    Sebby!!! I am so excited to tell you after watching your video comparing the Williams Sonoma card and 4 others, I applied for a WS Visa and got approved!! I love your videos!!! Thankyou

    That was a great summary. In the end, it does not matter. Each card has its own benefits and the only thing any user has to keep in mind is that the Infinite cards have higher merchant fees that are being utilized to fund these benefits.
    So if you would like to support a small business that does not net you any bonus points, it is actually better to use a non-Infinite card to decrease the merchant fees the business has to pay.

      imperium2000 when I don’t like a business I use my Amex lol

    • @imperium2000
      @imperium2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well as Seb mentioned. The Infinite card's fees are actually higher than Amex.

    • @armandol1826

      imperium2000 what is the percentage? I also don’t own an infinite backside I’m still in college. Therefore, I resort to the prg card

    • @imperium2000
      @imperium2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the processor, code and how big the merchant is. Bigger merchants get better rates. An example of basic spread would be Visa 1.5%, Sig 2.5% and Inf 3.5%. Amex(the old system) may be a flat 3%. This is highly variable so this is just an example.

    • @armandol1826
      @armandol1826 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      imperium2000 thanks for the understanding. I also never claimed that Amex was the most. It’s just the one that I have that charges the most

    I appreciate Priority Pass the most so far. Looking forward to testing Global Entry soon. Since I am in the military, TSA Pre check comes standard most of the time.

    Please cover the protections. Some terms are very very confusing in the benefits guide. Like some of them you need to charge the entire fare vs some you just need to charge partial.

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      All of this varies by card. Are you mostly concerned about trip delay / travel protections?

    I have the ritz calton card, I enjoy the benefits and purchase protection. The AF is on the high side but for my spending and the rewards I get it’s totally worth it, while I think lounge access the Amex plat and Citi cards might be slight better the chase card is overall a good card.

    The hotel collection programs aren't always to the advantage of the cardholder - if someone holds status with a particular brand, the loyalty program earn and perks may massively outweigh the discount afforded by the Visa Infinite program.

  • @kalmtraveler
    @kalmtraveler 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Sebby - for the Ritz credits, you can just send Secure Messages from your Chase account. I did that for last year's credits and you just reminded me I need to do it again for this years! Thanks again for the great content!

    Great video, and yes I'd love to see videos covering card specific benefits, and not just between the different tiers of Visa cards. It seems like non-cash/point related benefits of credit card use is often overlooked by many users. Everything from FICO scores, to roadside assistance...from purchase protection to annual spending breakdowns. These are important tools that can save people money over and above the more prominent cash/point return values. I think adding some detail about these benefits to your regular card reviews and comparisons (and/or dedicated benefit videos) could help bring up folks awareness of how we may be "leaving money on the table". Great work, as always.

    It looks like the Ritz card just nixed the $100 airline companion credit as of a week ago 01/15/20. I was about to get the Boundless card with hopes to upgrade to the Ritz in 12 months, I think that application might be on hold now.

    I have a CSR, my first year is coming to an end in about 3 weeks and I'm not planning on renewing but I still have a $300 travel credit to use. Not going anywhere this year but want to use the credit. From what I've seen I can buy $300 in gift cards from an airline and that should qualify, am I correct?

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes. I would make sure the airline you're buying codes as travel (i.e., Alaska doesn't for some reason): www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/1787630-chase-sapphire-reserve-300-annual-travel-credit.html

    Sebby. ... now that the Ritz Carlton is no longer accepting applications, which other card includes the $100 VISA Infinite portal perk?

  • @jamesrhs
    @jamesrhs 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do you need to pay with the card to get the trip delay? Used Amex to get 5x on flights, can I use Ritz card for the insurance?

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on the card. Some require the whole amount to be put on the card, others require just any charge (i.e., taxes and fees). I would double check the benefits guide.

  • @pvangsta
    @pvangsta 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Please go over product protection and especially how does travel reimbursement work as I heard it's a long and tedious process to get the reimbursement for CSR of $500/person

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All protections are long and annoying processes. It's basically a ton of documentation and paperwork filing.

    If I just applied and was approved for the CSP and the Freedom Unlimited, should I wait to apply for the Chase Freedom? In 13 months I will be upgrading to the CSR so should I just wait until then?

    Hey I was wondering that when it comes to the cash back categories, if I spend money on gas on the last day (March 31st) will I get the 5% back or does it only apply when it fully processes through. Like say if I buy gas the last day, but it fully processes on April 1st, will I get 5% back?

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm actually not 100% sure. I would guess it's based off the post date. I would just play it safe and run it earlier if possible.

      Every 4 years (the GE/TSA Precheck also lasts 4 years so it makes sense).

  • @GG-ws2gc

    Video on the PayPal 2% cashback card? It's so underrated and unknown. Citi denied me for their 2% card but Synchrony approved me for a few K with a thin file. Definitely a top card of 2018.

    • @AskSebby
      @AskSebby  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main issue is that you don't have any "outs" -- many people who do cash back eventually realize they want to do travel. With the Citi DC at least you have PC routes.

    Sebby great video a lot of very useful info. Question that I have do you have a video comparing the Hilton honors American Express vs the spg American Express. If not is there a chance you could make one or tell me where I can find the information on which one is better. Or if I should get both thanks for the information.

    You forgot to call out the CNB Crystal. It’s only $400 and you get up to $1000 worth of travel credit!

    • @batman.._
      @batman.._ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But those benefits are far hard to redeem.
      Say, Save $100 on air travel when you use your Crystal Visa Infinite Card to book a qualifying U.S. domestic round-trip coach airline itinerary for 2 to 5 travelers
      This never happens unless you're married or travel with friends.
      Receive a statement credit of up to $550 per account per calendar year with $50,000 yearly spend - for any airline lounge club worldwide.
      This sounds far worse than the PP offering my CSR which by itself at 399 value without any need for minimum spend.

    Hi I’m wondering if I can still use the priority pass even though I did a product change and no longer have the CSR? I downgraded the CSR to another freedom in February. They just sent me and my wife updated priority pass cards that don’t expire till March 2021.

    • @AskSebby

      Income / career stage definitely plays a big role. Another way to think of it...
      a) Would you pay $450 to get $2,000 in travel?
      b) Would you pay $4,500 to get $20,000 in travel?
      c) Would you pay $45,000 to get $200,000 in travel?
      I would do A or B without a question. I can't justify C (or I would need to make sure I'm making money back via TH-cam videos / reselling the travel to others).
