this video made me design so hard i’m coming back to youtube
KEL TRENDING IN 2024 📈📈
yessssss!
YESSS IM SO EXCITED!!!
HOLY SHIT
FINALLY
One thing gen Z and graphic design youtubers have in common is their passion to invent 50 new words for whatever design and aesthetic is in front of their field of vision every 5 hour.
The only one I accept is "Eco Brutalism" for brutalist architecture with overgrowth. The difference here is that it's obvious what's meant, though.
@@CEntertainArtisn’t eco brutalism literally solar punk? 😭😭😭
yeah this is the shittiest thing ever pinterest n tiktok was a mistake
@@serenedystopia3488who tf has ever said solar punk
@@estetico9282 solarpunk is also described as “hopecore” sometimes. it’s basically natural, sustainable, futurism. geodesic dome greenhouses, flower-shaped solar panels and the like.
3:08 the delayed censor bleep is funny every time
the color grading and dynamic angles are so eye-catching I cannot look away from the video.
the orange teeth are especially eye-catching, couldn't look away
i find the color grading atrocious 😭
wallahi true
elliot, please know everytime i see elliot 2 my world is a little better seeing that freaky fucking thing
i hope he proposes soon 🤞🤞🤞🤞
@@welliot is that not...incest? i was always under the assumption you had a father-son like relationship with clone elliot since you birthed him
@@chaples_i always thought of him as a roomate that wont leave
Ive been honing my Bart Deco work for a few years now - cool to see the more mainstream design scene finally catching up
Love the thumbnail I could tell it was yours right away 😊
Inspired by you****
I misread the description but recognized it as your style lol 😅
The sentence "2019 was 5 years ago" killed me. Like. What?
The thing with trends, like with fashion... we haven't changed that much in the last 20 years I think. 2019,... 2011... all the same in my head.
He was seven years old!!!!
omg same like i was counting the years and said "oh, he's right"
@@DvdBdjzDvl fashion is definitely a lot different now than it was in 2019. u wouldn't catch people dead in ripped skinny jeans and thrasher sweaters nowadays
I know next to nothing about graphic design youtube, or graphic design trend videos, but this video is so well made that I don't even care.
I agree
This was just full of nods to petty bohemian. Can’t go a day without nodding to it myself tbh
man this whole time I thought it was Patty Bohemian, thanks Elliot, for informing me of trends so I can design better
second elliot is the best bit ever. he talks so reasonably, but looks absolutely crazy.
This really made me track and kern all over my Photoshop until I Illustrator'ed, Elliot. Thank you for helping me export to completion
Finally someone platforming Bart Deco
Elliot I just graphic'd all over my design to your trend videos 😢😢
AWFUL READ!!
"retro vintage" oh my god
This man has excellent design skills, incredible video editing and storytelling/scripting, and to top all that he also has exceptionally good humor
bruh stop you're gonna question my heterosexuality 😭
💀
Idk why but the idea of someone questioning their sexuality just because they admire another man’s talent is so funny to me
I remember being told constantly in Graphic Design classes that I need to pay attention to trends.
We straight up had assignments asking us to talk about our favorite designers and stuff, and I was like "what favorite designers?"
I literally didn't pay any attention to the design world at all. My professor telling us that we need to pay attention to trends always freaked me out, because I straight up just have never paid attention to that stuff. Like sure I pay attention to company rebrands, and I analyze a good logo every now and then, but I'm not in any graphic design circles. I don't follow any designers on social media. I don't do anything like that.
I graduated almost 2 years ago now. Even before graduation, I realized that graphic design wasn't for me. I absolutely adore graphic design, but I'm just not cut out for the industry, and I absolutely cannot handle working with clients in freelance. I almost wonder if a lot of my fear and disdain came from me not caring about trends, despite being told I have to. I was one of the best designers in my program, but I just dropped the idea of doing it as a job. I've only done like 2 small design jobs since graduating.
Graphic Design is now just a hobby for me. I do it for fun. And recently I started to wonder if it even matters that I don't pay attention to trends.
Feels like it's only important in job interviews. To boast and sound impressive to the employer.
Of course, it's probably still important to look at the work of other designers for inspiration. So I'm out of luck there.
It was interesting to stumble upon this video. I've never seen any of these trend prediction videos, yet TH-cam decided to recommend this to me for some reason. It's pretty vindicating to hear someone say that trends are a load of nonsense. It affirms what I've felt all this time.
I feel you. Another reason I decided not to devote myself to the world of Graphic Design after graduating was the low pay rates. Sure now design has gotten more relevant for the consumer, but for the businesses, it’s still underpaid and undervalued.
