  • When a worshiper kindles this sacrificial fire, it guards him from malevolent viruses and protects him from sorrow and anxiety. Heroic people born in noble families honor and serve this fire with offerings.
    Se’d agnir yo vanuṣhyato nipaati
    Sameddhaaram aṅhasa uruṣhyaat
    Su-jaataa’saḥ pari charanti veeraaḥ - Rig Veda 7:1:15
    ================================================================
    The Vedas talk of a culture of Agnihotra that involves kindling a fire in a copper pyramid-like receptacle and making offerings of clarified unsalted butter, specially prepared grains, and mixed herbs while holy Vedic Mantras are chanted. This Agnihotra is aimed at purifying the atmosphere and it is timed to coincide with the sunrise/sunset biorhythm. It came down from ancient India, but now, it popularly practiced not only in India, but also in many parts of the world. Performers testify that Agnihotra reduces stress, leads to greater clarity of thought, improves overall health, gives one increased energy, and fill the mind with love. It is a great aid to drug and alcohol de-addiction. Agnihotra also nourishes plant life and neutralizes harmful radiation and pathogenic bacteria. It harmonizes the functioning of one’s life energy and can be used also to purify water resources.
    In addition to energy generated from the sacrificial fire, there are also subtle energies created by rhythmic chanting of the Mantras. These energies are thrust into the atmosphere by Agnihotra fire. This, in addition to the qualities of the materials burned, produces the full effect of Agnihotra healing.
    Tremendous amounts of energy are gathered around the copper pyramid-receptacle just at Agnihotra time. A magnetic-type field is created which neutralizes negative energies and reinforces positive energies. Agnihotra rids the atmosphere of pollutants and neutralizes harmful radiation. The resultant atmosphere gives nourishment to plant life. When clarified butter is offered and burnt in the fire, butter particles are thrust into the atmosphere and attach themselves to the molecular structure of the soil, allowing the soil to retain more moisture. Plants grown in Agnihotra atmosphere are better able to withstand droughts. Also, Agnihotra causes a change in the cellular structure of the plant which sends more nutrients to the fruit of the plant and less to the leaves, stems and roots. Many people have found that the size, taste, texture and yield of fruits and vegetables grown in Agnihotra atmosphere are superior. Performance of Agnihotra in the garden reduces pest problems. Organic gardening and farming are made easier by using the Agnihotra technique.
    In addition to changes in the atmosphere, Agnihotra renews brain cells, revitalizes skin and purifies blood. Many people who are normally allergic to smoke experience a healing effect by sitting in the Agnihotra atmosphere. The healing effects of Agnihotra are locked in the resultant ash. Thousands of people in different parts of the world have experienced wonderful healings of all types of ailments by using Agnihotra ash. It is for the foregoing reasons that this Mantra says that when a worshipper kindles this sacrificial fire, it guards him from malevolent viruses and protects him from sorrow and anxiety. And, people born in families practicing Agnihotra heroically honor and serve this fire by making specified offerings at the right time of sunrise and sunset. Manu Smriti 2:18 testifies that a person’s body is made divine through the performance of Agnihotra. Shatapath Brahmana 11:2:6:12 also informs that even as a snake frees itself from its skin, so does the honest Agnihotra worshipper free himself from sinful inclinations. And finally, Mundak Upanishad 1:2:6 says that through the rays of the sun, Agnihotra offerings take the worshipper with honor, and say these loving words to him: “This blessed region of bliss, is all yours to enjoy.” Friend, aren’t you convinced that this is the time for you to further explore this technique, that you start kindling Agnihotra fire and make offerings to purify the outer atmosphere and your inner self?
