I know this is a video that you created some time ago, but I want to Thank You for doing this and I'm happy I had a chance to view it. I agree, if things are neat and organized, I feel better when I start to create. It is also more calming to be in the space for me. I too have way too much of "stuff" and after two years of doing this, I see what really appeals for me and what no longer works....time to donate. One tip: your vintage stamps in the box, maybe take a nice piece of card stock that fits on the long side inside the box and stamp each image on the card to coincide with each stamp in the box. I know, I forget after time which is which...it is easier than digging in the box....hope this hit helps. I have a bunch of misc and large punches given to me so I made punch cards and put the cards in a small photo album 4x5" and all I have to do is look at the album and refresh my mind on what I have. Thanks again for inspirations. Hugs from MN

Love the adjustments! I like organizing things, and I recognize that one of the things I enjoy about paper and book arts is that it gives me a chance to organize the things that I really love working with. It’s a process, not a project. I love the way you approach it. Thank you! (Those jars! 😍)

Barbara, I love this whole cabinet you have. I just got a huge cabinet from my Mother In Law and am loving it. Got all my stuff off the floor! I need to organize it better. It was fun watching you organize yours. Love the jars on the top, they are so pretty. TFS! ❤️

I think for the material scraps that are too short to wrap you could take the same cardboard and staple on end of the scrap to the cardboard and have it in such a fashion that you can flip through them and only need to remove the staple if you are using that whole one or just snip off a piece.

You can screw the lid of a and to the under side of your table or shelf, the attach the jar so that it hangs.

Thanks so much for this playlist I’ve been decluttering right alongside you. So nice to have crafty company as I go through all my supplies.
You could put all those things you have in ziplock bags in the zipper things on the door. Then you could use some of your paper creations to label them. That way they would look cohesive, you’d put your projects to use, free up space in the draws and make the most of your storage. 😄

Oh wow it’s looking so cute!! Love those jars.I’m constantly organizing and reorganizing my bits and pieces and I definitely find that I use the things up that I can see or if I know exactly where they are. Sometimes i like to go through stuff and pull out some bits of things that I haven’t been using, and then put them into the pretty visible storage and that causes me to use them. It’s a rotation that’s been working really good for me..and I can choose when I do it, helps keep crafting from getting stale.

Beautiful jars! Really adds cuteness to your area. I like "My Happy Spaces" idea of the curtain to cover the velcro wall. But some thing that might be easier to use would be a roll-up blind. Easy to install at the top of door. The curtain would have to move side to side. Good luck. I completely understand why your eyes wouldn't want to look at the full bags and the black behind.

Thanks for the tips. I love your organizational videos. The new glass jars are beautiful. I can't begin to imagine having art supplies so tidy. I use small Amazon boxes which is completely impractical because I have to do a lot of digging to find what I'm looking for. Omg another idea for the door: what if you made that door a magnetic sheet and then could put any of the containers that have multiple spots (like your plastic containers that have all of your metal items) could go onto the door and then all of them would be visible?

Elizabeth St Hillaire reported in one of her videos recently that you should never store your gelli plate between the two plastic sheets that the plate comes wrapped in when you buy it. She said it can end up sticking to and ruining your plate. She said it’s ok to store it in the clamshell packaging that it comes in but don’t store it between those two plastic sheets. I have always kept the sheets and stored my plate that way and have had no issue but I’m going to throw them know that I know.

Your new jars look amazing!!!!!! I don't know how accesable you washi tape is but I was thinking you could store your washi tape in the plastic velcro bags on the door. You could index which washi tapes are in the bages by displaying a strip of the tape on the flat side of the bag that's on the outside. You could just grab whichever bag you need and go with it. I hope that makes sense!!!!! Just thinking that would free up some space inside for you!

