In 1956, we strategically decided to expand our operations globally by acquiring Arpic Engineering, a Belgian manufacturer of compressors. This acquisition allowed us to broaden our product range and establish a more substantial presence in the international market.
After the acquisition, our name changed to Atlas Copco, derived from the French words "Compagnie Pneumatique Commerciale," which translates to "commercial pneumatic company.” This new name reflected our company's focus on pneumatic equipment. The acquisition of Arpic Engineering marked a significant milestone in Atlas Copco's history, as it represented the company's first major international expansion.
