Lovely work as always! Just wanted to say thank you for being my inspiration, I decided to go full time chainsaw carving 6 months ago. Don't think I'm going to make my millions however mentally it has done me the world of good. I've been enjoying your videos for the last 18 months and they helped push me to make the career change. Keep up the excellent work 😊
Love to hear it, congrats on being brave and taking that leap, it's not an easy decision! Carving really is like medicine when it comes to mental health, glad it has helped! It made a world of difference for me too! Keep it up!
I am totally in awe of your ability to carve these amazing creations. You have a unique talent and I love watching your chainsaw carving videos, thanks for sharing them here for us to enjoy. Great job on this owl.
What a charming owl Tay! I love that you put her name on the book! I can only imagine the smell of that cedar! I grew up with at least forty cedars around the house and could smell them again in my mind watching this video. Another Winner! Chirp~
What amazing work. I tried to see how you knew where to cut and not mess up? I can’t figure it out? I used to live in Maine (Phippsburg), and was proud of myself when I cut firewood with my chainsaw. Not quite the same. Love your videos.❤❤
It's just takes time and practice! I usually know where the nose of the bar is even when I can't see it, especially with the saw/bar combos I use most. I love this state! Both my neighbors cut firewood for a living, it's hard work!
Man it's dope how good you have gotten in two years. I recently got into carving and your videos blow me away more than any of the other channels. I hope I'm as good as you in two years time.
It's all about practice and dedication! It's been 2.5 years of 6-8 hours behind the say 5-7 days a week. Lots of hours packed into a short time! Always have lots of references too!
This owl is a beautiful heirloom piece. Definitely something to be proud of for sure. Most wood we call cedar isn't cedar at all but in the cypress or juniper family. There are only five species of true cedar trees. If you ever get your hands on a Deodora cedar log don't pass it up. The grain pattern and structure of Deodora cedar is so incredibly beautiful and it carves really nicely. Deodora means timber of God and originates in the Himalayan mountains but many have been planted here. You can always recognize one because the very tippy top always bends and curves over. Anyway, thanks for the video of your excellent artwork.
Yes, Eastern White Cedar, aka Northern White Cedar, is a Thuja which is probably why it typically doesn't get very large. It smells amazing and it is a joy to carve, but it is quite hard to find langer than post Cedar. When I was in MT competing this past year, I got to visit some of the mother cedars at The Ross Creek Scenic area. It was breathtaking!
Omg, I love it! I finally started posting a few of the things I've carved so far, here on YT. I'm getting better, and your creativity is always inspiring to do and try new things. Keep em coming! :)
Very right about the cleaner stain to the owl? Those that don’t put detail into a carve make it to easy to walk by it. You do things right and it keeps the eye on the object! I’m still going for that Doberman carve so watch for a e mail.
Dang it Tay, Everytime I watch one of your videos it makes me want to get back into carving. My second back surgery is when I started for therapy. I carved solid for about two years and just kinda fell to the wayside. But you inspire me
This is the second video I have caught of yours. I am just in shock at how well you wield a chainsaw with such precision. And yes I am thinking about you being not just a woman, but a young one and so good at what you do. Amazing work young lady. BRAVO!
the smell of saw dust and coffee with another grate carving video.. good way to start the morning sitting in the backyard looking at all the red woods i can cut and carving a dino. 😂😂😂
Mmmm especially cedar! Carves like butter and smells like the best cologne, easily my favorite wood to work with when I can find it! Would love to carve red wood, I'm jelly!
For some odd reason. When I heard an owl and books, I thought of Harry Potter 😂. Never read the books or watched any of the films. Great carving Tay. The finish turned out amazing. The eyes really pop 🦉
@@TayMarie23 Ammmmm no 😂, I was never into things like that. But I can see how lots of people are. Maybe the owl is perched on Harry Potter books 🦉📚 🤔 😂. Yeah, why not get audio books when you like them.
Oh, it turned out so beautiful!!🤩 I'm not surprised though, from your first carving, I've been hooked on your channel. I know you do a lot of editing, but watching you carve is just so satisfying. I get to a certain point, and then have to sit back n stare at it for awhile before I decide where to cut next or how I want too move forward with it. I imagine that over time I'll get more confident with my cuts, but I learn a lot from watching other carvers. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent and for sharing you with us too. You're just awesome, n I hope you get told that every day. Also, what is the corded tool you were using with your flap sander? I really liked the design of the handles on it. Do you prefer that tool over using a regular die grinder?
What a kind comment, thank you! And trust me, I stare at my carvings just as much as I make cuts, but no one wants to see me staring blankly at a piece of wood so I cut that stuff out for yall 😂 I think you are referring to my D handle drill with my home made flap star on it? It's a powerful 1/2" chuck drill, I also use it to drill 1" dowel holes for securing attachments. I have had to splice the cord and few times because I keep snapping it with m6 flap sanded 😅
Wow! If you were only half as good at nursing as you are at carving, it must have been a huge loss to the medical community! But I sure am glad to see you expressing your talent here!
I was honestly a great nurse, almost to a fault. I gave too much of myself to my patients, leaving me an empty shell of a human. This job is much better suited for me, greaful that I took the leap of faith!
I don't really know honestly 😅 I just keep removing wood until it looks like an owl! I actually find it easier to carve things than to draw them sometimes!
OMG… That is GORGEOUS! The design, the carving, the painting - all of it. So awesome, Tay! What a terrific creation. 👍🏼
Aw thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with this one! 😊
Lovely work as always!

It smells so dang good! My nose is pretty numb to he smell of pine these days, but cedar, I can still smell as strong as ever!

one of your better pieces,,, the flow of the body anatomy really comes together, the great horn is probably one of the harder ones to do.
Bravo
I have done a few this year, they are definitely getting easier with practice!

You always nail it. The eyes look real.
Love all the face details on the owls! Especially their eyes!

👍Cool Owl on books 🦉📘📒📕
Bee-yoo-tee-full! I like how you did the feathers on this one, realistic and detailed. Is that type of cedar as fragrant as red cedar? TY
Beautiful 🦉❤️
Thank you. Congratulations on a great job. Something i miss is the lovely smell of the wood as it is carved off. One day we'll have smell_o_vision!
Oh yes! Always smells great here 😋

Can you carve me a 12 foot tall by 6 foot wide Sasquatch? 😂😂😂😂

How on earth are you doing that i cant even draw a owl
I don't really know honestly 😅 I just keep removing wood until it looks like an owl! I actually find it easier to carve things than to draw them sometimes!
Hope he doesn't keep it outside😎
It would do just fine outside, especially this one since it's cedar, but I think the plan for this one is for it to sit on a desk!
Love watching your videos
Mainly because you’re so damn likable
But I do love the carving
