It's just nuts that this is 10 years old.
I remember the first time I saw this video in 2013....it was my first ever introduction to Grimes.
And I _immediately_ felt something special from this song...and the video...and just her whole vibe. For one, she was stunning...instantly got a crush, can't lie. But the song itself...is so eerie. It's pure pop ear candy but with this weird melancholia. It's a perfect example of how a song can sum up a mood/feeling that simply cannot be put to words.
Her song Realiti is another PERFECT example of that. Realiti, to me, perfectly encapsulates the mood/feeling/vibe of waking up super early, before the sun is up, while most everyone else is asleep, and just relishing the purity of existence itself...and the mystery of it all...and the existential joy that you're in the middle of it all. Realiti SOUNDS like that feeling.
And Vanessa, again to me, SOUNDS like being in your 20s and navigating relationships, the whole social world, while still coming to terms with who you are as a person, struggling with both the pain and joy of being out in the world on your own.
It honestly bothers me that all anyone talks about anymore is the fact she's dating Elon....and the name of the damn baby.
Who cares? I mean, I GET it...I get why that's "salacious" to the general public. But I miss the time when the focus was solely on her artistry and the fact she was such a game changer for the sound of alternative pop music. Back in 2013 when I first caught wind of her music....it was far and away the most interesting/creative thing I'd come across in years. Still a huge huge fan.
She looks like Winona Ryder as Lydia in Beetlejuice......love it and love her.

The part at 3:12 to 3:18 when Claire is just staring right through to the camera gives me butterflies. I feel like she is looking right at me. It's crazy. Im a huge fan of her music, artistic merit, creativity and originality. I'm a 43 year old male who really isn't in to this type of music but I find her unbelievably refreshing, original, talented and true to her self and to her own vision.
I used to sit in my car before work and listen to this as I gradually accepted my fate. Grimes really helped me through retail hell.

I like to think the symmetry circles are like a glowing expansion of emotion that's like a dark sun whose rays are sharpened. It gets out of control later. I remember first hearing this when I worked in retail back in 2011 and thinking nothing of it, now I’m obsessed with this song. She is truly ahead of her time.
I cannot watch a Grimes video and not be reminded of this girl I briefly dated, prior to her skipping town and never seeing her again. She actually had the courage to walk from Sbucks where she worked, to my work to ask me out and we hooked up a dozen or so times before she took off for Portland and disappeared for good LOL. It was fun while it lasted, but after I discovered Grimes, she always reminded me of that one girl I met in Seattle hehe
