The reality of box controllers is that people buy them because they are the cheapest method and smallest barrier of entry for getting a competitively viable controller. You pick up a box and the inputs you press are what you get, and that just isnt always true on a gcc, even mango who has every resource at his disposal had a fucked up controller at the show match. I mod controllers, which is why my phob never has any issues. Boxes lower the barrier of entry for the game for this reason and i think thats worth holding onto
So if you have a 1 to 1 melee reskin, the purpose is for a gradual move to the game rather than an immediate move. You start with online, streamers play it, maybe eventually some locals like nightclub will run it. This is more like, "what will the game be in 10 years" than "will this game replace melee the year it comes out"
Whenever i think of a melee clone i always think of the browser project "melee light"(ikneedata). Do you think that those low poly clones are legally distinct enough to use?
the fizzi game should be a sandbox game, like it can have all kinds of mods like battle royale melee, 5v5 melee, darksouls coop boss rush melee etc not for competitive 1v1 so much

hot take: the way to get viewership on friday and saturday is get rid of seeding and always put top player matches on stream and don't use new commentators unless absolutely necessary, the chance of a crazy upset will get everyone watching
No one will watch because no top player would be caught dead entering that tournament. There wouldnt be a single top 20 player there. So that wouldnt work

As someone that watches entire tournaments regularly, vods that are properly set up as individual videos with at least two people on commentary helps. It's impractical but missing tons of games really makes it hard to watch the earlier parts of the tournament. Also I notice the playlists are usually organized out of chronological order so you get spoiled by commentators acknowledging what you should have already seen. These are all reasonable compromises to get a crap ton of vods out fast but it's what prevents me from watching them more
