How does iShowU Instant (or Studio2) capture application audio? This is an often asked topic. Here I try uncover the "secrets" (ok, a little bit dramatic, it's not really secret).
Using a 'virtual' sound driver. What goes in one end comes out the other; then iShowU will route that sound to your speakers so you can hear here.
Note: iShowU Audio Capture itself is just a virtual driver. Being able to "hear" the audio from it requires more support (which iShowU Instant / Studio2 provide). OBS, for example, does not do this. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I see that you really know a lot about sound so that's why i hear sound from only one channel.

I was looking for a way to record video in stereo and then I find that your video also is only left... very disappointed
I have iShowU, I set my output to come from an aggregate device, I have my QuickTime microphone set to iShowU audio capture, and my screen in Sounds shows that my Mac is picking up audio when I record it using those settings. But when I finish recording and I see the final video on QuickTime, there's no sound playing? Am I doing something wrong? Please help. Thank you
Hi, I just downloaded it for OS Sierra. Sound preferences panel seems to be missing or I don't know where to find it. However, it does appear in apple input output sound preferences. Can you tell me how to find it? Thanks.
I can't work out how to listen to the sound at the same time as recording.. you said not to change the output device in system preferences but I can't see the option to enable ishowu so I can hear audio at the same time as recording can someone help please?!
that's what iShowU Instant / Studio do. Remember that 'iShowU Audio Capture' is *just* the virtual driver part. It's not doing and audio routing.
Hoping you can advise best. I am using m dslr as a webcam via video capture card. The video and audio is streaming through on FB (I checked on a different device). However on the mac I am streaming from I cannot hear the audio coming in from the dslr on the mac built in speakers nor on the headphones out. Is there a work around for this? Appreciate the assistance.
I installed ishowu to connect my serato audio to obs. But after installing I cannot connect it. so to uninstall I deleted all the files but there is one file I can not delete from my mac. Please help me to re install it

Hello! Wondering how to get all channels from audio interface going through ishowu?
Man maybe you can help me, I downloaded iShowU so I can capture my mic audio as well as my playback audio from Ableton Live into my OBS Studio, and everything works great when I create "Multi-Output Audio Device" in my Audio Devices settings combining iShowU with my Apogee Symohony i/O sound module and running my Ableton Live having the output set to that output Device I created in preferences, however, because that output device only shows channels 1-2 it doesn't allow me to capture any other channels that goes out to all my analog gear and I can't seem to figure out what the heck I have to do at this point... Do you have any experience with this?
everytime i run it via ableton i hear some cracks after 30 seconds anybody has a solution?

9_9_destroyer check the ishowu website there’s an extra step to do in the system preferences right after installing it. Go into Security & Privacy > General > System software from developer “Shiny White Box Limited” was blocked from loading.
Click Allow

@@HelloThere-lo3qi I am having this issue too! I have also downloaded IShowU instant the app but I have to pay $30 for the whole thing. I don't know that if I buy it, it will show up in Audio MIDI setup and I dont want to waste my money. Have you found a solution?
Usually in System Preferences, Sound, Output/Input - but there will be little to see as the driver has no output sound controls (volume, etc)

Hey there, so I have HDMI from camera going into my macbook pro with a video capture device. The video and audio stream to facebook great. The only issue when I connect my headphones to the macbook pro I cant hear anything, so I cant monitor the audio. To monitor the audio I connect my headphones to my phone and open up the video stream there. Please can you offer some advise on how to monitor the audio from my macbook pro?

look for an option that says 'mono' .. click that and it SHOULD bring the audio to the center of the 'audio spectrum'

it's built into iShowU Instant. It's not on the mac by default, but part of that app. see shinywhitebox.com (it's also part of SWB Audio App, which is an audio-only product/service that does similar (but more))
IshowU is recording the audio but now I cant hear the audio through my speakers, how do I tell ishowU that I want to hear the audio while recording?

in MIDI controls there is nothing that says "IShowU Audio capture" that i could select

Unsure. I have done very little with OBS. Perhaps ask on OBS forums?
go to settings in obs-hotkeys and set a a key for mute and unmute.

not a good solution (Apple should be responsible to make this easier to record system audio). Anyhow, it doesn't seem like a good solution. And judging from the way your video was recorded in mono, there are clearly issues.
iShowU not showing
ngl this guy is very quiet...Idk why? but I have my speakers set on 50% with some loud speakers, and he is speaking like a normal TH-camr. That ain't normal. Maybe turn the volume up on your mic next time, so it is a bit easier to hear.
