For you guys who are wondering how Alex broke the river line so fast it is because James (the creator of the Spot Mod) did a big debuff to the defense you get from a river. I was explaining that to Tommy the day after this game. It actually is a pretty good change in terms of gameplay and makes this more historical. So instead of Russia sitting behind the river the Germany v Russia war becomes a micro battle between tanks which is much more fun and skill based. And in terms of being historical it makes sense since Russia was not able to just sit behind the river and use it to hold Germany back like happens in most vanilla HOI4 games.
Mercb3ast great comment. To expand on your point, people don’t seem to realize tank combat wasn’t that common on the eastern front after the initial onslaught. Mainly because germany just didn’t have enough tanks. I remember the total amount of german tanks being combat operational on the eastern front was something like 300 at one point (In late 1942, but again i may not remember correctly).
@Mercb3ast I said it is more historical in the mod because it is NOT about focusing on the river defense like default hoi4 is.

@@amogusenjoyer dont forget the fact that German tanks at the time really couldnt touch the T34 or KV1. They had to repurpose artillery to hurt them before the Pz4 with a long barrel made it to the front.
you cant judge the effect of tank unit by number, since their purpose is penetration of line, which mean you don't need spread tanks on front line, once tank unit which is relativly small part of army pass the lime, then it show how effective it is even small part of army. infantry can't do it.