Can I just say that cybercore/futurism blender/digital art videos are my favorite things to watch people make and study? Just the way they image new things to model that you’d never see in real life makes me excited to learn. And there aren’t many out there 😭💔
Can we just appreciate how BEAUTIFUL his space is
the editing style of this video to the cuts and the audio is sO GOOD??? THE SUBTLE COMEDY. THE PACING? fantastic
" eat my shorts but in a great Gatsby kind of way "
This video made laugh so many times. I totally agree, the trend videos are over done as heck and pretty inaccurate for the most part in retrospect. Thanks for the chuckles XD
I absolutely love the i was out shopping to cook us a delicious mea- bit the pan was perfect 2nd elliots position, how it seems somehow that 2nd elliot was either sequeijg into a sponsor or actually doing a genuine thing, the cadence, the panic. Loved it. Also loved the bideo.
Tbh these videos are kinda cool to watch and see what the entitled designers think is trendy, but the truth is that every project needs its own identity. I'm not gonna put Botanica in a hardware shop for example. And what gives me the best ideas for design and what is really trending (especially among gen z and alpha) is fan art and fan design. I highly recommend looking up people redoing K-pop covers or even doing posters for movies and books. It's amazing!
can you recommend some accounts you like?
how do you fit all that personality inside just one mullet
one of the graphic design trends of 2023 that i partook in was.... being burnt out!!!! haha heard that was a popular trend all year :')
my goal is to have an appartment just like yours when I grow up - it's so colorful and inviting
thank you apartment tour vid by end of feb
Alright, I'll be labelling all design work "petty bohemian" as code to identify designers I can trust or not for the remaining of the year.
the bart deco part reminded me of how in one of my classes senior year of college, we put on a poster exhibition and we made bart our unofficial mascot. our professor designed posters for the exhibition with him in some of the variations, and at the live event he was hidden really tiny in one of the posters too. who knew we were just serving bart deco ahead of the curve in 2021
The transition at 6:23 🧑🍳😘👌🏼
Paul Blart Deco... Truly original.
genuinely, your channel made me realise that graphic design isnt just logos. i dont know why i didnt realise that before.but like. graphic design is posters and merchandise and business cards and so many more things 😭😭😭
This is the graphic design tv show I've always wanted but never knew how to ask for. Thank you.
Dude I just wanna say your content has been the most reminiscent of why I fell in love with youtube in the first place. These videos are inspiring me to create more and start my own channel. Like you're giving me permission to be weird and "different" on this platform. Can't wait to start utilizing these design trends! My trend prediction for 2024 is BC vintage. Everything is hieroglyphics and the papyrus font.
I should be asleep, it’s midnight but I need to know graphic design trends RIGHT THIS MOMENT
Forget keeping up with trends, I'm struggling (but loving) to keep up with your outfit changes
A masterpiece. Shorts have been consumed.
The turtleneck and shorts fit is fire. I need to record more of my art process so I can cut it this chaotically
Why is no one talking about the work that was put into the closed captioning for this video. The captioner deserves an award for that shit.
I don’t think I‘m learning anything from this but this guy is very good at colourful pause-rambling
the slow and progressive cloth change to black is golden wow
Elliot stop it please I have things to do and I’ve been sitting here watching 5 of your videos in a row 😭😭
You have the most entertaining videos and the most sick looking living room
If there's one thing that I've learned from art school its that art critics love to make categories for art (and most of the time they're super vague and some things don't even fit correctly).
oh elliot my swan
ro 🥹
Wake up babe, Elliot just posted a new video!!! Oh wait. I don’t have someone.
Akschually, "Retro" refers to styles or items that imitate or evoke those from the past, often with a modern twist. "Vintage" describes items from a previous era, typically at least 20 years old.
every video is getting more and more cinematographic im here for it
I will say watching you made me realise that experimenting and being more random with my design choices creates my best work. Love the inspo ❤
i dont really pay attention to trends at all, i just like what i like. but i am here because you are very funny and charming. nice to see another video from you :)
I am not even a designer, but I absolutely love these videos
The evolution of your YT channel is BONKERS. Also the James Blunt reference was top notch.
Lmaooo you are so funny and unserious 😂😂😂 thanks for your humor cause its definition how i feel when i see half of these redundant topics all the time 😭😭😭 im tired of trends fr
Committing to self-deprecation so hard that you become a Washington Wizards fan. Respect the commitment to the bit!
Really enjoyed this video, great topic! I really like the delivery.
Passion, fun and chaos.
Touching. Groundbreaking. Moving. These are all words. Thank you.
I feel like most design comedy is so overused and dry that everyone knows what its gonna be but this video had me laughing alot it was hilarious
Just found your channel and I'm thankful for the algorithm! Really refreshing to see your channel, keep up the good work!
