Here we are at the everglow and these boys have been singing for the past 48 hours... coming up on 3 am and get a request to do another... here it is. and man is joe a boooooomin bass or what. enjoy.
I had a chance to hear these guys at a recent barbershop festival in Russia... man, they're at the top of their game! Performance after performance for a week were all just great, and not bad guys to hang out with either :) They're gonna do well in Philly, no doubt!
a "Chinese 7th" is an inversion of a V7 chord where the Tenor and the Lead note are a whole step apart, and the Lead is usually above the Tenor. A "chinese" G7 chord would be "D" in the Bass, "B" in the Bari, "F" in the Tenor, and "G" in the Lead. The best explanation I've heard as to why it's called a Chinese 7th is that the top two notes are a whole step apart like the starting notes of the eponymous and ever-popular piano song "Chopsticks".
Twelfth voicing - Root, Octave, third, Fifth. I believe lead is octave, bari is the high third. I just heard them last night. Overtones on TH-cam are NOTHING like you hear live!
Nope, the voicing for the tags are Joe K low root, Joe C octave, Kipp high 3rd, Jack high 5th. I think its that way coz Kipp still has a dynamite full voice range and Jack has a killer falsetto. I have the DVDs to prove it haha
Yah they competed last year. Came in 5th I think. Mostly because they pretty much threw the final round. They did vocal percussion and all kinds of stuff making a play on how the society was straying from it's roots. I thought it was hilarious! :)
I've been trying to work out the voicings in this tremendous tag....I'm having difficulty working out what 'LeadJoe' does when 'Low Joe' takes over the lead note and what the bari does for the last note.....and what notes are sung and which are screaming overtones.....Any ideas?....anyone?
I stumbled onto you guys while surfing. Great vocals and blending. If you haven't already, you're going places. I see it was four years ago this was uploaded, so maybe you're no longer at it. I hope not.
Full-voiced tenors are just the BEST.
Jeez that tag was way too good! I miss Old School
1:41 Joe Connelly on bass
I love Joe's whhhaaa whaassss followed by the bell tones! 😎😁
Lol. The lead's face when he's posting looks like its glued that way. =P

1:56 - 2:00 was my favorite part of this whole song

Have you ever heard more Chinese 7ths in one song? It's terrific!Especially with Kipp pounding 'em on tenor.

Looking forward to hearing you in Llandudno guys!

BEAST!!
26 second hold from Joe in the tag. What a great performance from everyone.
Douglas he breaths when joe goes to the high octave, but still a long post
