As someone who has finished this game countless times in my from 10 year old me until 18 year old me, watching Eden play this and suffer a lot just brings me joy knowing that I am not the only one who still sucks at this game even today.

Could only play that game when I was visiting my grandparents since my grandpa had it installed on his Windows XP PC. I spent entire holidays trying to beat a couple races. I beat it eventually but it wasn't easy. Peace of cake nowadays when I do my annual replay.

my favorite racing game of all time. man i put TIME into this game as a kid. even the menu alone gives me nostalgia. I can quote so many characters to the T as well lol. this game began my love for cars. Oh yea and the first champ looks exactly like my dad, forgot about that lmao.

Its an insane mod with completly new story races, map rework, new carmodels, new songs, and insane difficulty
And the voice lines of the npc pedestrins after being hit were comedy gold, 😂 everytime i hit a npc pedestrain id always be on the floor laughing, when i was younger, tbh i even hit the pedestrians on purpose just to kind easy the pain of the ridiculous difficulty 😅
a couple of fun facts for the midnight club series:
- *technically* it wasn’t the first by rockstar, midtown madness would be but nuh uh
- midnight club 3 is beatable with just choppers, since you get nos, sport bike *speed* and the roar ability
- mcla’s launch version was widely considered as hard as midnight club 2
- howhardcanitbe (0-9) changes the difficulty, it’s also noted at the bottom of the mode select when you beat the game for the first time
- there’s a song in midnight club 1 that was slightly revamped in midnight club 3 by the producer themselves
- midnight club 3 has a loading screen song that is near lost media (D Block - I Dare You). the full song has yet to be found despite it existing
- every game features a fedex truck
- thomas bangalter (1/2 of Daft Punk) makes several appearances in midnight club 2’s ost.
- the artist for the theme song of midnight club 2 (Blu Warta - Midnight Club 2) passed away shortly after the release of the game from heart failure. moment of silence
- one of the posters for mc2 features a red jersey xl that is a 1:1 remake of the dodge viper ad that was released that same year
- phil is by far the most annoying racer in the franchise due to how the upgrade system and tier system works in mc3
- the CPU riders in mc3 are the developers of the game
bonus fun fact regarding myself: i’ve played and beaten every single midnight club game on every platform except mc3 on the original xbox

In the Savo Paris race a better route is to go for the upper right corner checkpoint first and then do the rest counterclockwise. That way the last checkpoint will have a pretty straight forward line back to the finish line.

I remember playing this as a kid, and I wasn't bad at it! Beat the entirety of Paris and some of Tokyo with just the Jersey XS from LA.

i played the game on the ps2 back in the day it wasnt hard to be honest sure it had its hard moments but not to bad went back today and it was still easy so i modded the game and made it harder and its fun again
I have played so many damn racing games both at arcades and at home (I am lucky enough to have a pretty stacked arcade relatively close by - Wangan Midnight? R Tuned Ultimate Street Racing? SCUD Race? You got 'em.) and while I don't think this is the absolute HARDEST racing game I've ever played, it is the hardest one with a set beginning/middle/end. There are some games that I think are harder overall like Richard Burns Rally which don't really have an ending or a few arcade cabinet games where you really only have a 5 minute or so game, but in terms of just a console "beat the game" racer, this is the hardest of all time. I would even put this above F-Zero GX which is probably second place in that category.
The twins were sexy, but Haley was a straight up BADDIE.
*I know I don’t you look here often, but you definitely should take a look at Fast&Furious on the ps2. It was the tie in game for Tokyo Drift and it’s truly a weirdly good yet awful game.*

MCII is so fun. I fucking HATE that nobody has the balls to make street racing games with actual TRAFFIC anymore, dodging traffic is part of the fun of driving fast.
This game is one of the biggest racing game gems for me.

Bro I'm so glad you've finally done MC2. This was by far the underdog and unsung hero of the series in my opinion. Captured a true sense of speed in this game and I only wish the career was a little longer
The career supposed to be longer, the rivals have a lot of unused dialogues sounds, especially Diego which appears only 1 time.

One tiny fun fact!: In the rain, traffic cars actually have a small chance of randomly initiating car crashes. You can especially see this on highways. This is different from the scripted traffic crashes during races, as they can happen anytime, anywhere, solely because it's raining
I also noticed that the police will sometimes chase traffic cars too.

Kenichi actually looks cool and somewhat familiar as well, ngl. Like, I've seen that kind of face somewhere before. Maybe it's one of those famous Japanese movie actors, Yakuza character or something🤔 If only they didn't give him such an overtly stereotypical VA, I think he would've been received better.

Fun fact: you can swerve right and left while hitting the handbrake to drive at a constant 400km/h with the Emu, Schneller V8 and the Lusso XT. Allowing you to completely break the game's difficulty.

36:00 That Paris race is actually called Stage III - Burn. I think that name was intentional as you just burn up in anger from all the attempts, and you feel burned out when you finally win, no other race in this game compares. But if you play the Decade Edition mod of this...about 90% of the races made for it are on Burn's level of deviousness.
Fun fact: You can (for whatever reason) make the game harder!! There's a cheat called "howhardcanitbe" and you put the final digit as a singular number ranging between 0 and 9. Zero being baby first's street race and 9 being "THE MORE YOU FUCK AROUND, THE MORE YOU'RE GONNA FIND OUT"
I believe the game's base difficulty setting is 4 or 5.
It took me more than 20 tries to beat the first race but it's not that bad after

When im done with Elden Ring ill unlock all and race Savo at Lvl 9 difficulty just to see how rough it is cause i have speedran the game a lot since 2021

There's a vibe in Midnight Club 2 that no other racing game has (other than maybe NFS Underground 1) with it's menu, characters and soundtrack (especially the soundtrack). Out of all the racing game plots out there, I think Midnight Club 2's plot is the one that could be perfectly adapted to a movie or a TV show like imagine if the studio behind Hot Wheels AcceleRacers made an animated series using Midnight Club 2's story, complete with the voice actors and soundtrack from the game. The main character could even be modelled after Vert Wheeler from AcceleRacers and even be voiced by his actor and it would still fit with the story.
I agree, Midnight Club 2 its one of the racing games with best art direction and visual identity. I learn at some TH-cam video about Gina voice actor death years ago, if are true, i don't know.

Midnight club 2 has a night life vibe to it . Mixed with how I would think actual real life fast and furious would be. i think this game and the los Angeles map caused me to love midnight setting and dusk/dawn setting

@@CyanRooper I don't recall Kurt's Killer Ride being that difficult but there were some fucking idiotic examples of rubber band in the endurance races of UG1. I beat the whole game on Hard except for maybe 3 events because the CBT from the rubber band was just too fucking ridiculous

If you live at some european country, i believe you can find some Trance raves that have similar songs from Midnight Club 2.
You have to go to an underground club for this kind of music. This game's acid techno comes from a very underground music scene, and it makes me wonder what kind of connections the sound design team had to find these songs. At the time they weren't something you could just stumble upon.

These days I normally playthrough the game on bikes; bikes are WAYY easier to operate if you turn that stupid action camera off in the options menu. I hate it lol. Your new editor rocks! not to brag (totally bragging), but I've completed this game on howhardcanitbe9 difficulty without using nitros (greatest accomplishment in my life, for better or for worse)
I think saying that MC3 is a bit lacking compared to 2 is a little bit too far cause MC3 is a different game.
Midnight Club 3 will always be my favorite MC but Midnight Club 2 is just as good where it has it's own personality and charm to it.
