  • See how the Elecraft KX2 is setup for audio digital modes. I've been using the KX2 with WSJT-X & JTDX, this is a great little QRP rig and works really well for these weak signal digital modes. Visit my website for the full article.

    Great video Richard. I guess all those settings and info would be the apply for the KX3? There was some conversation early on about the temperature
    stability with the KX3 with digital modes, that's why I have been hesitant to run them. But with the short transmit duration of FT-8, maybe that won't be an issue. I will give it a try.
    Seems like the KX2/KX3 would be ideal little radios to use for those digital modes. 73.

      Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting here. Yeah the KX3 is a more advanced I think you have a real good opportunity with a KX3 and these weak signal digital modes. I would especially like to see if there is activity on 160 m and on 2 m with a KX3. 73’s

    Setting up the KX2 for FT8 and noticed something that is not right. On my K3 I run FT8 with the radio set to DATA A. Audio response on the WSTJ-X waterfall is flat as I would expect. On the KX2 DATA A results in the audio response centered on 1500 Hz and drops off a few 100 Hz either side. That is not right, at least by my way of thinking and looking at the K3 response. So I have the KX2 set to USB to get a flat audio response. If you set other DATA settings you get audio response appropriate for that data mode. Why is my DATA A audio peaked at 1500 Hz?

      Hi Mike, check your filter.

      @@HamRadioAdventures Yep, that was it. I checked the filter before but that must have been in USB mode. Switching to DATA switched it. Now that I have changed the setting it is staying there.

    You are showing USB, I am starting in 40M and can't get Data A and USB, how do you do it?

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have a look at this page and it is in the first video about 50 seconds in. You won't see USB displayed while in Data A mode, but that's what it is. 73! www.k0pir.us/elecraft-kx2-and-wsjt-x-easy-setup/

      @@HamRadioAdventures Yes, I studied that page. The problem I'm now having is I can get in Data A however sometimes it is LSB and sometimes USB. I can switch it but then when I go from RX to TX it always seems to go into LSB. It was my understanding from the manual that Data A is default USB, why is it switching and why do I have to set it in the first place?

      @@sparty837 In the software I use Data/Pkt for Split Mode. Is that what you are using? Try either Data/Pkt or none.

      @sparty837 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HamRadioAdventures Yes I'm using the same modes/settings as you. It is almost like the radio thinks LSB is the default for Data A

      @@HamRadioAdventures Just in case you have any other viewers that have fat fingers, I figured it out, I put K2 in Rig instead of KX2 and apparently that screws up the sideband selection and maybe other things too.
