Big Mike checking in - What a day out there with you brother! Thanks for coming out and sharing the mountain with me 😊 Good times, positive vibes, keeping the stoke high as always
I lived in Vernon for a few years and learned to ski at Silver Star. My inlaws settled there about 10 years ago, so we've been taking yearly trips up there to ski. I put my kids in proper ski lessons up there since it was far cheaper than Cypress. The first black run we did together was The Face. I'll never forget that moment for as long as I life. Such a fun mountain to ski.
One of the reasons I chose Vernon to retire vs elsewhere in the Okanagan. My folks lived in Okanagan Falls so I used to visit & ski Apex most often, a few trips to Big White. When I finally decided to make the long drive from OK Falls to Vernon to check out the Star, I knew immediately this was the place. There are some slang names for the hills, kind of apt. Scrapex for Apex as it can be sketchy at the top on low snowpack years, Big Whiteout, you might know why, when the weather socks in most of Big White is in the soup. At Silverstar you can usually get below it on the backside. If you're up to a 20-minute hike along a Nordic trail you might want to check out Alder Point, You may have seen it across the drainage from Free Fall, White Elephant. Only problem is it's south facing so not worth the hike later in the season, sun affected. And like a few other runs, when they're slack with summer grooming alder can be a problem if the snow isn't deep enough. ;) I'm gonna go out on a limb & guess the next stop will be Revelsoak....
I'm so happy that you made this video! I'm going there next month and was wondering how it was. And from the looks of it, some groovy tree skiing! You make every resort look fun though!
Silverstar is my favourite resort, even though I live in Calgary and Sunshine is only a 2 hour drive away from where I live…. Silverstar just hits different because that was the first resort I actually started snowboarding on after I took my snowboarding lessons at C.O.P.
Nothing hits like the home resort. Manning Park will always be my #1. Gotta make a video with there and showcase all my favourite zones from when I was a kid.
Was hopeing you were going to hit Silverstar, so sick to see you charging down my home mtn! You got some pretty good snow too! Thanks for the videos as always!
Great video of Silverstar, you got snow and a bluebird morning thrown in. We skied here last year and it was nice to re-live it through this. Keep up the great work James. Peace out.
Love watching you take runs I will never be skilled enough to drop into. Next time we come up from Texas to run Whistler, I need to hire you to up my game.
i got a silver star szn pass for this winter and your vid was the perfect way to get stoked love the good vibes! come back and do some laps this szn i need a shot of hot sauce lol 🤘
Silverstar is my home mountain, ever since I started watching your videos I wondered if I’d see you hit silverstar. Not quite the big mountain feel but it’s a fun resort , glad you made it up on a semi decent pow day sl considering the weird season it’s been. The only bad thing is since the backside/Putnam area is lower elevation it gets a little rough without consistent snow. Lots of fun unmarked trails on the mountain but they are hard to find, especially the back side ones
So glad you could enjoy my town and mountain. It's a skier mountain, so perfect! The snow is hanging in there unlike Whistler. Next time don't stay at a motel bro, stay at the Hygge House or City to Sticks on Airbnb👍
You're killing it dude - better snow, better music, better videos. Silver Star definitely looks like a gem, they should be quite content at how you showed it off. 👍
Nice! Was waiting for your review of our "little mountain", and it didn't disappoint! It's hard to tell from the camera just how flat some sections of Deer Park are, though. Stick to the right side of Silver Woods. Way better glades.
Just another regulation day at Silver Star. My folks retired to Vernon in the mid 70’s and my dad taught up at the star, so needless to say that even though I live in Edmonton, “The Star” was my home shred for a couple of decades and has always been an integral part of our annual ski trip to BC. Such a great all round hill.
was just at silver star last week, i could see my tracks all through the video 😂 you make that stuff look so easy, Doognog did not look so good for me 🤣 Gonna go try revy when it gets it’s dump next Tuesday!
You must try Alder Point run - a bit of a walk to it but is worth it. Also a bonus there are some slack-country lines off it if you brought avy gear. Also give me a shout if you are hitting Big White I could show some good spots there.
Rise and Alpine that was another awesome vid, you are quite the awesome skier! Any word on the bottom of Whistler, can you ski right to the bottom now after that 20cm of snow?
From the uk loving your content, you ski trees really well that’s one area I need to work on , that’s awesome silver star I skied there late nineties can’t remember the gondola being there then
I could try and rank stuff, big problem is that every mountain has its strengths so rankings never make sense to me. But a high level comparison could be sweet.
@@riseandalpine I think generally the questions that I and many people may be interested in are questions about skiing tips, equipment, your experiences, future plans etc
The ski out is running smooth to creekside and Blackcomb base. Not sure about Whistler as I don't often drop down to the main village but I'm pretty sure it's going smooth too
Such an underrated and underappreciated youtuber. Great video, looking forward to the next one!
Agreed, I have a feeling he's gonna go viral! It only takes one video to get millions of views
Thanks to all of you! Y'all are the reason I can do what I do :)
Big Mike checking in - What a day out there with you brother! Thanks for coming out and sharing the mountain with me 😊

Thanks for showing me around you legend! Going to have to suck back a little more sauce to stay on your tail next time.

