I think your feeling is right. He write this song for movie "the story of wukong (monkey king)." In this movie, wukong not only a insuperable hero but also a tragic character who has lost the one he loved, he had to make havoc in Heaven，he finally put down himself and to accompany Tang Seng going to the west for Buddhist scriptures. So Hua write this song with a combination of sadness and igniting emotions.

But I'm curious about Park Kiyoung, an incredible singer from S.Korea. She is 40, I think, don't know much about her besides her being a friend of Sohyang who is ok. I've only just found her on another reactor's channel, but her singing of Spring Rain rips me up. I've heard a few more songs, but what one commenter said, was that she is not appreciated in her own country. Been looking for a female artist to listen to, but having no luck until possibly Park Kiyoung. And trying to hear more reactions of her. Trust you. Hua Hua is unconventional, unpredictable, and has no genre. Every performance is different- you think that you have him pegged for a specific style and he does something totally different; he sings what he wants to do. He is not for everyone; there are some songs that I personally do not like (eg Bullfighting). But nobody can doubt that he is a genius who does it all. He is the most creative singer I have ever seen.

At the beginning of the story, he called himself ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’ leading a group of monkeys located in Flower and Fruit Mountain and dared to challenge the authority of Jade emperor of heaven. Then he got defeated and trapped under Five-Finger Mountain transforming from fingers of Buddha. After 500 years, Tang Monk of Tang Dynasty came to save him, so Monkey King and other 2 guys helped Tang Monk fight against evil forces , seek truth and finally obtained the Buddhist scriptures. It was a really moving and inspiring story.

The Monkey King lost and was pinned down under Buddha's "Five Finger Mountain" for 500 years. This song reflects Monkey King's emotions during the early decades of the 500 years. Angry, rebellious (the rap), but at times reflective (the ballad).
