- In the ongoing discussion in the Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee raised questions about the impartiality of the Election Commission and said, "I want to ask why elections were conducted in 7 phases in the country." There was an uproar over his comment. Then Speaker Om Birla interrupted Banerjee and said that you are a senior member, it would be better if you do not raise questions on the credibility of the Election Commission in the House.

लोकसभा में जारी चर्चा में तृणमूल कांग्रेस सांसद कल्याण बनर्जी ने चुनाव आयोग की निष्पक्षता को लेकर सवाल उठाते हुए कहा, "मैं पूछना चाहता हूं कि देश में आखिर 7 चरणों में चुनाव क्यों कराए गए." उनकी इस टिप्पणी पर हंगामा हो गया. फिर स्पीकर ओम बिरला ने बनर्जी को टोकते हुए कहा कि आप वरिष्ठ सदस्य हैं, चुनाव आयोग की विश्वसनीयता पर सदन में सवाल न ही उठाएं तो बेहतर होगा. उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि पीएम मोदी ने सरकार बनाने के लिए भ्रष्ट नेताओं का सपोर्ट लिया. मोदी की गारंटी की कोई वारंटी नहीं रह गई है. पिछले 10 सालों में पीएम की ओर से कभी भी विपक्ष के लिए मीठा शब्द सुनने को नहीं मिला. आप हर गैर बीजेपी शासित राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री से नफरत करते हैं.