I'll 100% check out Alder Point the next time I visit. Also, I think I want to retire in Vernon too LOL
Powder gulch laps on a good snow day is killer, glad you had a good time!
Freefall... WOW. Love the Backside.

Incredible! Wish I could come back to SilverStar, it's such a great spot to take a trip. Stay spicy and you're living the dream!
Thanks Max! The Star rocked.
Great video of Silverstar, you got snow and a bluebird morning thrown in. We skied here last year and it was nice to re-live it through this.

Glad you've experienced this hill to Paul. The Backside is such a treat!
im going out there on the weekend and this is getting me even more excited!
It’s been fantastic this week with the sun shining and crisp air. Enjoy!

Bruv, it was awesome to shred through Deer Park witcha!
‘Fun, and lots of it!’
Glad you got a taste of the Star!
Ayyyeee - stoked you found me in the comments section. Thanks for the intel and briefly showing me around. I'll be back!
That is a damn good looking ski resort right there. I love the whole ski town vibe, it's like year round Christmas to me lol
Dude totally. Felt like I was on a vacation the second I arrived.
Another banger! Those Skis chew through everything! Very impressive 😊
Really loving the unleashed 114... I think I've found the new daily driver
Love watching you take runs I will never be skilled enough to drop into. Next time we come up from Texas to run Whistler, I need to hire you to up my game.
Glad you have fun watching my stuff from Texas!
Your video is so well done!!!
Silverstar is my hometown mountain. Glad you enjoyed our little resort!

I'll be back for sure. Love the Star!
Great edit. I have to make my way to Canada. the last couple of mountains you visited have crazy terrain and the chair lifts are empty
The interior is a hidden gem. Such a breath of fresh air compared to Whistler lines

Super lucky to call this your home hill, it absolutely rocks! I'm sure you know some awesome secret stashes
Beauty day!
Great video. Loved skiing the backside, so many great options off the powder gulch
The Powder Gulch Rocks. Fall line everywhere!
Wow plenty of snow and looked fantastic with the perfect sunny morning. Amazing views into the distance too.
The perfect day!
These videos never fail to entertain me!
So glad you always dig em'
What a great adventure. One day will be my turn. Great vid. Amazing....

Russty Whistle looks scary tough!
Such a fun name!
Love watching all your video’s , you have a blast ⛷️⛷️
Thanks Stephen!
I highly recommend sitting on a swivel bar stool while watching you shred. Feel da motion. Excellent day at the Star ! 👍👍
hahaha that's awesome. Turning my videos into VR!

Such an awesome spot. I'll totally check them out next time. To be honest, I always go for what is most affordable.
@@riseandalpine especially with lift ticket prices 😉. Please come again, and we can share what the best apres ski there is👍
Great hill, chill vibe and awesome locals!
Couldn't have said it better myself
There is normally quite a bit more snow. Amazing hill. Hope you enjoyed!
Honestly, still some of the best snow I've come across all season. Such a blast!
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Man what are you doing letting the cat outta the bag haha. I've skied SS all my life and called Vernon home since 2016. Silver Star is a total gem.
What a great spot to call home!
You're killing it dude - better snow, better music, better videos. Silver Star definitely looks like a gem, they should be quite content at how you showed it off. 👍
Thanks Mark. Really glad to hear you liking the extra effort I'm putting into the videos. Wish I could control the 'better snow' part all the time :)

Sick dude!!!!🦌
Just live your videos and how stoked you are. Now throw on some tele skis man 😀👍🏼.
I'd be stoked to try a little tele one day.

