest fleecemane lion is not.
