Who else was like oooooh its (enter name here) and then WTF THATS ME im from castlebar and still live there and I also go to the one of the secondary schools and I went to one of the local primary school but I live kinda outside it in the country areas and my family mostly lives here and my dad is well known cause he lived there his entire life its fun to see the best town ever
Shocked at some of the comments below- obviously an embittered Covey or someone with a serious axe to grind. I grew up in the town and it was a great place to spend one's formative years- very little crime, neighbours knew each other, loads of green space around, town was growing. It's had some setbacks in recent years, being hit very hard by the recession and having some undesirables moving in. But the majority of people there are great people: Castlebar just needs some investment and the return of industry to get the place back on its feet. Taoiseach Enda has failed miserably in that regard, it would have to be said.
Are you sure this is in 2012? My cousin has a sales office on New Antrim Street and this video doesn't show it. It's past the Welcome Inn near Linen Hall Street. I was there back in May 2013 and his sales office was there then and also in 2010. Also I was disappointed that the video didn't include Holy Rosary Church on Castle Street. I'll be attending a wedding there in Aug 2014. Why wasn't the War Memorial Park by the Harlequin Hotel noted? I see it's called the Days Inn when this video was taken. It was named the Harlequin in 2013.

I need to correct that the Harlequin Hotel's name was changed from Days Inn in 2010 not 2013. We were there in June 2010 and the name had just been changed So this video while gives a good overview of Castlebar, it is from 2010 or earlier.
some people say mayo is the oldest town in SOUTHERN ireland, about 5,000 years old!! but what is the oldest town in ALL-IRELAND? would it be coleraine in county derry? some people say it might be in county kerry. PERHAPS SOOMEONE CAN ADVISE ME FOR WHICH I THANK YOU.

He calls the Mall the square (since when?). He also refers to Christchurch as the Presbyterian church, when it is actually a Church of Ireland (Anglican). Stopped watching at that stage 2.07 seconds in and he already had made two mistakes.
4.20 mk1 golf 5.34 was in that McDonalds in 2007 and the guy standing in from of me spent 4 years handcuffed to a radiator in berut better known as the beirut hostages !

Castlebar is a nice market town, something we have lost in America with our sprawling, characterless suburbs, malls, and big box stores.