You don't need a craft room. Here's the absolute truth, you should be able to keep everything you need for junk journaling in 6 shopping bags. People with craft rooms aren't actually using all that stuff. Most of it never gets used. I just bought half of a craft room at an auction, and 90% of the stamps, paper, special scissors, crimpers, cuttlebug and cricut supplies, digikits, stickers, etc., were unopened and unused. You have 10 rubber stamps you use all the time, a dozen favorite papers, 3 fancy scissors you prefer, 5 gadgets, 7 ink pads you actually like, a handful of embellishments that you can't make out of scraps any time you need them. Get rid of everything else. You don't need it, and the excess stuff is keeping you from enjoying the creation of your art. It would be like having a thousand cars. You might have 3 favorites, but you probably only need one. The rest of them would just be taking up space with no purpose. Declutter, that's the best way to organize.

@@jukes243 "You" in the global sense. Even a TH-cam crafter has gobs of stuff they bought/were given that she doesn't use. I bet she doesn't even use 1/8 of that stuff on a regular basis, and can't remember the last time she used it, and maybe doesn't remember that she has it. I bet she has many duplicates. There's no need to keep every little thing forever.

Hi Barbara, I have been enjoying your declutter vids (and all the others too!) and I hope there are more to come. Here are my tips: 1) Outta sight, outta mind! I hate to see you not using those velcro bags; they are clear for a reason - so you can SEE what you have. It's easy to forget what supplies you have when they are in a container, in a container, in a container. Not sure how strong the velcro is but even it you put a beautiful tin in a pouch, it would free up space. 2) Keep like with like; I keep all my sharps in the same pouch, all my envelopes in the same drawer etc. 3) what you use every day should be closest to you and easily reached, rarely used items farther away or underneath. 4) When you are done crafting, put EVERYTHING away - where it belongs. Staying tidy is half of organization! I have been streaming your videos for 2 days and I can probably tell you what should go where but then it wouldn't be your craft area, it would be mine! Stay strong, keep doing what you are doing and it will all fall into place. Regards, Rose

I've just watched these 3 declutter videos back to back. One thing that you say repeatedly:
"I don't know why I never use these?"
My suggestion: make a list of all the things you said this to, for example, the postage stamp album with ephemera in it, so visible and easy to use and make yourself pull those out every time you sit down to craft.
You might even consider moving some drawers around to have an easy-to-reach section of "things I need to use more often".
I really love the idea of putting things you made into their own album. I will call mine "Pretties" and use it for inspiration.
We use photo albums to remember good times we documented with photos, why not do the same for the creations that we love. Oh. Here's another idea. Take a photo of them and keep the photo and not the original. That frees up the original cluster, tag, and ephemera to sell, give away or use!

I never knew what ephemera was nor ever heard of it before so I googled it and the results said “ Ephemera is not normally considered something to collect, save, cherish or keep.” so now I am really confused.

I had to go through this already Barbara because I had a new floor put in my craft room, so I had to totally go through everything and empty the room completely and then after the floor was done, I had to put the room back together again! It was such a job but so worth it!

The jars are adorable! I have been organizing and cleaning my craft space. It is a huge undertaking, but we sure need to do this once a year or so. Love the large stamps you have,

I make little kits of stuff that work well together to use on projects..the plastic bags on the doors would work well for that..i would also use them for my bits and pieces of lace and ribbons and even for small dimensional embellies....but then again i am a gatherer so i love to scratch around for stuff...

Sadly, my place is too small to be overwhelmed. It takes ALOT of restraint not to buy more supplies, but the lack of room forces it.

Great job refining your organization!! LOVE the glass jars; what you decided to put in them & where you placed them!! Perhaps use those plastic pouches to store paper/silk flowers or even those new butterflies you bought!? Please keep us posted in your progress & process...so enjoyable & inspiring!! ❤🤗🦋

I love the organization!! Clear and open boxes are making way to my craft room! I also keep a rolling carts. 1 for paint/multi media supplies 1 for regularly used items (I don’t have a storage closet) 1 for items that I’m using on current project (keeps my desk clear) and 1 for my sewing stuff and die cuts. My dream is to own a cabinet like yours!

