This was probably the best I've heard so far from BTS' vocal line. They're voices sound so good together, and the notes that they're able to hit makes me feel all types of ways. It's been an amazing experience so far.

For me, every vocalist not only has a wonderful tone of voice, but also a specific feeling I associate with them. JK's voice is like flying high in the sky, Jimin is like lying under the warm sun or sitting in front of a fireplace, Jin is like someone's pulling your heart out of your chest and Tae is like looking into the deepest corner of your soul.

@@snisa92 FYI, Aoki didn't compose Mic Drop. He only made a remix, add some english verses. In terms of beats/melody, the remix is similar to the original song.
I love how each time you start talking about how well written a song is, it's actually a song written by RM. It's very relatable.
This song represents the boys’ inner struggles and how they’re forced to hide their true selves under a mask in order to pursue their career.
To kick off the Love Yourself era, Jin tweeted a photo of himself with blue flowers and a single word: "Smeraldo" on Aug 8, 2017. This led fans to discover the Smeraldo flower, made up by Bighit that combined it with a tale from the italian folklore:
Once upon a time, in an Italian village called La Città di Smeraldo, there was a man with a grotesque appearance who hid himself in a small secluded castle. He was lonely and his only joy was growing flowers in the garden. He grew to fall in love with a girl who came to his garden to pick flowers. Secretly, he learned that she was poor and sold flowers for a living. However, he could not reveal himself to the girl because he was scared she would hate his hideous appearance. Instead, he decided to make a flower that the girl could sell at an expensive price. After many attempts, he made a flower that never existed before and filled his garden with it. However, the girl never came for the flower...she died before his act of sincerity could reach her.
Therefore, Smeraldo is the symbol of "전하지 못한 진심" which has been translated as "Sincerity that Couldn't be Delivered" or, for the song, "The Truth Untold".
If I'm not mistaken, the story about Smelraldo flower in the blog was created by Big Hit (the flower doesn't exist in real world 😉 ) but the story abt the introvert man does exist in Italian folklore. BH just combined the two elements ~ Smelrado and the story about this introvert man 😊.
Note: Smelrado is the flowers that Jin bought for his Gf in the trailer, in BU, in Fake Love (Jin tried to protect the flowers) and extended into his Epiphany storyline.

Laili Johari yes Smelrado means emerald in Italian and its a fictional flower but it was used before probably It reference to ‘the emerald city of oz’, a sequel to the wizard of oz by American Author L.Frank Baum (I am not sure about it I read it somewhere ). btw u can see it all through the story line, in jin's awake its on the table, in the end of blood sweat and tears when jin is looking at the mirror the reflection of the flowers are the Smelrado flowers and as u mentioned jin bought it for his girl.

Actually, the one I read about (the name of the folklore) doesn't have the word Smelrado in it. This is the first time I heard about 'La Città di smeraldo'. The blog that Big Hit created also didn't mention about this folklore, it's only about the florist and the flower. I read the blog before the story changed.

House of Cards is quit a break up song, One that will bring most to tears. I had a talk with my sister a few months ago about I felt as if BTS were watching my life and then they were writing songs about it . Suga's Interlude is a huge example of Suga writing about my life. Untold truth is inspired one story from italy
The truth untold is based on La Citta di Smeraldo. It's the story of a man who lived in a castle and kept to himself because he thought himself to be ugly. One day a woman came near his castle and picked his flowers. He was angry at first but eventually became curious and waited for her. He found out that she was actually selling those flowers for a living. The man fell in love but didn't want to show himself because he was "too ugly" (you know that I can't show you me, give you me..) So he decided to plant a flower that didn't exist on the planet so she could sell it at an expensive price. Eventually he manage to fill his garden with them but the women stopped coming. He then learned that she had died. That part where they sing 'but I still want you' is about him regretting not telling her his feelings all because he didn't love himself first. It fits so well with the 'Love yourself' concept.
So well-explained! This iss the essence of the song. He can't take off his mask because he thinks he is ugly and in the end lost the girl.

