You need to have them with you, but also let the eyes do a little adjusting time to time. Not that smart if you rely on them all the time.

Does anybody know which solo system he is climbing with?
exact. only at 3.10 min you can see that it ensures but I don't know with which technique? then I don't understand why he doesn't tie the ice axes. he is definitely a top climber. very good. but he seems too risky. usually professionals like him do not risk certain mountaineering rules.
He has a Grigri for the lead line, and a microtrax to keep the weight of the rope from feeding backwards through the Grigri. But based on that and the intervals that he is placing pro, I think he is using the system mostly to stay in a good headspace. Or perhaps he places more pro on difficult sections and we just didn't get to see that.
Where is he placing the micro trax?
