- Gift Ideas for the Vespa Lover! Here’s a review of some of my favorite gear and accessories that I carry on my 2023 Vespa GTS Super Sport. Scooters, and Vespas in particular, can be a money pit, just like any hobby. But quality scooter and motorcycle gear is expensive! Some of this stuff is obscenely expensive, some of it is pretty reasonable. We’ll look at my tail bag, flyscreen/windshield, Quad Lock phone mount, and more!
Here's the stuff. If you buy any of this gear through my affiliate links, I'll get a few cents to throw toward more stupid garbage to review... As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. I legally have to say that, I guess. I dunno. I've never done this sort of thing and probably never will again. But who knows...

UPDATE! The Saddlemen bag is garbage. It has moved from a STRONG BUY to a DO NOT BUY! I may make a video about it, but suffice it to say, it completely failed me the other day, 300 miles from home. Like absolute catastrophic failure.
Air tag 🛵 rear folding rack, tire plugs, air pump (manual) , battery tender hook ups, volt meter that plugs in to battery tender plug, spare fuses, rain poncho, bungees, insulated bag for groceries. That's all I have to say about that.
Oh SHOOT! I totally forgot to mention my Battery Tender hookup. Attached to battery and strung through the frame so it's always there and ready. Uhg! It was actually a note in the scribble-festival I call a script. I'll have to do a separate, way-too-long video about it.
I like the idea of a volt meter that hooks up to the hook-up.
Your vids/vlogs/blogs whatever they are make me smile nearly as much as my gts300 does when I'm out fir a ride and that's sure alot!!! Keep up the vids!!!! 😊
Wow, thank you so much!!!
Love your funny comments. Makes watching the video more enjoyable. 😊
Thank you!!!
Bug's humour is so addictive, he's a 'must subscribe to TH-camrologist'. Best wishes from the south west coast of the island of Australia.
May I use that quote in my autobugography?
I have a 2022 GTS Super and the first thing I swapped out was the seat. Opted for the gel and huge improvement especially on long rides. Also, I swapped out all the chrome, silver and the turn signal lamps for black on my yellow scoot. Got the black oil cover with the little viewing window too. I think I have the coolest scooter now! There is also a nifty fuel tank attachment so you can just insert the pump and no overspill.
I do like the idea of the folding rack for long trips but no to the fly screen for the following reasons:
1) Riding thru a swarm of small bugs is like being pelted by bb slugs , bigger bugs are like paint ball pellets that leave a badge of honor. admittedly cleaning the jacket afterwards is a little gross
2)racing down a 2 lane open road at 100Km/h (60 Mi/h i think) on a windy day. Watching a 18 wheeler rig barrelling towards you. holding on for dear life as you cross paths. the split second of calm before the feeling of being punched in the chest with a sledgehammer by a wall of wind. Always puts a smile on my dial.
great vids so far. You rock!?!
You are absolutely hysterically funny. I loved this video and yes I love gadgets. I just bought a Vespa yesterday. I am going to follow you into tomorrow. thanks for great information!! Ann d
You can take the Saddlemen's straps, cross them under the seat, and it'll function as a backrest as well as a bag AND the seat can still open without removing the bag. Frees the rack for orher stuff.
Wow. You just saved me from a big mistake. I was actually about to cut the straps down to about four inches, since that's all I'm using at the moment. Glad I didn't. Can't wait to try that out!
@@itsthebugshow let me know how it goes.
@@swolfarnold I gave it a try. I've only got two straps, both of which are attached at the back, so I'm trying to figure out how to cross them. I can get them under and attached if I don't cross them, per se, like an X. I think if I could get it like an X it'd be more secure. My brain isn't working. Is that a possibility and I'm just not seeing it?
@@itsthebugshow I have on the bag two rear attachment points (male) and two front points (female) - how do I send you a photo? The two removable straps each have a male clip at one end and a female clip at the other end. Yours differ?
@@swolfarnold Oh a photo would be great. Email bug at trebolar dot com - Thanks!
The only accessory I have is sunglasses
I need to get the windshield and phone holder for sure! But I’ll get a different phone holder cause I don’t wanna get frustrated trying to put my phone on it lol.
I'm looking at something like this. It's bigger, and kinda ugly, but it looks like it'd be MUCH less frustrating:

@@itsthebugshow thanks!
Nothing better in the market than Quadlock. It takes a second to place the phone on or off. Vibration dampener is excellent.
Maybe, but have you checked out the Peak Designs solution? I have not but it looks fantastic...
The Blanket is a big thing in northern France, in the winter months, especially in Paris.
I hear the Peak Design Motorcycle Bar Mount is better than the quad lock mount; it's magnetic and you don't have to twist it on.
I LOVE Peak Design stuff. Didn't know they made a mount. Definitely will check it out. Thanks!
@@itsthebugshow I have the Peak Design mount. MagSafe works. It just works.
I've got a phone holder that you put in a case. It's so much easier.
Then them crappie lockey things.
I don't use Amazon anymore, or I would have brought one of them bike trackers from here.