Looks fabulous Barbara! I’m so glad you bought the jars, they look gorgeous up there! I thought it was fantastic that all your special stamps (which are awesome) fit so perfectly in the box! Looks cool too! Great job!!! And good for you getting rid of what you don’t need! Wonderful video! Definitely inspiring and not just for the craft room! 💜

Super idea with jars as storage! I need to get one for my washi tapes! And, yes... since I don't have a craft room either, I really need to get going in reorganising and declutter! I'm currently hooked on making matchbox sized journals, which is a good thing because they don't take up much space at all. :D

Every little bit helps! My biggest issue seems to be all the great things I find in the thrift stores. I mean, who doesn’t want 10 metres of cream coloured tassel trim for $2.? Realistically I will never use it all so I have started cutting things in half and sending them back to the thrift store. Great work Barbara. Hugs and blessings, 🤗❤️🇨🇦

I’m heading over to my gel plate supplies, I’m guilty as well of storing my plate on its side. I’m hopping it’s not already ruined 🤯🤯. I’m constantly reorganizing lately. Unfortunately I seem to be just shuffling things around, not necessarily getting rid of much. It’s a slow ongoing process for sure. I giggled when you told the story of your shopping trip. But, your purchases have been put to great use. ❤️

I like the idea of pretty paper in the pouches. I used that idea in clear boxes I have that I want to hide the stuff in. Labeling helped me remember what's in each box.
The jars look great on top of the cabinet.
Looks like things are coming along nicely.
    Tfs

Hi Barbara, oh my goodness. I’ve been storing my plates on their side also. Thank you to the person that brought up storage. I too did not read the plate information. Nothing new for me 😂. I paused you and found a flat place to store. 💜

I glued a fairly strong magnet to a place where I want to keep my scissors handy. Since the scissors are metal, they stick right on. Also I moved my desk away from the wall so that my chair now looks outward towards the room and I put som metal squares onto the wall so now, with magnets I can put lots of things right there behind my desk. One thing that I put on there is my decorative edge scissors.. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!💕

The vintage wooden spools could be used to make really cute Christmas ornaments OR the smaller ones could be used as dangles on a journal! I always keep my eye out for those in the thrift stores to do just that! The leather travelers notebook that you liked the color of, you could cut it up and use the leather for a book plate or maybe tabs? They are cute! I love watching these videos!

Only use fingernail polish remover on fabritac, or 3-1 that acetone based and with the little bottle you have I keep a stainless steel eyepin in mine if not the opening gets clogged and makes it harder to come out.

Not tidying with you today sweetheart as we're sorting spare room for decorating! Alcohol thins spirit based glues brilliantly. You can put mica on glue dots for a fun decoration, after applying. Glycine is wonderful stuff! Your goodwill has amazing stuff 😍😍😍. Rearranging is as good as de-cluttering I think. OMG those jars are ADORABLE 😍😍😍. I need to find somewhere for my jars so I can use them 🤔 maybe the windowsill. Tfs and have a great weekend 💖💖💖

Create Room has plastic clear jars that fit in the doors of your Dream box. Also if you keep reading your gelli plate instructions you are suppose to remove and not use the plastic that it is packaged in, store it in the clam shell case but not the plastic sheets.

Wow…..that whole cabinet sits in your living room….and you craft on your dining room table…..yikes….I am not sure I could do that…..I know we don’t all that the luxury of a craft room…but seeing all that stuff all the time would make my minimalist and ocd brain go into overdrive….I see now why you have to be so super tight in your storage…..don’t those doors close up like into a box where you don’t have to look at it all the time??

    • @49dragonflies
      @49dragonflies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, the whole cabinet closes completely, but since I use it every day it would be a hassle to clear and put down the desk part every day… thankfully my hubby is fine with it….😬

I wanted to explain how the ikea towel rack works for your punches. I have them on the back of my craft room door. They never fall down. When you have the towel rod hung you just slide the punch against the door with the handle of the punch over the rod and that holds them in place. I hope that made sense. Please send me a message if you need more information. You are making so much progress. I really love the jars on top of your cabinet. Hugs, treen ✈️💜💜💜

I'm still decluttering since the big move. So many papers that I don't use anymore will be a huge surprise from someone at our Goodwill. I may need to go through my scissors but I have a journaling set and a sewing set so they do all have their particular uses. What I haven't found since our move is my Crop-a-dial. I'm trying not to panic just yet. Please keep doing these episodes. You've got me going and I'm not done yet!
