Hi hun just wondering what your hair type is. I have 4b/4c hair and im struggling with defining curls for twist out and doing different hair styles other than the high puff. Any suggestions on deep condition regimen?
Lilian Yawson Hey Lilian. I am not 100% certain of my hair type. For twist outs, after you moisturise your hair you can try using a styling product with hold to see if that helps with curl definition. I have a deep conditioning video you can watch so check that out. What do you currently do to deep condition?
Ok I'll check that out. Thanks. I currently deep condition with natural ingredients: 1 egg,Olive oil, black castor oil. Conditioner. Coconut oil.
Lilian Yawson Okay. In general natural hair requires more moisture so I would recommend using moisturising deep conditioning treatments rather than protein-based treatments. If your hair is colour treated, constantly heat styled or damaged then you will require more protein than if it were not. Egg contains protein and so you could run the risk of protein overload if used too frequently (this is evident especially for person's with protein-sensitive hair).
Moisturising products (deep conditioners, leave-in conditioners, moisturisers) will ALWAYS have water (aqua) as the first and main ingredient since water is the number one source of moisture. Coconut oil and Olive oil are great oils which can penetrate the hair shaft because their molecular structure is small enough to get through. They are therefore nourishing to the hair however you still need a water based product for moisture.
My regimen involves weekly deep conditioning with a moisturising deep conditioner and then a protein based deep conditioner (e.g Aphoghee Keratin Two Minute Reconstructor or ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner) when I feel my hair needs bit more protein (no more than once a month or every two months for me).

how long can you wear a hairstyle like this?
shantay690 Hi. it depends on your whether your hair frizzes easily and if you used a product with hold such as a mousse or gel. I don't like sleeping in bobby pins and my hair gets very frizzy so I just keep the style for the day and redo the same style or a different one the next day. Some people may leave a roll tuck and pin updo in for the entire week though. :)