Oh ! Another hysterical video . . . who could possibly not thoroughly enjoy your sense of humor. I love your channel and thanks for this one ! :O :O :O
I know a few people who do not enjoy my sense of humor... :)
I used to have phone holder on bike before but and up not using it at all at the end. There is really no need to have phone attached on motorcycle.
1. Get a Bluetooth kit for the helmet like Cardo or Sena. You then hear the required navigation in helmet if needed the sat nav.
2. That one second looking elsewhere than the road ahead might cost you one day.
I think people without thinking from some reason taking the phone everywhere which is ok, but there is no need to look at it all day.
Fun stuff!
Grabbed a flyscreen and a folding rear rack with givi topcase (which goes on when needed, stays off otherwise). Had a HUGE wishlist on the two big websites (california and germany) butnhave pared it down to mostly mx consumables at this point. Probably getting 13s though so that wont be cheap..but what i wanted to blow i'm putting toward a rally. ;)
Good choice! I'd rather a rally than new toys.
Do you have to replace your bar ends with the Givi? That's one of the things that turns me off about the Vespa-branded top case. I don't even quite understand how the top case is related to steering...
I'm also looking at this windscreen. Did you get the smoked or the clear screen. I see @bugpnw got the smoked. I'm seeing if my local vespa has any right now.
@@itsthebugshowi did end up getting new bar ends, i found some oem piaggo units listed as "used" for less than the price of one "new" and the only indicator was no original box. Chrome was perfect and they don't stick out that far. It helps with balance overall, hard to explain but i felt a difference.
@@Fourwedgei got the clear one and immediately stickered it up 🤪 super easy to install.
DOH !!!
You used my suggestions all at once but there's still the Scooter Blanket to try. 😂
Remind me about the scooter blanket??
Oh, I see your other comment now!
Hi bug , the rear rack is a must have espicailly if you carry a passenger and the passenger foot peg adapters are great too . I agree on the fly screen ,the smaller ones look cool ,the taller ones just look ridiculous ! Im suprised you havent fitted an external usb connection for the phone ....maybe soon? ....Harry
Hey Harry. I use the usb connection that's in the glove box on the new GTS (which is too small to hold gloves, of course.) I just plug the cable in and close the door with the cord sorta wedged between. Doesn't seem to harm the cord, and it works great!
@bugpnw Ahh cool ...I was thinking of doing that but was afraid of damaging the door 😬think I'll give it a go now 😁
@@SCALE_SLOTCARS_AND_RC There are certain places where you place the cord that work better. For me it's toward the bottom. Just don't force it. Find a place to snake it out that doesn't put much pressure on the door when you close it.
More videos. That's an order. Hurry hurry.
YES SIR! (It's getting cold though...)
I’m think you have a defective quad lock unit. I have the same one and have no problems charging my iPhone. Great content btw
Funny,informative ❤from Philippines 😅
Thanks! 😃
The stuff in the bag 😂
Bizarre, in the UK the Quad lock case allows charger to plug in
My dream bike
Mushroom plugs are the best and are permanent. Peak design has the best phone it destroys and any other competitor by a huge margin
Why do you need the rack to fold?
You know, that's a really good question. I dunno!
Don't like ketchup???? Sinner! Enjoy. Stay safe.
I actually don't like MOST condiments. Mustard is repulsive. Relish comes straight from hell.
My nightmare is watching someone eat a hot dog with ketchup, mustard and relish, all smeared together. Oh my god just thinking about that...
I bought that air pump, another $2 for you... Haha.
I'M RICH! Hope you like the pump. It actually is very good, at least it has been for me. So far. Until it explodes.
@@itsthebugshow I lobe it. I already used it. Hahaha. Thanks for the recommendation.
I hate cheap gimmicks,
I hate expensive gimmicks even more.
Your speedometer shows km/h and mph in red underneath
The lame "humour" makes it painful to watch. Sorry, gave up after 3 minutes
You made it three minutes though. That's a record!
also, Sena’s SUCK. I have a GT Air II with the integrated ($350 dollar) SRL-2 and it’s hot garbage. One of the worst pieces of technology I’ve ever bought. Bad speakers, reception drops out all the time, pretty much everything about it sucks.
Yeah, honestly if the 50S were $120 I'd probably be ok with it. I was just about to return it, then went on a group ride with other folks who have Senas, and that's the only reason I'm keeping it. It's nice to have comms in group rides. That's it though. My Cardo is better in just about every other way.
I have used cardo for years and definitely like the older units. Have a couple newer helmets with the integrated Sena systems, not a huge fan of them. Found a unit by a company called Fod Sports. They are about $50 each buying singles. I love them. No higher priced comm units for me.
You’re using the quad lock wrong. For the sake of scooters learn to use a tire plug kit or don’t have an opinion.
Dude….you lost me when you insulted Quadlock. You need to learn how to use the product. I have a Gts 300 and Quadlock is the balls.
I studied the manual, took a few classes and even wrote my thesis on the Quadlock. Still sucks.
(My main point of contention with Quadlock though is their terrible, awful customer service.)
Poof bad
Hehehehe