I've skied a lot of resorts this season and this day is still top of my list. An incredible mountain to call home!
I swear every video I’ve looked at of yours the snow has been so good, I’m in lake Louise and it’s just ice
I got a little lucky with snowfall for sure!
good looking trip and great vids
Thanks Jason!
Thanks for another fantastic video. Keeps a skier in warm dry southern Ontario from selling their skis.
LOL - hold onto those skis and fly with them out here Dave!
Damn I'm a good guesser. Can't wait to watch this when I get home.
Awesome video, looks so fun!! Really considering Silverstar for the resort i do a season in next winter.
It would be a sick resort to do a season at!
Finally getting the views and subscribers! Bet you’ll be at least at 50k by next season
All thanks to you and all the awesome people watching. So grateful to have the opportunity to do what I do
was just at silver star last week, i could see my tracks all through the video 😂
you make that stuff look so easy, Doognog did not look so good for me 🤣
Gonna go try revy when it gets it’s dump next Tuesday!
Doognog is such a cool run!
Hell yeah, nasty skiing as always James 🔥
Thanks Jimmy!
One of my favourite places to ski in BC!
Such a gem
Got a good laugh on the “someone’s driveway” double black
Glad you caught that one LOL. Love throwing in the odd comedic nugget
awesome video man! you inspire me
So glad I can share my passion with you!
Bro really is living the dream!!! stock up on footy so we can watch some summer skiing!!!
I'm working hard to keep the skiing footy going as long as possible!
Man this looks amazing🤩
So much fun!

Thanks dude. I'll give Alder a look the next time I visit!
That snow is unreal
The interior snow just hits different!
Try big white ski resort.
I don't the conditions though its amazing place to ski.
I went there with my family last year.
He was just there
Was just up there. Big White rocks
Rise and Alpine that was another awesome vid, you are quite the awesome skier! Any word on the bottom of Whistler, can you ski right to the bottom now after that 20cm of snow?

So glad you're digging my stuff Rob! I actually have a tree skiing tips video if you want to check it out :) th-cam.com/video/HlTKtm28ii4/w-d-xo.html
Yeeewww!!
Mike was going full sauce...
⛷.........⛷......⛷.....⛷...⛷..⛷...💥
Mike broke the sound sauce barrier !
bro is my idol
When your done the ski tour any chance you could do a rankings list?
I could try and rank stuff, big problem is that every mountain has its strengths so rankings never make sense to me. But a high level comparison could be sweet.
Last year my grampa rented one of the houses rite by silver woods the house was in the vid
That must have been awesome! Did you moon anyone on the chairlift?
face is the first ever black run I did lmao didn't remember till I saw the name
That's awesome!
Makes me want to road trip. Apparently Oregon is about to get absolutely nuked with snow, like a metre in half a week
WOW - now I want to go to Oregon
Did i see a little jump 360 there today?
I was feeling a little bit spinny I guess
Love this little series of the okanagan mountains! Are you stopping here or going past the okanagan? (Sun peaks)
We'll have to wait and see where the next spot is
did you do eldorato on the way to powder gultch? Next time dont its way more time consuming. (LOCAL TIP)
Oh yes I did. Made the ultimate newbie mistake hahahha
@@riseandalpine if you go back again do trails called wheres bob and stardust to get to the bottom of the backside
Trust your liftie they know there terrain 😊
Yup - lifties got the best intel
Adding Silver Star to the list
You won't regret it!
omg there can't be that much snow there in Feb 2024?!?!
Yep… we had a great dump about two weeks ago after it was bulletproof following the gross rain event
Some of the best snow in BC right now!
I may be in school but this is more important.
Education is important but skiing is importanter.
Glad to hear your priorities are straight :)
Location: silver star mountain resort in Vernon BC
Yup!
when will you be coming back to whistler blackcomb?
I'm always back and forth!
are your nordic's center mounted?
Factory Mount
Someone's driveway (double black) 😂
Haha just about died, glad buddy was chill about it
Scariest run of my life!
I'm pretty sure I could get free lift access here. What a cool resort! Unfortunately, its so far away for me.
Maybe one day!
Cat tracks much?
No Sun Peaks yet??
:)
lots of incredible quotes on this one lmao
Which one was your favourite?
I see a new Video
my head:
I-35 with it top down
Quick to tell a hater that you'll get like me...
Haha, right? Then in the head all day… and again as soon as I rock up at the hill the next day haha
Q&A at 25k?
Would be happy to do that if people would find it fun. What kind of Q's would y'all want answers too?
@@riseandalpine I think generally the questions that I and many people may be interested in are questions about skiing tips, equipment, your experiences, future plans etc
Biggie and Silvy are my home mountains. So many powder pockets. No lines, ever. Unlimited varying terrain. Don’t come here lol
Sick you can call them home. I bet there are so many secret stashes!
Silverstar is honestly terrible. So, so much worse than any other ski hill in the okanagan
I sense sarcasm ;)
Why do rappers think buying a Tesla is a flex? They are absolutely everywhere and you can get one for a very average new car price.
The ski out is running smooth to creekside and Blackcomb base. Not sure about Whistler as I don't often drop down to the main village but I'm pretty sure it's going smooth too
Boring !
I found it to be quite the opposite, could spend unlimited time here and wouldn't get bored