If you didn't know The Truth Untold was another collab they did with Steve Aoki who also did Mic Drop so this was an amazing 180 compared to the hard, in your face song that is Mic Drop.
There's a story behind The Truth Untold so I'll try to give a streamlined explanation:
It's a story about a man in the 1600s, I think Italy, who thought he was so ugly and hideous that all he did was hide out inside the walls of his castle growing flowers in a garden. One night he noticed a young woman sneaking into his garden to steal flowers and it made him angry. He waited again to catch her but fell asleep before she arrived and this continued on for some time. Eventually he noticed that he was looking forward to this nightly ritual and got the courage to go into the village where she lived. At this point he found out she was poor and selling his stolen flowers to try and make a living. He went back to the castle and started working to create a flower like nothing ever seen before so she could sell it for an expensive price and live better than the poverty she was in. Time went by and after many failed attempts he made this flower and grew it all throughout his garden but the woman never returned to pick them. He later found out she had died during the time he was working and the song is full of his shame, loss and regret of what could have been if he had shown himself to her earlier. It's really heartbreaking and the boys have cried more than once singing it on stage.
Just a litlle correction Mic Drop was written by RM, JHope, Supreme Boy and Hitman Bang but remix by Steve Aoki. But yes Steve Aoki produced The truth untold and collaborate in the writing with RM, Slow Rabbit and co

The truth Untold...it is that song...that song made me cry so hard when I heard it for the first time and again when I saw it live at Wembley stadium.
When I think about their song writing the first word that comes to my mind is: authenticity.
They write lyrics about their own experiences...they write from the heart. That's why they managed to connect all their songs and albums because it was a natural progression. They grew as people and that is showing in their content. At the end of the day they are people like us...okay, they have a unique job...but their feelings and what they experience in terms of growing up, internal struggles, doubts etc. is the same as it is for us. That's why they can make you feel that way. They are just trying to say...listen, you are not alone...we are going through the same things.

Namjoon wrote the lyrics himself. Namjoon said that on v live and Jin said it on a Japanese interview thanking Namjoon for his amazing lyrics. They put every single person who has a hand on the track no matter how small or big in the credits. And they also put everyone who wrote melodies not only lyrics.

“Do they know me??” It does feel like they know us and certainly as often as they connect with us online and through their music it would be hard to deny. They understand us and can connect with us individually and globally because they understand and pen the human condition. 💜 also shoutout to Aoki!! He does a great job building tension and suspense with the final climatic burst for the final chorus - really awesome to see him challenge himself in a different genre because we all thought this was gonna be an EDM banger lol 😂
The Truth Untold is the song that got me hooked to BTS and Jimin was my first bias, until RM changed my mind after watching Umbrella and The Problematic Men.

Your feeling is exactly the same as I had at the beginning. The genius of BTS is the fact of successfully overcoming the coherence of the melody with the lyrics and the choreography when there is one, the connection of the songs serving a storyline or a concept that brings you little by little to an existential reflection necessarily enriching and at the same time the ability to allow their listeners to appropriate the song in relation to their experience.
I think that my Army comrades will tell you the story behind "The truth untold" which is magnificent with melancholy and poignant; the flower mentioned in the story inspired part of their storyline .. but you will see later that everything is connected

The lyrical genius that gets to you is Kim Namjoon aka RM. He writes most of the BTS songs and Suga and Jhope also writes their part in the songs. They r lyrical powerhouse , they can make you laugh, cry ,sad , angry and ask question of yourself.

Truth untold was RM! Jimin actually said that he's personally grateful RM wrote the lyrics, because (maybe because they're basically brothers) he actually teared up when he first sung some of the lyrics(he was speaking about the album, but I'm assuming he meant this song) RM has a special talent for getting into the vocal line's heads.
You'll soon be able to tell RM's lyrics apart from Suga's apart from JHope's... They have distinct styles, but they're all poets at heart, no matter how much suga or jhope would tell you otherwise.
Which isn't to say vocal line do not write lyrics! Perhaps not as much, but their solo work and songs here and there have their unique signature as well

