    Great tips. Ableton allows you to tune 808s as well. I use the Ableton tuner and the hornet plugin.

    How do you deal with 808s that are not tuned to C? What’s a faster fix to that than just transposing to c by ear?

    • @SwiftDreamer
      @SwiftDreamer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Get a tuner Plugin, or of you got FL you could try the Edison trick (you might need to bring the 808 and octave up)

    Hi what version of melodyne do you need to find the bass notes

    • @slunkzilla
      @slunkzilla 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You seriously don’t need melodyne to lay down an 808 pattern in key. If you’re having a hard time hearing it well when In normal pitch, put it together 1-2 octaves up and then transpose down.

    • @pr4yTheProducer

      Cakewalk by bandlab (which used to be Sonar and a competitive cost, paid DAW) is completely free now that bandlab bought it. Plus you get all the sounds and samples in bandlab to use, PLUS cakewalk comes with a light version of melodyne, it can't do everything, but it can still tune my vocals like they were laid down in a midi piano roll.

    How do people struggle with out of key 808s? Like, just look at what the key of your track is and not use notes that aren’t in scale? Am I missing something?? Bro said not to use too many mixing plugins but uses melodyne to not make out of key 808s lmao

    • @PreFusah
      @PreFusah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just cause the 808 playing in the scale doesn't necessarily mean it will sound good with the chord progression.

    • @slunkzilla
      @slunkzilla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PreFusah that’s true but this melodyne trick doesn’t solve it either. I guess if you always just want to follow the bass notes of your chords with your 808s then that makes sense but then you’ll just keep making stale boring patterns every time

    • @IBEENART
      @IBEENART 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      its alot of factors tbh. sometimes its the room, sometimes its the warped sample, sometimes its because your ears are shot & you cant recognize the notes because you made so much music & loud levels. i used melodyne to get the notes then disabled it. its just things i've experienced thru my years of making music, youll get there eventually.

    • @slunkzilla
      @slunkzilla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IBEENART I get why you might have trouble recognizing the notes with all factors that you listed, and like I said if your goal is to just follow the sample melody or chords directly with 808 hits then it works, but I’d encourage people to actually hum or sing out the 808 pattern that comes to their mind and bangs, put it 2 octaves up to hear the notes clearly, put it on piano roll and transpose down and see if it works. Might not work 100% times but it will actually be a creative process and will make your 808s stand out when your pattern fits. Also trains your ear and makes you a better composer in the process - after some time you might even start a song with an 808 pattern that you came up with yourself and build a chord progression around it and not the other way round. Cheers!
