    I appreciate your knowledge sharing, but during the period of policy taking, there has not been any diagnosis of pre existing diseases or hospitalizations, but there may be slow growing illnesses, hypertension, blood pressure, etc. As when we applied for the policy, we didn't get a health checkup before we were issued, so we didn't know how our health was at that time, but after two years some of them were discovered through annual health checks, so will the policy be rejected?

    Ma'am but IRDAI defined the term PED for insurance companies in its circular in 2020. It covers any existing disease, condition, ailment, illness, surgery, etc within 48 months prior to policy issuing date. All the insurance companies has to adhere to this or discontinue their policy if failed to do so. So, Why do we need to disclose any condition which is present earlier than that. Please clarify.

      Good question

    • @autofill5073
      @autofill5073 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My answer will be long but please read it to get clarification:
      So , when you buy a policy the premium that you will pay depends upon several factors one of them is pre existing diseases (PED) , if you don’t disclose your PED to the insurance company the company thinks you are healthy and issues the policy at lower premiums
      But if you disclose you have some PED then company charges you a slightly higher premium but promise to cover the expense of your PED post waiting period
      For example:
      You have thyroid/ had thyroid before now while getting the policy you didn’t disclose this PED to the insurance company and company though you are healthy so they charged you less premium later after some years your thyroid condition got worse and you had to do surgery for it
      So as per policy you deserve to get claim but since to save premium you didn’t disclose this condition to the company before this will be considered as cheating and the company will deny your claim plus cancel your policy aswell
      I hope I answered your question 😊

      I know what is PED and how it works. I am confused about its duration. Why should we declare a medical condition which was diagonised 20 years before taking any policy as IRDAI just asks for 48 months or 4 yrs prior to taking any policy?

    What if someone has already hidden his pre existing disease in policy and its 3-4 years running?
    Someone did not disclose PED as he was guided that PED will be taken care of automatically after the waiting period so its not important to disclose.
    What should one do now to disclose his PED to insurer???
    PED was detected 6 years ago and policy was taken 3 years ago.
    Wont his policy be terminated?
    Or will company reconsider it ?

    I have a genuine query, ma'am. What would happen if, while purchasing health insurance, I didn't know about a health condition like diabetes or thyroid, but after 3-4 months, during a blood test, I found out that I have one of these? What could be done in such cases, or what would happen in such cases?

    • @anshul5431
      @anshul5431 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nothing will happen as it was diagonised after policy issuing date. The health insurance is a contract between the insurer and insured of any health condition prior to the policy issuing date.Keep your test reports and doctor's consultation paper safely as it would help you to substantiate the same in future if the need arises.

      Nothing needs to be done here, ut will not be counted as PED.
      It is always recommended to have a medical file wherein you keep all your medical tests reports / doctor consultations and it should be kept along with your health insurance policy so that at the time of claims there is no hassle.
      If in future, any claim arises, they will ask for first consultation paper for Bp or Diabetes or thyroid, you can share the document.

    If we have ped but after taking policy then we go to a fresh doctor and get diagnosed for that already ped and present it as a newly recognised disease to the insurance company then claim won’t be rejected right ?

    • @rudrachatterjee2614
      @rudrachatterjee2614 ปีที่แล้ว

      Say you have PED and taking medications for 5 years for eg diabetes. You decide to take a policy and not disclose. Then you goto a fresh doctor and he puts it as newly diagnosed disease. All is well until here.
      5 years later you are hospitalised. Doctor asks if you have diabetes and take medication. You say you do. Doctor asks for how long you are taking it/suffering from Diabetes. Now its all on you. Will you say 5 years (based on fresh diagnosis) or 10 years (based on original diagnosis)?
      Before you say 5 years let me tell you that when you are a diabetic or suffering from any chronic illness all further treatments for any other diseases happen keeping the chronic illness in mind as well as the duration of the illness. Line of treatment for a diabetic of 5 years can be very different for a diabetic of 10 years. And the outcome can be different as well. If in front of the doctor you say 10 years claim will be rejected for sure. But if you say 5 years you are risking how the doctor will treat you.
      So are you willing to risk your life/treatment by being dishonest or being honest and disclosing all PEDs correctly. Choice is yours.

      @@rudrachatterjee2614doctor doesn't treat the patient as per the patient's wordings. He treats them as per the test reports.
      There are lots of patients who must be diabetic for years but don't get to know, if they get to know after 2-3 years or even more, they will be considered as newly diagnosed only so that won't mean that doctor will ignore their previous damage, if any.
      Secondly even if u have long term diabetes you can reverse it with good diet and exercise and make your body less vulnerable to sickness.
      So doctors rely on your test reports and not on your mouth say, u can even tell them that u might be having the diabetes for long but u weren't sure and now u got it detected. There are several ways to deal.

    • @rudrachatterjee2614
      @rudrachatterjee2614 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AR-82 the topic was if you can bypass the disclosures while buying a health insurance. For the insurers, your word of mouth matters when processing a claim, because Doctor in his prescription writes down whatever the patient says under medical history.
      Even if diabetes is in remission insurance companies specifically ask in the proposal form 'Have you ever SUFFERED/SUFFERING from diabetes/prediabetes?'. So in my opinion its important to disclose everything so that at the time of claim there is no hassle.

    Ma'am , medical history batane ke baad bhi policy reject kiya jara hai hdfc ergo se
    Past history batane ke baad bhi jaha meri sister feb ko due to entric fever admit hui thi aj hdfc ne widal test report mangwaya now widal test individual report accuracy nahi bata ta ki typhoid hai ya nahi supporting CBC ya IGG or IGM report ensure karta hai ki infection agar widal test me aa bhi raha hai toh wo recovery antibodies hai ya recent infection. Undertaking team ne straight away reject kar diya on the basis of widal report jab ki meri sister fit and fine hai family doct ne IGG & IGM test se ye confirm bhi kiya ki test negative hai jiska matlab recent koi infection nahi hai usse...along with widal test. And meri sister normal hai achi khasi health hai college jari hai ari hai aisa koi ek bhi symptoms nahi jo worry karne ki zarurat ho.
    Ye kaisa undertaking team ka kaam hai ki ek inaccurate test ke basis pe reject kar rahe hai. Since widal test me jo bhi antibodies ata hai wo life long tak reh sakta hai toh every time apply karne pe wahi reason se reject karenge toh kya fayda hai past history batane ka... Ye koi long growing illness hai nahi.
    Can you help me with this??