Your humor is so unhinged and unexpected, love it
i dont know shit about graphic design and i dont really care about it but this video is genuinely so good i just sat through all of it.
wake up babe, the elliots just uploaded a video abt graphic design trends to base our personality on
saying "fucking" and then having the bleep come 2 seconds later was top notch
Not 5 minutes after I finished this video, my recommended videos on youtube suddenly started fixating on 2024 graphic design trends, I feel like I'm one of those people who've had their Alexa hijacked by something someone's said on a video...
the point you make about YT's design community being super oriented on "trends" and upholding the "rules" of design and all-serving to the client really do stick out, i see this happening so often over on the subreddit r/graphic_design as well. Any sort of post that slightly deviates and drifts of from regular, corpo, bland design seems to usually have controversial comment sections with people saying stuff like "amateurish", "not design, wrong sub, its art". It's like no one actually wants to have fun in this field anymore or something.
I appreciate the client simulation you accomplish by having the camera looking down menacingly at you.
Elliot this video was fire I laughed out loud multiple times and was GAGGED when you changed the aspect ratio this was awesome thank you I’m gonna watch it multiple times I think!!!
I like the fact that Elliot's items on his shelf that have eyes don't stare into my soul while I'm watching a video. But then again, they also remind me of when a dog stares into the ceiling corner and you wonder if your house is haunted.
WHAT ARE THE NAME OF YOUR SHOES?!?!?!?!?!
this video is meta to the level of Bo Burnham’s “Inside”
i love how your outfit like slowly devolved into Graphic Design TH-camr #235293 throughout the video
Not even related to the video, but if this man made a film with this camera quality, angles and colors i would be 100% down to it.
Kel really challenged everything i knew and learned about design so far and i'm forever grateful, that they showed me, how design can be as fun as you want to make it♥ tysm ly
"come on fellas, what are we doing" 🤣
Amazing job incorporating Tiny Elliot! I remember when he was just a head, now he’s a real life co-host👏👏
I love the black margin throughout the video, which makes me wonder why I shopped around for such thin monitor bezels...
Off topic but I start uni for graphic design on Monday and your videos have been super inspiring keep being awesome bro
That slowly devolved into pure chaos
I really love your videos. They give me a breath of fresh air in a niche that is typically boring. Thank you.
Also trends give me a damn headache….i can’t keep up. 😂
1. Love how you bleep AFTER the fuck.
2. Love how you focus on discontinuity instead of continuity.
3. You got a great interior.
4. You love felines and that’s ALWAYS a good thing.
5. You leave no pauses, now my brain is in overdrive.
6. You amped the saturation of your colors and now I see green shapes (That last part is a lie.).
7. You are a handsome young man.
Have a lovely day….. 😊.
Thank you for the laughs, this is my favorite youtube design video so far 🤣🤣🤣
Environment colors and you being cohesive is very eye catching. It looks like eye candy.
My prediction: maximalist frutiger aero corporate memphis mashup
end of this video was inception level
The jump scare at 2:40 🤣 never seen someone jump cut with an AHH
in my opinion, i feel Retro Vintagism crossed with Eilliomorphism will also rise in popularity as subgenres of Petty Bohemian, but significantly more petty and definitely more Bohemian
you cannot summon pot of greed
Mr coolguy absolutely cooked with this one
one trend ive seen a little bit of that id like the communities assistance in perpetuating is pigeons, thats it pigeons, use them in your designs and art, your animations and memes. pigeons
great callout post, feels like design content on youtube is nothing more than filler. notice how there's no videos of people working on interesting personal or client projects, actually showing workflow or design process WE MISS YOU KEL
love the petty bohemian, most of designers are in fact petty bohemian :D
this video is such a graphic designer boy confidence bop! 😊
it's a small thing, but i love your color grading style! the saturated reds and desaturated greens!
I’m obsessed with his content so much that I am commenting this so his video gets more traction, even though I am driving in a snow storm.
the slow transition into the new outfit oh my GOD I had this on while I was doing other work and didn't even notice until I looked over and thought "did he have a turtleneck on before?"
I've seen several "graphic design trends of the year" videos but never seen this graphic design trends actually used
2:11 wait elliot was 7 ones?????? They didn't just come into existence after uploading hit youtube video "100 designs in 100 minutes"?????
minor spelling mistake(once*)😡😤
There really is a before and after in design from when Kel Lauren's channel became popular
Can we have like...... boat loads of year end Graphic Design awards video? Ben Marriot was always doing those "these were my favorite motion from the year" videos. I love those
where have you been elliot!! i can't start designing without your words of wisdom in the background
My favorite trend for 2024 is short form existential horror blended into my graphic design videos.
I'm trying to research Bart Deco, but all I can find is Bort Deco
I like the way he keeps our attention, especially obvious at 2:40