DT, The day that The Truth Untold came out I listened to it driving in my car before any translations had been done by our army translators. I had to pull my car over to the side of the road I cried so hard. I didn’t know what the words were, but it hit me on such a deep level and somehow I knew what it was about. When you talked about their lyrics and how great they are, I felt as though you and I were family. I’ve taught literature and poetry for years, and I believe that they, and especially Kim Nam Joon, are among the greatest poets of our time. One warning: they are prolific. All seven are great individual artists with different styles and strengths. Take your time and savor it. These guys are once in a generation or once in a lifetime artists. 💜💫💜

In Map of the Soul: Persona, RM said he wrote almost 90% of the lyrics. If you still heaven't heard, RM is a good poet.
But in their previous album, Suga and JHope participated largely on lyrics writing with RM. They write their own bars for their rap portions also.
The vocal line participate a little in writing lyrics for previous albums, but they are trying to work harder in wriring lyrics for their own songs (not bts songs) which they upload on sound cloud.
All the rappers' mixtapes are written by them, and they also produce and write the beats with the help of in-house big hit producers for the final output.
RM worked with an american sound engineer for his Mono mixtape.
This is what music is all about! To make us feel and help us move on and understand ourselves.

"Singularity" (mv) and "stigma" by V are amazing and soulful. You will definitely want to check them out. Color coded and live. And RM writes a lot of their lyrics. He is awesome.
The Truth Untold is one of my absolute favorite songs by BTS and the live versions of both songs are better, because the vocal line is reflecting the emotions and reactions of their audience and each other to what they're singing. Taehyung/V actually cries nearly every time they sing The Untold Truth. The flower,and the story that this song are based on are both part of the BTS Universe and are, therefore, completely fictional. Despite that, the song is very beautiful, of course, and people can relate to it's lyrics, just as you did. Even without you knowing the "story" behind this song, I could tell from your reaction when Jimin sang the line about "Disappeared, Fallen," that you realized that the girl was gone. It's a very sad story that BTS created and RM's lyrics capture it beautifully.
To me, the fact that they created a background story for the song and went to so much trouble with it that most people don't even realize that BTS created the story, the flower, AND the song, that's just incredible. It all goes back to the theme of "Love Yourself", too. The story's ending might have been very different if the man had had the courage to show himself to the girl and help her directly, as Jin's lyrics speculate. Thank you for reacting.

What has always impressed me about BTS lyric writing is they manage to tell a story that’s relatable to most, but most impressive is they manage to tell stories that are personal to them, while at the same time talk about the BU.
The Truth Untold is one of those, but more like it are all the Wings solos. Those songs are all beautiful, relatable, personal to them and they’re all BU. Each song has so many layers it’s incredible.
RM participated writing the song and lyrics of these songs. FYI, he wanted to be a poet until he fell in love with rapping. He still read a lot of books and appreciate many form of art.;-)

If you want sometimes to cry because of frustration or sadness expurgated while listening BTS, it's normal. Sometimes it's like you want to fight the beat/lyrics/the painful feeling & even darkness then something in the song make you break (a fracture), accept the "wave" & slowly heal. It's how I perceive The Last & first love from Suga, Tear from rap line, the truth untold from vocal line, Fake Love from BTS OT7.
In the end the purpose of their Art is MUSIC & ARTIST FOR HEALING. Their songs have a therapeutic mission at psychoanalysis therapy level. They helped me a lot to keep walking despite so many hindrances. When you turn army "you never walk alone" sounds pretty real.
RM said they want to work with steve aoki again and steve asked to work with vocal line as he said he want to produce song for vocal line. I bet he must be really loving BTS vocal line if he check out BTS discography. Most ARMY shook when TTU came out. We never thought its ballad song by steve aoki. But its very good song. As far as i know, many ARMY really like it including me. The lyrics however, is written by RM and probably with steve as well.
Bighit even make a fake blog for this love yourself era about smeraldo shop. Yes, they are that extra. 😂 Its been said that smeraldo is based on city named smeraldo. And for this song, its based on a man who live alone and a girl always come to his house and steal his flowers. But he came to like her but when he about to confess his feeling, the girl died. 😭
Steve mentioned last year that he actually going to work with BTS again. Probably for this album. Cant wait to listen what kind of song! They work very well together.

