    I was there many times since 2008. I went there to meet my ukrainian family, from the side of my wife. My heart is yellow and light blue! Slava ukraini. 💪🇺🇦💙💛❤️‍🔥

    For your information, it was not the center of Cherkasy, only Zaporozhye

    The Cossacks were divided into Zaporozhye and Don, where did half of the history go?

    Always interesting to learn my history! I have to know, what is your first language?

      Strangely enough the first language I learned to speak was french. My father was an engineer and we moved around Western and Eastern Europe and Lating America quite a bit. My father is Ukrainian, my mother is German and Polish. In the household we spoke this crazy mix of languages but english as mediary. My strongest languages by ranking are Russian, Spanish, English, Ukrainian, German unfortunatley i forgot all my french after we moved when I was 3 and Im still trying to practice and not lose my edge on them but now living in Canada the past 7 years I feel myself naturally slipping in areas. Hope your having a great one Tyler!

    Reason of it being called Cherkasy?

    • @cossackhetman
      @cossackhetman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two theories about the origin of the name cherkasy: (1) that it derived from the town of Cherkasy, in whose vicinity there were many Cossack settlements in the given period; (2) according to some Russian historians, that it derived from the Caucasian Cherkess peoples.
      At the end we are not 100 percent certain.
