I've spent the past decade or so obsessing over this game. I own the game complete in box, all of the comics, and the anime series. I do basically agree with everything you're saying though lol

There's actually four different endings. One where he actually makes it to Hawaii, one where he winds up going back home (or something, he winds up doing the hula dance in a grassy field), one where he winds up in Antarctica, and one where he walks off into the sunset like a Shonen character.

If you just look at it as a joke game, it's not so bad. Silly dialogues, presentation and all that go well together... but this was not yet the time for such parody games. Don't you worry though, trolling in games would definitely return... if not on Famicom, then later. (also, well done switching the themes and using the mirrored thumbnail; fits here quite well :P)

so like takeshi's challenge? also I suppose that would explain the flipped title card and the reverse music order which didn't even click til the ending! IDK I barely got anywhere in takeshi's challenge so I don't know that I'd have the patience to figure this one out either. but I appreciate them trying something a little different from the norm.

Tee hee, you flipped the intro and outro music. I've re-watched enough famidaily episodes that I've heard each theme probably 1500 times, so it definitely freaked me out a little 🙃

This is a game I genuinely like. I like it more than Takeshi's Challenge, which is pretty boring most of the time. If you're going to be hostile to the player, go all out. Show your contempt for the audience by having things actually happen!
I also think that the cover/box art is one of my favorites.
Good job making this review slightly off, just enough to be confusing but not enough to take away from the review.
