  • If you are planning your cut flower garden for 2022, these are the flowers you need to add to your flower farm. All of these picks are long-lasting, versatile, and make your bouquets look better-but I'll warn you: They're not the typical hero flowers you see on other lists like these.
    I'd love to know in the comments, do you agree with my choices? Or is there another flower you feel deserves to be on this list.

    I even planning to plant more yellow flowers for next year 😊

    Hahaha! The highlighter yellow struggle is real - I bought some late snapdragon seedlings this year, and of course highlighter yellow is the one that has grown really well!

      They always seem to grow the best. The only reason I like them is they're a bit of a decoy for the thrips.

    Maybe try the intense blue bachelor buttons and than intense orange cosmo with highlighter yellow flowers- otherwise I see where your coming from! Happy growing!

    I disagree about yellow flowers) In combinations with blue or brown they look good, but whole yellow bouquet is the best. I dont like warm yellow (like rudbekia) or simple orange (like tagetes) but even those may look good :)

    I love how statice and strawflowers preserve their colors so you can have colorful bouquets in autumn or winter, they make nice bohemian style bunches:)))

    Great list. Highlighter yellow describes that color perfectly.

    I enjoy your channel and am in zone 5b. One of my favorite bouquet color combinations are highlighter yellow, purple and white. There is a place for them.

    Two years ago I grew a snapdragon mix. One color was yellow - "highlighter" yellow. I knew I would never grow that one again!

    Yellow ones are one of the best flowers for sale here in Poland. Go very well with most colors. Maybe you can't sell it in your area and it's not for the color of the variety.

      Who knows? And maybe I’ll find next year that yellow is suddenly really popular.

    Me sitting here wondering why that beautiful yellow color is supposed to be avoided? That’s what my clients in suburban Los Angeles in Orange County California flock to this time of year (spring) I also think it really just depends on the person.

    Great top 8, and I am SO with you on the yellow. I also think that gomphrena is a pretty versatile and holds colour well.

      True! I’m growing different colours this year though, that hot purple wasn’t my favourite in bouquets.

    Thank you for list 8 favs. I haven't had good luck with snaps. I think I started them too late and by the time I planted out, it was too hot here. Strawflowers and Queen series zinnias -LOVE! I grow mainly for myself and family; love sharing bouquets. I'm not very good at making bouquets, but I'm getting there.

    It would be helpful if you showed the flowers you are growing in a bit more detail and slower. It's mostly views of you and I want to see what the flowers look like alone and with other flowers. Thank you!

    Does an amaranth plant keep producing throughout the growing season? Or is it a one and done type plant?

    • @ShiftingRoots
      @ShiftingRoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will keep producing. I also highly recommend growing them closer together than suggested and pinching them for more useful stems.

    I have some dried strawflowers from the market, can I still save seeds from them?

    • @ShiftingRoots
      @ShiftingRoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the strawflowers have to kind of explode for lack of a better term. Then the seeds are ripe.
