I have been through the system for the first few years of my life then got back to my mum my mum has worked her way and has been through alot with socail services fought hard to get me back I'm proud of her for it
To be a Social Worker must surely be very rewarding. There is a deep sense of pride when a Social Worker is successful when dealing with clients, knowing they have helped and rectify a problem. This profession is a 'helping' profession and the ultimate goal is to ensure the client's problem is solved or the best outcome for all parties involved are achieved. Assessing a case from an objective eye gives all parties an opportunity to be heard and understood.
Why do you think this is a generalised view.Its because in many many case's the system lets the parents down and no support is put in place.When you do become a worker your be working hand in hand with the Safe Guarding teacher's in school *wink wink*..

Even in cases where children are removed, the ultimate goal is to rehabilitate the parents in order for the children to be returned when the environment has improved. In some cases, like those involving babies, this isn't possible because the baby needs a loving and nurturing home and cannot afford to wait for their parents to get themselves together.

l once had a s worker at my school who turned up twice without informing my parents first!! l went along with what she was asking me to do, like draw a man for me, but what really got my back up about her was she said l can tell her anything that was worrying me so l told her what was going on in school and what did she do only accuse me of lying to her!! it turned out l was autistic l later went to a new school. but the teachers and children were bullying me at the school. now l don't trust social workers thankfully l never had children of my own.

Good for you. If you want to help people, you can do so much with social work. You can do Child and family, mental health as a therapist (you'll need a clinical license though which requires a masters and 2 years of supervised practice), school social work, or macro social work which is more about community action, social justice advocacy, and social policy. You can also get a doctorate and teach or do research. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm working on my bachelors of social work now, and plan to get my masters.

Liz curry kind of assumed that the boy was just calling because he ‘wasn’t getting his own way’ but what if he was being abused or something just seems like she makes instant assumptions. There have been cases where kids have been abused in foster care.

When a child protection case is taken to court it goes on the balance of probability, not actual evidence, as its a civil case and not a criminal one. A judge will decide based on the opinions of professionals whether or not a child should be removed.

My half sister is a social worker who abuses her power. I have washed my hands of her because of her actions. She can be vile at times and I’m ashamed to even admit she is a social worker. I am not a hater of social workers. They saved me when I was younger, it is my sisters abuse of her powers that I hate!!!

However, we now have seen, over the past 10-15 years, that Social Services are not fit for purpose....in fact, they are willing and active facilitators or child abuse, sexual abuse, rape and more. I am convinced that most people wishing to pursue a career in this sector are going in with a pure motive and with good intent. The issue is their hierarchy - the managers and above, who are neck-deep into paedophilia and perversion. As with the children themselves, when they discover this, they have nowhere to go - nobody who will take note of their "whistle-blowing". Fearing for their job, career and even their life, they naturally shrink back into line. (I may well be the same, faced with those options, but I think I would be determined to do the right thing). This whole production is a veil....a show which gives the message that Social Services are "guardian angels", who always act in the interest of the children they encounter. 1995 5000 children were removed from their parents. Now 11000 children a year are removed. Do you know how much money this generates. There is a reason for a deep suspicion.
If you don't agree with the social services they will take you to court and try to remove your children from you. I have experienced that myself. Luckily for my family, they have lost the case. Normally, they let down children who are in need and pick on good stable families.

When social services intervened after I was SEN statemented All they did was speak to my mum and only got to agree on the actions of social services Not be able to choose a workable educational pathway until my 16th Instead was sent to a school for of abusive teachers barely qualified to handle SEN pupils And medical member of staff who want even qualified either to give out medical assistance to us at all at the school I was sent to I never had the problem of having to enter the Care system But I know that once your old enough you’re left out in open Should be a transitional period from care to adulthood with job assistance and a place to live via a charity None of the staff were as nice as the lady on this video

What a load of rubbish. Council estate girl here, teenage single parent, left school at 13, and couldn't be further from middle class, but here I am on my first year as a social work student. This is a super old comment but as a student studying social work in australia, I can assure you our whole paradigm within children and families is keeping them within the family where they belong. I've seen horrific cases where newborn babies were left at trainstations and after rehabilitation and care for the mum the children were returned back to the family.
