    Quick mega tip for anyone playing Malthael: you can hold Q.

    I rly enjoyed this video. As someone who plays solo-laners a lot, much of the advice applied to my games. Also, I might have to learn Malthael after watching this. RealBigDill made him look very impactful and fun to play.

      Gotta be aware that if the enemy team hadn't thrown with Seven Sided, there is a chance all of his Rites would have been Palmed.

    You talking about the blessed shield/light bomb combo reminds me of a game i had with a random murky player. i was fenix with big boy laser, and the murky would ping me a split second before he would octo grab someone in the solo lane. the whole game was octo grab into fenix laser off cool down and they enemy team was constantly 4v5'd.

    Also, if I understand what is being said at 14:45 correctly, this is wrong. Every individual instance of damage in the game is modified (by armor and spell power and such) _at the moment that it's dealt,_ as of one unifying patch in 2018 or 2017 or something. So if you're saying that the first 2 seconds of Nazeebo poison won't get reduced by popping Shroud of Wisdom as soon as the toads hit, that's correct; but, if you're saying _none_ of the poison will get reduced, that's incorrect. Every tick that occurs WHILE the spell armor is active will get reduced. And since Toads poison lasts for 6 seconds, that means that you'd negate a third of the damage total. Which is significantly less than half, but still nice.

      Yea you're right. I've often used spell armor to counter guldan's E or mal ganis's life swap. There's some weird interaction with protected iirc where you can prevent DoT entirely

    • @Xanthanarium
      @Xanthanarium 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jupitermonkey5687 Well, Protected should prevent each tick of poison damage that occurs while it's active. Full Invulnerability will remove poison instantaneously, but if any Protected effects are doing something similar, it'll be a bug, or at least inconsistent. I haven't ever seen that, but I'd be interested if you have.

      @@Xanthanarium Sorry that I can't provide a more concrete example because I haven't tested it. But I recall instances where I was playing against genji/alarak players and spells that cause DoT didn't trigger on them if the spell connected while they were protected.

    9:50 To be fair, if your W re-ups your trait by at least 2 seconds (and you couldn't aa the target to re-up it), it is more net damage-per-mana than a Q.

    I would highly disagree that taking Massacre is required of a W build. I take Cold Hand all the time for the constant slow which heavily disrupts teams when I jump and pop Tormented Souls since I don't need the W applying my passive. Sure it's not using the level 16 percentage health damage for the whole team so it's situational. Although it's been so long since I've taken Massacre I can't remember if it uses the level 16 talent or not.

    • @onkelpappkov2666
      @onkelpappkov2666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the difference between W16 dealing 8% HP damage or potentially 5*8% HP damage with W7. Not picking W7 with W build is almost crazy. AoE percent damage is better than single target percent damage.

  • @raymondtyler88
    @raymondtyler88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Whats the w build? Harvest and tormented souls?

    • @onkelpappkov2666
      @onkelpappkov2666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      W7 and W16. Sometimes with W1 against kitier heroes. Potentially with Tormented Souls for the double whammy W reset but that's optional.
      Core idea: Mark an enemy in a teamfight, go in hard, getting 8% on all nearby heroes per W, stay alive for 5s, repeat. Highest potential hero damage. If TS, pop it after W and W again.

    What rank is this? I've been told if you are not already a GM you shouldn't be playing on Maltheal for climbing (I personally disagree) but I'm at that rank where no one will agree with me even if I'm proven right xD

    • @zwartepeat3552
      @zwartepeat3552 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't play ranked only qm so I imagine the draft makes it pretty different (you can anticipate what to pick) but after trying a good share of heroes malthael il really not the best hero except of you are against 2 front lines with high health and a lower DMG output (then malthael is an excellent pick)

    • @jsands5555
      @jsands5555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sounds like bs. Maltheal is great and versatile, you mainly have to work on moving around a fight to not get focused. great macro, huge damage, lots of mobility and self sustain. The last buff he got makes him feel almost unfair to play into so i think he's great and i always do well with him.

      RealBigDill is around gold/low plat, I believe. My team played his in a small tournament 2 months ago, and that was roughly what his rank was at the time.

    • @jupitermonkey5687
      @jupitermonkey5687 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can definitely do it with malth, especially because he can double soak and team fight effectively when not properly focused. With those two advantages you can really exploit gold and low platinum players. I know because I did that the first time I got to plat lol
      Edit: Also NotParadox literally has a video of heroes of recommended to rank up and malth is in that list lol

    • @jupitermonkey5687
      @jupitermonkey5687 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zwartepeat3552 you can't compare qm and ranked. they're very different experiences. A proper team composition with people aware of their roles changes the game dynamic entirely. A similar argument can be made with ranked with comms and without comms; but in any case, malthael is a hero that can exploit the enemy team's inability to keep up with his soaking potential and can later scale to a strong team fighter. But on qm he often isn't given the opportunity to play to his strengths because your team doesn't understand how rotation and map control works. For example it's pointless to have a hero like malth that can cover two lanes of soak if you're not going to have the remaining 4 heroes focus on that last 3rd lane and take all the camps.
