I watched Carl, Ryu, and Poo play so much that my husband bought me SMM for 3DS (we don't have a WiiU). It's not the same but it's still fun!

48:44 YES, that was *exactly* my reaction when I got my first pair of glasses when I was 18. Even now, over a decade later, I'll take my glasses off to look at trees just so I can put them back on and appreciate the beauty.

21:42 that troll was secretly genius because the arrows were showing the direction of the bottom of the track, but not the top of the track. Since it’s a loop the bottom has to move left in order for the top to move right

Dude, that first level blew my mind. Also, that one section where you came out of the door and jumped off the Goomba and had to hold up to climb the vine was genius, cuz then you die in that section but now know to hold up, but when you go back into the door, it's a different area where when you hold up, you go into the pipe that takes you to CP 1.

Regarding bad vision: yes, peoples’ vision is overall getting poorer. This is mainly the result of the invention of agriculture. Since we no longer had to hunt, good vision stopped being selected, and poor vision can be corrected through technology.
That first level was one of the best troll levels I've seen in the game yet, in summer 2019
Just watched a dashie video and got a recommendation for this video.... been like 6months since i watched on of carls videos.
Geez the difference between the whacky stages dashie plays and the genius of this stages is hilarious, also is nice to not get screamed at every 5 seconds lol
For the vision stuff, I think that now that we have such easy access to corrective lenses, it's not being selected against anymore, so the genes for bad vision are more likely to show up now compared to back when it would have been a major disadvantage to not have good vision.

Your eyes do indeed sometimes get worse for vision without glasses, but they can also get better because it's just that the shape of the lens of your eyes is actually able to gradually change very slightly over time, but even the slightest change in the lens of your eye can impact your vision. This is also why for some people their old glasses don't actually help them see any more, even if they have prescription glasses because their eyes have an uneven abnormal shape.
At 00:24, Did that door actually work or was it apart of the setup for the twice twice?

I'm slowly getting back into Mario Maker, and I really should go ahead and try these troll levels first, just to have that "A Day In The Carlbox" experience.
Also, as usual, troll levels give me ideas for clever mechanisms. Just for less trolly purposes.

Did you create a new world layout for your romhack? Finding bonus goals and new routes is the best thing in mario games.
I know this is 5 years old, but Carl asked a question that has some really interesting research. "Are there more people with worse vision?" The answer is unemphatically YES. We have seen this development in real time since the 50s as we study nations that changed over time. And it's not necessarily the fact that we're using our eyes longer hours into the night. Night-time strain is definitely a factor, it's no where close to the primary one. The primary factor is developmental, and the encouragement for children to not spend time outdoors during peak light hours during the day. Studies have shown that children who average 1 hour of daily exposure to sunlight during peak lighting hours have something like an 80% reduction in needing correction for their vision.
Recess literally saves your vision, and should probably be longer (some argue two periods of 45 min to 1 hour to give better odds of not coinciding with severe overcast. )

Saw beast play this level, and I wanted to see Carl play it.
I really hope they release a Mario Maker game for the Switch with more options and things to play with. And also add something like the Mario world hint blocks so that people can make glitch levels and just have the mechanics of the glitches explained. That way everyone should be satisfied with how things turn out and they don't have to go out of their way deleting levels that use the glitches creatively to allow for new and fun things. I find it really weird they go through the effort of deleting glitch levels but almost never fixing said glitches and even then they don't get anything out of it besides wasting hours on fixing things that weren't a problem in the first place.

The video was hilarious af. Just like every one of your videos! That cp1 door at the end of the second level was amazing. If you didn't have the clown car, the bumper would have bumped you into there. It was either softlock or cp1.
