    The raw and realness really make me feel good about the video, as nothing seemed made out for the sake of shooting. Ultimately ends up being proper performance showcase of the lens.. I ordered this lens to give a try after watching this video. good luck guys. lots of love both of you

    Tip: Remember to update your FW with Samyang lenses...I checked the FW on my AF 18mm f2.8 FE, that I recently bought used, and found it was still on the original FW (V0.1) from new...When I updated it on my lens station it went to FW V0.6!
    BTW, I recommend the AF 35mm f2.8 FE rather than the AF 45mm f1.8 FE...It's the lightest AF lens in the world (only 84g without hood and caps!), so it's a lot easier to carry around and as reviewer Christopher Frost found, it's really sharp from corner to corner even wide open, with great contrast and virtually no CA, plus it's really inexpensive...It's a must have for Sony users.
    I bought one used, and as before I checked the FW version and this time found it was on V0.3...Thinking it would update to V0.4, I was shocked to find it actually updated to FW V0.7!

    A whole vlog of beautiful A7III night footage, just lovely:) Once I get my 1 camera 1 lens setup I may put Australia at the top of my list of places to visit. Some beautiful cities over there...not digging the spider pics i've seen but the cities are great lol. A7III with the Tamron 17-28mm should make a nice all around kit for me tho, but this 45mm may make a good bokeh prime on the side for those beauty shots.
    Oh and those Phantom LUTs that look like Arri footage, dying to try those LUTs on the A7III stuff I shoot, love me some Arri colors:)

      Jordan you will love the a7iii! The Tamron 17-28 + 28-75 would be a perfect combo. Samyang 45mm is a boutique lens... it might be good a a third lens? Just my opinion. It’s great to have so many options for the E-mount

      Hi mate. Most of the photos where on the 45 but about 90% of the video was with the 18. The easiest way to tell the difference is by looking at the corners especially when there is movement. The 18 has obvious distortion, it’s not like real life, it might not look like gopro barrel distortion but it is distortion. Check out our review on the 18 mm Samyang for more examples ✌️

    Great vid. I have an a7iii with a tamron 28-75 and a 70-200 gmaster. Need to try and go into a shop to try the samyang 18mm on and then see if the tamron 17-28 is a better buy for the wide angle lens I need. Question I wanted to ask was are they presets you use whith the photos in this video? If so, what ones or are they your own custom made? They look very cool😎.

    • @JapanLovers
      @JapanLovers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment! We have both lenses and if light weight and low cost is a priority go for the 18mm. For a bit better quality and versatility go for the 17-28. I dont use presets or artistic luts on video or photo. I will eventually make a video on how I edit so stay tuned ☺️

    Guys, thanks for the amazing video.
    Love the vibe.
    Came to watch how these lenses performed and stayed for you. Thanks!
    One info: I’m looking to buy a VLOGGING lens for my new Sony a7c.
    I’m thorn between the Samyang 18mm f2.8 (I love how compact and small and lightweight it is! Seems a heavenly match with the A7c)
    And the Tamron 17-28 2.8 (love that is a zoom lens so I can zoom if I need it when I’m vlogging around to show things, but it’s bigger, heavier and more expensive)
    and the Sony 16-35 f4 (love that it has OSS, and I think it would work with the Sony ibis and produce a more stabilized footage, but is F4 and heavy...)
    I like my lens to be as light and compact as possible (for vlogging is ideal) but I wouldn’t mind a bit of zoom, just to make the video more interesting to watch by zooming on some scenes to show specific things) don’t really know what should I give up.
    Compactness or zoom?
    What should I do in your opinion? I really need an advice! Thanks 🙏🏻

    • @JapanLovers
      @JapanLovers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi V! Thanks for out of your kind positive words. I will definitely go with the Samyang 18 mm. It’s still a very great lens and would Perfectly pair with the A7C. The Tamron is just a bit too big in my opinion. Because that cameras purpose-built for compactness and front heavy lenses do not feel good on Sony APS C type bodies which the a 7C feels very much like. Add another light medium & tele prime for more reach. In fact only be using light primes on that camera. Hope that helps ✌️

Just filmed some events the other week with the weebill lab and wasn’t too bad but I was using apsc cameras and lenses, def helps if you have some sort of stabilisation in the camera or lens but overall I was happy with the footage, I have a trip coming up in December to go to the Canadian Rockies, currently debating whether I bring the weebill or the crane m2 😕
