My wife and I retired in Ireland 26 years ago. Be move we ever made.we live in the country. Shannon river only 50 metres from our entrance. Yea! Gasoline is expensive. Train station only 7 miles.Shopping town 3 miles away. Nearest traffic light 20 miles. Traffic is light. Roads main roads are excellent, lower rural roads are narrow with bends. Housing is expensive in Dublin an major cities but country life is much cheaper and less stressful or hectic. We arrived from San Antonio, Texas.
If you have a parent or grandparent who was born in Ireland, you can get Irish citizenship. Mrs. Yooper's grandfather was born there, so she's eligible. She's begun the application process. Doesn't hurt to have a Plan B if things here get too bad.
I agree with the opening statement regarding the people and country, but, if you want to pay through the nose for everything, if you need easily acessable healthcare(even with insurance) forget it
Where did you go? am thinking of coming to Ireland, not retired yet, but Australia is too hot and quite boring in the suburbs + so far & expensive to travel to the EU. Got uk citizenship long time ago.
The people are so friendly. I wanted to stay forever 😊

You failed to mention NI.
Places like Rostrevor (Game of Thrones landcape a wee bit like Scotland and a hell of lot cheaper than the RoI !)

I'm Irish and when I retired I moved abroad.
It's no fun on a retirement pension

I believe the investor visa went away in 2023
Or the rock up claim asylum and never leave even if ordered to visa.
Don't.