The story behind the song "The truth uhtold" actually very deep and talking about self love.
The story talks about a guy who thinks he's ugly so he's hiding in the castle from the world and had a hobby of growing flowers and the flowers made him happy in the beauty.
One night he saw a girl sneaking into the castle and picking his beautiful flowers.
The same guy was angry with the girl but still hadn't left the castle the girl came back overnight and picked the flowers and the same guy found himself falling in love with her.
The guy wanted to tell the same girl his feelings after a long time of thinking and fears about his appearance, he waited for the girl to arrive as every night but she did not arrive.
He waited and waited but the girl did not arrive as always.
He expected to tell about his feelings despite his appearance finally the guy found out that the girl had died of illness and he could not tell her his love for her because he was disgusted by his appearance and did not want to be seen .
From this song they built their album self love .
The lyrics have even deeper meaning than the Smeraldo story. You know BTS are never telling us a story without relating to themselves and us, armys. There's an unpopular theory saying that the man isolated in his castle actually represents BTS themselves and their isolated, sometimes lonely and restricted life as idols. They have to wear a mask when they go see armys bc thats what idols are required to do. They have to maintain their public image, their persona, they have to maintain the illusion. The girl, as you can see represents army. Armys are there every night and day stealing flowers from BTS's garden. The meaning behind this is when armys are using, coping, sharing all of the BTS content on social media as well as their music. At first they were mad at our invasion, our exploitation of their lives, art and personalities for the purpose of comforting, getting better, healing and loving ourselves as well as coping with hardships in our lives. After realising we need them to heal, to feel better, they become willing to share their flowers with us and even loved it and found it inspiring. Remember that RM speech when he said: use me, use BTS to love yourselves. So, we've become each other's inspiration, cure, haven. Of course there's that fear that armys will leave or forget them, there's the lingering fear that something might go wrong in the end...By the time this song was created they were already aware things might get a wrong turn for them and armys. This is basically the sad, heartbreaking untold truth of BTS.

Kim namjoon (RM) is a poet. He's an old soul. His poetry is way beyond what you expect from a 25 year old guy. He's credited for both of these songs. He writes lyrics (some, if not all) for most of their songs.

NAMJOON wrote the truth untold. Members often praise him for his talent for writing beautiful lyrics. He is a rapper but he writes all kinds of songs and you can see his name on almost every single BTS song's credits. He is a great lyricist and he is known with writing beautiful, meaningful and deep songs. Dimple and Fake Love were written by Namjoon as well. He also wrote some members' solo songs on their albums like Jimin's Serendipity and V's Singularity.
Can you imagine how good the lyrics are in their original language? A translation just can't match it, but we still understand the beauty.

i totally agree with you. the songs they've written have the ability to speak with their listeners as if telling them to listen and pay attention cause this is about you or this is what you need today.... their songs could inspire, seduce, hype your mood, put you in a reflective mood, and touch your heart to the point of shedding some tears...
BTS vocal line are really unique.
Jin's vocal is really beautiful and emotionally hitting hard in the feels. Like, a rose covered with honey, sweet but painful. Jimin's vocal is so fragile, I get all frighten and pierced just by listening to him. Like, a single glass being in a dark alone, ready to break. V's vocal is really unique. I've never heard a guy who can sound deep and soft at the same time. It's crazy how he can go high and go rasp as well. Like, a male tiger asleep and being awake, hunting for his pray. His voice gets me crazy sometimes. Jungkook's vocal is so versatile. I can't find a song that his voice wouldn't fit. His voice is just like his nickname, Golden Maknae. It's weird, but his voice somehow reminds me of a superhero lol

RM is the main lyricist(all the rapper's write their own verses....RM just writes for the vocal line members too)...and he really has a way with words....he somehow perfectly captures your feelings into words. A poet. I became a hardcore fan after I listened to Rain...and I remember at RM's verse, when I was mindblown by the lyrics thinking how the hell he managed to put into words what I never could express...his 2 solo albums is a must to check out for everyone.
